How they got their names...?

I love hearing pet names and how they came to be. Are there any interesting stories out there? (Your animals not your DH's or DW's)

No interesting stories really. Ours were usually named for some physical thing, like coloring. Taffy was named that because in the sun her fur looked shiny like taffy does when it's being pulled. We picked Toby because we wanted another "T" to go with Taffy. Rusty was for his color. Freckles was because she was white and black had black freckles on her face. Pal was a stray my son found that we weren't planning on keeping. He called her Pal, just for something to call her until we found her a home. We had her 6 years until she died! , Beau, (Beauregard) was named that because he was a Brittany Spaniel (another stray) and the only dog we ever had that was worth any money, so we wanted a more dignified name for him. Turns out he was dumber than dog snot, and we figured who ever had him couldn't train him for hunting and got mad and dumped him in the woods. A very loveable dog though and one of my favorites. My daughter named her's Sadie (I call her The Beast!) and I think she just pulled that name out of a hat because none of us liked the other ones she had picked.

Our dog 'Peachie' is the color of a ripe peach thus the name. She is a sharpe/yellow lab mix. 'Cocoa' is lab/shepard/terrier mix. She looked like someone dipped her snout in hot chocolate.

We had a multicolored cat that we named 'Patches.' A girl cat that was named Tamera until we found out it was a boy so then we renamed her 'Butch.'

One cat is named 'Magic' because when we went to pick her up to foster her, she 'magically' got out of the box. Our long haired HUGE mother/daughter cats are called Hairy and Fluff. The long haired/HUGE/Grey son is called 'Hunky.' He is the most laid back animal I have ever met.

' A girl cat that was named Tamera until we found out it was a boy so then we renamed her 'Butch.'

Too funny! DH brought home a Calico from the shop at work. I asked him if it was male or female. He doesn't know and the cat won't let any of us get close enough to find out. Can't decide what to name it. Hate to call it one name only to find out it's not the right gender. I think that's what got me to thinking about this thread. We're getting a new puppy in the next week or two, just a mutt and trying to think of names for it as well.

When we got our first dog our then 2 yr old picked Nixie Knox off the top of her head when we picked up our Aussie/Spaniel. It's from the Dr. Seuss ABC book. We were so shocked that she picked out this name and it fits him perfect.

Our old, now gone, cat was named Laney. She couldn't say Laney so she called it Nalie, that's what one of our new kittens is named. The black one is Sally for Baby Sally from her Dick and Jane book.

I have a 6 year old Harlequin Great Dane (almost 200 lbs). For those who do not know, a Harlequin is white with black patches. When people ask his name, they are always surprised..... his name is Blue.

The next question is: why did I name a black and white dog, Blue? Well, he has the most beautiful, intense blue eyes you have ever seen!

Not a very interesting story, I know. I call him 'Blueberry' sometimes, as kind of a silly nickname...... and that is how I got my board name.

Oh the history on some of the pet names in my life!

First dog: Penny. She had brownish/coppery dots above both her eyes. Funny, even with her eyes closed, from a distance it looked like her eyes were open. My Dad called her George....my Dad was weird that way.

Had her pups(boys) and called one Hippo,he was born so big and his brother Boots, with white paws and black body....Called them at the same time HipBoots!

Joe named after Joe Louis the boxer. Dog was about 4 shades of brown with pretty brown eyes! Joe Louis' nickname was the "Brown Bomber".

Burt, named after my Dad's boss........Think Burt disappointed my dad.....He was one of the smartest and precocious dogs I ever knew.

Sugar Bear....very appropriate, she grew up as the sweetest collie/shepard mix.

Clarence the cat.....Tough old tom that owned the neighborhood. When he died, one ear was half off and he had a Heidelberg saber scar running from his forehead, across one eye and then into his whiskers.

Then there was Mercedes a beautiful black/brown/white collie....DW wanted the name because she heard a woman in an airport yell out the name to her dog. She loved it. Plus we told people that would be the only Mercedes we would ever own.

Lady........wrongo.......should have named her Switchblade...what a tough little cockerschnau! Stubborn as a team of mules, but the best mouse and mole killer in the county.

Toots....the one we just lost......A mix of maybe Sheltie and Golden..what a sweetie......She just looked like a Toots to us.

Lucy the Jack Russell. everything you heard about the breed is true......named(with permission) after my DW teacher friend. She( and the dog also) are hyperactive/attention deficit.....That fits her to a tee.

