CHAT I-95 Gas Stations

Drove up I-95 yesterday from Florida to NC. Florida had plenty of gas. We had several 5 gallon containers full but preferred to just fill up the tanks regularly if gas was available. Stopped near the FL/GA line and filled up without issue, then near the SC/NC to refill, was thinking we might have trouble finding gas but when we got off the exit saw 3 gas stations, all full of cars at the pumps so looked at each other and said " wow, we were worried for nothing" and felt a bit silly for running around filling up gas cans last week.

We pulled up behind a car and noticed people were not filling up, but just sitting in their cars or the walking around. A Guy yells over to us that a truck is expected in a couple of hours. We quickly leave and pull across the street and watch from a distance and both the other stations have the same situations. We still have half a tank so drive around a bit. until we find a nice private place to put in two of our 5 gallon cans which give us just enough range to get home...

I am guessing if these people had just driven a few miles off the interstate they would have found gas. <shrug>

Came through the same area yesterday. Exxon at exit16 was empty people were just waiting around. We just used the rest room and moved on down the road. A hand full of miles and stopped at another station and all was good. No other issue we sawfrom NC to the Low Country of SC.

Went to church yesterday and topped my tank off. Sams Club off I77 and GasBuddy reported them as being out. They were out of premium and my pump acted like it was getting low. No lines at any stations I saw and the majority had gas.

Owner reports that we never had a burp, but gas prices rose another 20 cents in the interim.

As Owner says "Any reason is a good one to raise the price."

He's putting a bet on $4 a gallon by the 4th (of July.) Just about double the price of "Trump Gas."

We are at the Ashe end of every supply chain except Christmas trees, and so far no bobbles on gasoline supply here. Except price ...

My feeling is that just as most grocery stores operate on the "just in time" principle, most people do too. We've grown accustom to always having fuel at the gas station, so why worry until you have about a quarter tank or less.

No shortages here but price has risen .20 or so since this all started. But if I'm remembering correctly, gas usually goes up for the summer vacationing season.
