Food I bought.....

A 12 pound Jack Fruit yesterday.

I have some ideas from websites and such on how to prepare, but was wondering if any of you guys have tried this, and how you have fixed it???

My wife bought one recently, and made pan fried it sort of like mashed potatoes, but with some unknown spices. Mostly because we were thinking about growing some. She liked it, I did not. We have not bought another one.

I have determined that they are .....
DISGUSTING!!
I did NOT find even the "sweet"part to be particularly appealing and I will NOT BE BUYING ANOTHER ONE!!
BLECH!!!

Strange looking fruit. Like a cross between an armadillo and a porcupine.

Strange way of shucking them too. Press on the outer skin of the whole fruit. It folds along the pattern of that exo-skeleton.

Open it up with tearing and ripping motions. Separate the fleshy fruit portions from the huge seed parts.

A light sweetness. Very fleshy firm chewy.

Had my first taste this year.