And our 4 year old....Abigail the Corgi. Queen Mum's favorite dont ya know. Queen Mum of England before she just recently died(at 100!) had like 12 or 14 Corgi's! Woman must have had a lot of help with them. Sweet breed but they can be stubborn.

Im sure I missed some of the dogs and cats and birds and flying squirrels in my life.....they'll understand and still greet me at the Rainbow Bridge when the time happens.

Let's see

The horse is named Kingdom, cause I asked for a horse and he came here, the owner then came to get him and gave him to me. Hence Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done. I asked for a poodle like my aunt had, grey or blue. She showed up a couple weeks later, and I named her precious, a gift recieved.
Now for bear. He has a face that looks like a bear. He's the chow. Taught him to go up to anyone that comes into the house and stick his nose in their crotch. He gets alot of petting this way and fun to watch people try to back up and get a chows head out of their crotch. He continues till I tell him to quit. So anybody that ever visits is warned.

Cats:

Spidey, an orange tiger looking thing, named because he crawls, climbs, and jumps like spiderman.

Baldy, all black with a few stray white hairs, named because of the bald spot on his head. He just died 3 days ago. :bwl: He was the most lovable kitten ever and quite the attention whore.

Kota, all black, named because the kids had just watched the movie, Brother Bear.

(All three of the above cats, plus one brother, came to us a couple of months ago as tiny orphans, no more than 2 weeks old. The othe brother didn't make it but a few days.)

Scrappy, a beautiful white and brown cat with blue eyes, can't remember why the name but the kids picked it.

Dogs:

Zippy, 1/2 German Shepard and 1/2 Aussie Shepard, named because when we got him at 6-8 weeks old, he zipped around the house. Still does.

Beldar, 1/2 Boxer and 1/2 Black Lab--gorgeous dog!!, named because she has a conehead. :lol)

Stinky, unknown black and white mutt who was a drop off that we took in, named because he was soooo stinky when he sweet talked us into taking him in.

Burgie, a white unknown mutt, named because we picked him up in the parking lot at Burger King.

That's it for the current cats and dogs.

My black and tan doxie 8 yrs., A-Rubi Diamond. She was born on the day we were flying to Aruba. My FIL always called Aruba...Arubi and when we very approaching Aruba, the island looked like it was surrounded by sparkling diamonds. So, it seemed a fitting name for our new furkid and a handle for me.

Gypsy, my redbone Doxie, she passed over at age 16 this past Jan.. She was born in Oklahoma, went to Kansas then New York, then home to Vt. Seemed like she was a wandering gypsy...'til she came home.

Cassie, my Yorkshire terrier, 4yrs. old. Cassandra Lynn, What I would have named a daughter, if I had had one.

Cinnamon, my kitty, 8yrs old. 'Cause that's what color she is and we call her cin-cin for short, 'cause sometimes she's the devil and full of sin  The Vet calls her the cat from H**l. But, she's only like that at the vets.

Lady, Border Collie and lovingly remembered often. Lady because she was so smart and acted like a Lady.

Fat Cat, came to visit one day as a scrawny little, aprox. 6 mo. old kitty. The better half kept saying we'd have to take her to the Humane So. ......after 6 wks. I decided she needed a name and she wasn't scrawny any more so.....Fat Cat.

Puddles, black and tan Doxie, that's what she did for the first 3 wks. and the name stuck.

Puddy Cat, Puddles best friend.

Booger, so sorry on your recent lost of Baldy.

I really do like the stories and you just got to have some fun reminissing (sp)?

Yesterday was a horribly sad day for us. We came home from a trip to town and DH says I wonder why the Nixie Knox isn't here to greet us. As we hit the porch we found out why. Poor thing there was blood everywhere. He had been hit by our neighbors truck and was in bad shape. Had to put him down. DH placed a huge sunflower plant on the grave. It was a rough night too.
My youngest son was in 2 accidents this week, one he ended up at the hospital for x-rays and will be on crutches a few days. All I could think was how thankful that he was alright and not in worse shape like Nixie.
I never had a dog growing up and this was the first dog I had as an adult that I really liked. We're going to miss him terribly.

Hmmm, seems "Bear" is a fairly common name for a dog.

