PREP I came out of the closet today...

And gave a disaster prep class for our church. We had members from 18 families in attendance. It went well with presentations from American Disaster Supply, Santa Rosa COPE program and our own build a kit presentation.

We had a show and tell after words with some questions about the wheat grinder and water filters.

An interesting discovery for me was that the pastor 2 levels up from us was a major Y2k prepper. I've found my home.

I know local officials had a pandemic flu exercise a while back. I need to ask BIL his opinion of local readiness.

Catchy title - but dude...maybe you should modify it..:lkick:

Yup, and notice who the catchy title caught first.

Really though, most of us are closet preppers. Afraid that others will just decide that "well if it gets that bad I'll just come over to YOUR house". So we hide our preps.

But it is really great to be in a community of preppers where we can help each other and our neighbors. After all the greatest commandment is love thy neighbor.

My surprise was how many in church were already prepping. All in all it was a great day and we served the Lord too. Now it will be interesting to see if we end up doing a repeat class or some of the more in depth subjects that were discussed.

Seems like you've found a group that suits you very well. Good job of allowing yourself to be at the right place at the right time.

I'm glad you had the courage to admit you were a 'closet prepper;' I won't tell others what I am doing anymore. It must be nice to know others are now taking an active role in prepping for themselves and their families; that many less you will have to feed.

I did a little preparedness meeting right after 9/11 for some neighborhood gals and my DD. I covered the basic, food, water, shelter thing. I also showed them the two week supply of food I had assembled in a large tub that could easily be put in the back of a car. I don't know if any of the gals ever got serious about prepping after the presentation; but I bet ya they are prepping like mad NOW.

I'm glad you found some like-minded people.

You have to be careful now who you tell. Sometimes, I drop hints and go from there, not revealing too much.
