I thought I purchased some good standing lanterns, with a slider around the outside to concentrate the light beam, but when we had a flat tire and I pulled this lantern out, the light was wimpy. My Son's phone light was brighter! and that's what we used to get the flat fixed.

Any suggestions? The cheaper the better, but I want quality. thanks! :)

they make a 12 volt work light that plugs in to the cig lighter of the car/truck , many are LED now

or just a 12 volt hand held spot light with a long enough cord to reach around the car or truck

Thanks for the info. HM. Actually, these wouldn't just be for the car, but for preps in general. They could also be solar, if any solar lanterns out there cast a strong beam.

Reading the thread thinking you're wanting something on the order of a Coleman lantern, there are many flashlights available to fit the bill, try looking at some of the LED headlamps and my self have a few but they now make all of them with so many LEDS it eats the batteries in about 6 hours and the ones I have only operate on a single LED and run 100 hours on three AAA batteries and yes my 55 year old eyes can change a tire with this.

This (bolded words)brand sounds really good. Is this a Coleman headlamp you have?

All my Coleman lanterns are white gas, I have a few older Rayovac headlamp's that Rayovac no longer makes and like all the other makers they are giving the consumer what they think they want and thats a bigger brighter with more LED lights built into them. Here a few photos of what I have just incase you spot in some hardware store and it has two red LEDs and also one clear-white LED and a bigger light I do not use because it will kill the batteries in no time.