My dog's name is Bear. That's short for Teddybear. When I first got him, he was only a few weeks old. And when I'd pick him up, he's extend all four legs straight out to the sides. Being brown in color and having little, black button-eyes, he looked just like one of those toy teddybears. Asd he got older, I dropped the 'teddy' part. You know how 'boys' hate a 'girlish' sounding name.

Just thought I should add: Just in case anyone is getting any bad ideas...that is *not* my password. :dvl2:

Miss Tina - sorry about your dog - and your son. If things happen in 3's you should be done!! He will be waiting at Rainbow Bridge with alot of our favorite animals.

Our first family dog was about a medium size, with with big round dark spots and we called him PANDA - as he reminded us of a real Panda.

Our little Pomeranian is named Jingles - rather Jingle Bell - which we have shortened. Because we rescued her we didn't have the privilege of naming her, but Foxy Loxy, Miss Pris, Miss Kitty or 'your dog' come to mind to name a few because of her personality, but we'll just stick with Jingles!! She really is a joy to us, and we are thankful to have her.

Miss Tina, that is so sad. I hope that you can have the good memories of Nixie and things will be better with your son, and he becomes very well. Be sure to watch sunsets for God reveals himself there. In times of sadness sunsets help.

Willie is my favorite dog name after my Grandfather. Thumper second because she hops around like a rabbit! Oh and Gertrude the hamster! Name from...her curious attitude!

One of the chalenges doing rescue is naming the dogs. I, along with nost of my associates have learned----they WILL live up to the name you give them.

The name I have chosen for our kennel is C W Singin' since the rescue dogs really do know those Country Western Blues Songs -- Know 'em - most of them have lived them.

MacDusky: when his rescuer found him in the dog pound, he was emaciated, filthy and stunk. Mac was the name for him, then she went into his kennel to doa breed ID on him and was met with such strength of charater and dignity just pain old Mac was not good enough, so he became MacDusky. A home (mine) was found and he was pulled on his Put-to-Sleep date. Today he is CW Singin' Chris MacDusky, ILP. (The Chris is to honor the husband of his rescuer who died shortly after Mac's rescue.)

PatsyCline: when we got her as a pup (our only non-rescue) a Patsy Cline song came on the radio and she started singing. What else could we name her. (As for living up to her name--well, think barroom brawler in a Texas road house. That girl will fight with a fence post.)

Tess: We found her hunting food in a rain storm. Got her name from the song "They Call the Wind Mariah". The rain is Tess. The fire, Joe. And they call the wind Mariah.

Libby, the rescue who LOVES to run, pull and work is named after the first female winner of the Iditarod -- Libby Riddles.

My last cat was named Dac. he was a polydactile (lots of extra toes, on one of his front feet he had 8)

All the rest of the animals have/had special names except poor Sequoia, she came from her first home with that name and since that home was not a bad place, she kept the name.

Oh this sounds like a fun thing to do....

Lets see. I have seven rescued kittens from this year.

Eenie, Meenie, Minie and Moe. Some friends called to tell me that some inconsiderate jerk was giving kittens away at a shopping mall to anyone who would take one. They wanted to know, if they rescued one, would I take it. I said sure and told them to pick one or two. Well, they couldn't make up their minds because they suspected whichever kittens didn't get chosen would have a rotten and short life with someone who just took them on a whim. Thus the names Eenie, Meenie, Minie and Moe.

A & B. I went to a farm to look at some hay and while I was waiting for the farmer to come out of the fields I discovered a starving deydrated little kitten. Always the sucker, I asked the farmer if he wanted to get rid of the kitten (since he wasn't taking care of it). He said sure but there was another one around somewhere...maybe two others. So we found the other kitten and I went home. The farm name was the A. B. Cole farm so I named the two kittens I had A and B. There was no third kitten but if there had been one it would have been C.

Ditch. The seventh kitten from this spring. My husband was driving home and saw a kitten laying in the ditch along side the road. He stopped and picked the poor little thing up and brought it home. Several vet visits later he is doing wonderful and it just seemed logical to name him for the ditch he was laying in.

Sabie. My husband was in the hospital several years ago undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and he knew the whole ordeal was really taking it's toll on me. He also knew there was a kitten at work that I loved so he told me to get the kitten....which I did. I wanted to name her something that reminded me of the ordeal we were going through and my husband's kindness at thinking about me over himself. I thought about cancer but decided that was a bit too awful. Then I thought of Chemo but that wasn't too nice either. Then I thought of Kemosabe..Tonto's name for the Lone Ranger. So I named her Sabie..which then made me think of chemo which then made me think of cancer and then my husband.

I named a goat after the singing group "Twisted Sister". This particular goat was horribly twisted when she was born and almost didn't make it. Twisted Sister seemed logical.

I have a sheep named Mary (I know, not very original) and when I couldn't think of a name for her sheep firend I just named the friend "Mary's Friend".

I probably could go on til the second coming but this is enough for now.

Willow. This name is taken from one of my Minis...a little dwarf.

Love the stories especially Sabie. One year my sister made a bunch of "hairless" wooden angels for her nurse friend who worked in chemotherapy at the hospital. Her patients thought they were wonderful! Chemo nurses are angels. We have a dear friend who is a pediatric chemo nurse, she is a saint.
Onto the topic...
I simply refuse to call the calico cat in the barn "cally" as other family members have suggested. She is The Barn Cat. I expect her to mouse and keep snakes away. I thought about Barney but Barney always wanted to rule with an iron fist rather than talk peacefully and intelligently like Sheriff Taylor. I thought sheriff but I don't know that that fits either. Taylor is somewhat non gender specific so since I still don't know if The Barn Cat is male or female I'm now leaning towards Taylor.

Gotta start working on names for the puppies...something to honor and remember Nixie Knox.

Our dogs:

Luther: Basenji. His nicknames include: Lucifer, Cool Hand Luke, Filthy Lucre, Mr. Pot Pie. He was a rescue case, and had zero manners when we acquired him. He's Lil Buddy now.

Mako: Yellow Lab. Always on the hunt for food. Nicknames include: Big, Big Goofy.

Former dogs:

Homer. Copper-colored lab/ridgeback mix. Beautiful dog. Got his name when I showed DH his "baseball diamond" under his tail.

Dikliss - First female dog I owned. Started out with Dixie, I shortened it to Dik, then I realized what an oxymoron it was, so I started calling her Dikliss.

My childhood dog was "Tato-bug" Ugliest collie-shepherd mix I've ever seen. Smart as a whip, though. Mom named him Plato, but of course us kids shortened it to Tato, and Tato-bug or Tato-salad.

Our cat was: Nimrod, but we called him Yakkie because whenever he saw one of us he would start talking. He wasnt real good at "meowing". It came out sounding like "yaaakkkkk". He's been missing for a year now. Gee, we miss him. Nimrod means "Hunter"

The Great Cat
ok here goes:

we have 2 german sheps, roxy and chopper. we named chopper because his daddy's name is harley so we figured we would keep it in the cycle family. besides i love American Chopper on the disco so chopper it was. Roxy because it sounded like a cool biker chick name to go with chopper. they are almost a year old and heard my kids, pretty cool.

then there is Johnny O the kewl kitty. my 4 yr old names all our cats because she is so good at it! she comes up with the most fitting names you can imagine. we had a cat named Mouse, but he ran away or got snatched i dont know which. my daughter has a shinning to cats, they absolutly love her.

now there comes Sofie, our little Jack Russell. my hubby pulled over on the side of the road to talk on the phone and she came out of the woods. no houses around or anything. she was about 5 wks old and is now the terror of the house. swear to God having a JR is like having a doxie on crack!

the ones who have passed are (wont list them all there are so many!)

dog: stray who was the most well behaved chow or dog for that matter i have ever seen, loved that dog!

Angel: kitten i had since i was 11 had to have HIM put down about 4 months after my daughter was born in 2000. he was about 18. miss him dearly

Misha: oh my misha kitty! this cat was, well...there arent words. i loved this cat more than any other animal i ever had! i had to have him put down when my daughter was about 2 weeks old. with all the post pardum depression and all that was the worst for me. i miss that cat! i had him cremated and they put him in a little tin with a kitty sleeping on the top that looks just like him. he sits on my nightstand table. i have instructions to have him mixed with my ashes when i pass. that may sound wierd but i dont care, i love my kitty. i love my kitty so much i named my son Michael which is Misha in russian.

last but surley not least the 3 jack russells we have had in the past: 2 jacks and one pup. they were all good dogs and i miss them dearly.

i cant wait to see all my wonderful pets at that rainbow, i have been lucky to have had wonderful ones!

btw, all calico cats are female and all orange tabby's are male. call your calie the warden! since she is judge, jurry and exo of your barn!

I had no idea! That makes life easier maybe that's why I instinctively called her a she. I've only had 3 other cats in my life.
There was an orange tom cat where I grew up who would jump in your car window if you drove past his house with your windows down. Scared the you know what out of you when he did it too because you would never see him coming!

Kitty, who I had as a child until she disappeared one day. Beautiful grey cat.

Spook who we found around Halloween time and of course was solid black!

Laney who we inherited from our neighbor because she spent more time at our house than hers. That cat could climb up a 2-story brick wall, we had her 12 years and she had been around at least 3 years before that. She was black and white. Had to put her down last summer.

Miss tina, I have a Laney, too! Except she's a dog. Or at least, she's supposed to be. Most of the time she acts like one of the children. She was a throwaway, and the lady that gave her to us was calling her "lady". She's such a big goofball, that just didn't fit, so it turned into "Laney"

My favorite was the cat we had named Lassie. Actually, she began her life named Sassy. This was about 10 years ago when that commercial was on tv about the heart smart pills for dogs, you know the one where the lady comes to the back door and says, "Laaaasie, come get your heart smart..." That crazy cat would come running to the tv every time she heard that commercial, so of course, we just couldn't resist the logical name change.

It was a great deal of fun to go to the door and call "lassie" and see the look on people's faces when this tiny grey kitty came scampering in.

No idea how I missed this post but I so enjoyed reading everyone's comments. My heart goes out to those who've lost their pets. We've been there too many times.

Names? Well all our pets have been rescued for one reason or another and from various sources. "Star" isn't as it seems on the surface, because he was a tv star after appearing with me on a rescue league spot, telling about the foster programs. He's a black tuxedo cat and was so ill they were going to put him to sleep. We decided to give him a home until the time came, but he is still with us 10 yrs later and probably the healthiest cat we have now!

"Mogwaii" is a barn kitty who I just adore. She has huge ears and a tiny body. A friend said she'd be a good mouser, and she is. Her face as a kitten reminded me of the movie "Gremlins" and those were called mogwaii's - so it just seemed to fit to me.

"Roman" was our lab mix who just recently passed after living with us for 15 years. We got him from the rescue league as a pup, after just losing our dearest family member, "Tip" - Retreiver/Shepherd mix, who'd just died. We got Tip when his family was moving to CO and couldn't take him. Tip was his name and we just didn't have the heart to change it since he was already 3 when we got him. But he deserved a far more regal name... he could literally read your mind. I have no doubt Tip would have laid down his life to protect us. Anyway, we felt the next dog we got had to have a much more fitting name, thus Roman.

Previous animal names: Simone, Kiki, Kiwa, Kiwi, Patches, Sammi, Sonia, Posh, Angel (cats), Mr. Smith, Baron, Kinsey, (dogs) - and I'll stop with those. Again, some names were already given to the pets we inherited.

I enjoyed this post. Thanks.

Do goats count? Charlotte Johnson isn't a pet, but I love the story of how she was named.

We bought her from a farm down the road, and the lady asked me to please not change her name because 1) she was about 4 at the time and knew her name, came when called and 2) there was a special story about Charlotte Johnson's naming.

This lady and her hubby were going out to celebrate their wedding anniversery. Before they left, she ran out to the barn to check on their Nubian milk goat who was due to kid anytime, and of course, there she was...doing just that. The folks hung around to make sure she was going to be able to deliver ok, good thing they did, cause one huge doeling was coming breech and momma goat couldn't deliver without assistance. After quite a struggle, they finally got the kid turned and out, but she wasn't breathing. So the lady grabbed her by her back legs and swung her around till she got her lungs pumping. She said the country music song "Just a Swingin' " was popular at that time, so they named the little doe kid "Charlotte Johnson" for the girl in the song. I don't believe they ever made it to their dinner reservation, either.

I had lived with a roommate who had three cats and when I moved out I realized I missed the cats more than the roommate so I went looking for my own. A woman in my apartment complex was giving away kitties and I had this idea that I wanted a cat to name Shadow. I picked a brother and sister and the woman's little girl proudly told me their names and that she had named them. Since I lived next door and the little girl was a regular visitor and it seemed real important to her, I kept their names: Salem and Samantha. Seemed good names for black kitties, anyway and the little girl was so relieved that I didn't change them. Their names have morphed over the years and they only get called those names when they are in trouble. Samantha degenerated into Sammy but rapidly became Squeaky (as in the Squeaky wheel gets the oil) because she is sooooo verbal when she wants something and she wants it neowwwww! Salem morphed into Gorgeous Boy as in "that's my gorgeous boy.

I was disappointed because I had really wanted a cat named Shadow. Just this thought in my mind that kept nagging me. However, I went to the pet store as we all must to acquire loot for my new babies. They weren't there when I entered but when I came out there was another little girl with a box of kittens. Since I had kitten fever at the time, I knelt to look, after telling them that I just got two new kittens and so wasn't interested but aren't they sweet!. They were kittens. No special thing about them, just that good feeling you get when petting baby animals, but as I got up to leave, one of them reached out and snagged my sleeve and then patted my gently on the hand with her soft little white gloved paw. I looked into her golden eyes and knew this was Shadow. And she has been my shadow ever since. She sleeps next to me even on the hottest days and when I am on the computer, she is on the keyboard tray. Yes, I moved the keyboard so Shadow could be next to me after she got too big to be on my lap without digging in. She is the most elegant thing, a pretty gray blue tabby with white bib and little white paws. I knew the land lady was a little miffed by all the cats in the complex (the woman I got my other two from I had found out let her Queen loose all the time and never got a chance to spay her because she (the cat) was always already pregnant or nursing). So I tucked my Shadow into my purse and snuck her into the house.

At this time my ex-roommate decide three cats were too many for one person to handle (I had been taking care of them) and dumped Wally on me. So now I had four cats! Yikes. ( Wally has since gone to the RB, but he was the kind of cat that when I called the vet and got an appointment, they didn't recognize my name but when they heard it was Wally they went nuts. "Wally! How's Wally!" That cat had more friends than I did! People still ask and talk about him.)

That was quite a time with three active eight week old kittens and one grumpy and huge (16lbs) older neutered male. They all got used to each other and Wally took over a lot of the grooming of the little ones. He mostly pinned them down and licked them from head to toe when they were annoying him. It was one way to settle them down.

Fast forward four years. I'm sitting on my patio porch swing and this stray comes up, looking starved and it's definitely a feral. It has the notched ear of the capture-and- release program in the county. It's just so shy and pitiful looking. So I go in to get a bowl of food. Feed it. It waits until I settle back on the swing before it goes near the food. This happens everyday for about two weeks. I talk to it. I call it a mooch because it always comes to the door for a handout. Then one day I place the bowl, sit on my swing to watch, It doesn't eat. I worry. I baby-talk it. This feral, who hasn't let me near it for two weeks and won't touch the food until I am firmly in my place, walks over to me, leaps in my lap and stands on his back legs to put his paws on my shoulder and purr in my ear! I put my arms around him. He purrs louder. I stand up with him in my arms. He purrs even louder. I take him into the house and call the vet for an appointment, still in my arms. When asked for a name, I say Mooch. That is how Moochie came to live with us and got his name.

This is a set of haiku I wrote for them:

HAIKU FOR CATS

Samantha:
Her lemon-lime eyes
and tummy growling loudly
Now! cries lemon-lime.

Salem:
Luminescent Eyes
Timidly asking for touch.
Obsidian fur.

Shadow:
Royal russet nose,
with pristine bib and white toes,
Pretends not to care.

Wally:
Nose buried in paw,
age torments the waking cat,
sleeping kitten snores.

Mooch:
Greedy striped stranger
slides inside unseen to purr,
no longer so strange.

mijuco, LOVE the Charlotte Johnson story and of course goats count, unless you plan on eating it.
We went to our neighbor, widow Betty, and picked out a puppy. I picked out the largest male there was. The momma didn't want me near them so I hurridly pushed him over to my daughter in the truck and slid in. I turned to say something as I was backing out and didn't see the pup. My 4 yr. old tells me that she dropped it out the window, it was too big! I get out and there is the sweetest, blackest puppy wanting to play so I pick her up and tell the little one not to drop this one please before this momma eats me.
She starts out as Tweetie because that's what the 4yo calls her. My great uncle Joe always called me Tweedie Pie so Tweetie evolved in less than 2 hours to Tweedie Pie.
My step-daughter comes to visit and wants to rescue another pup. We had debated 2 so I gave in. They came back with another little girl, only she's a big little girl! I wanted to name her Chloe' but SD has already named her Precious. So now we have Tweedie and Precious. It doesn't end there. I really liked Chloe' and pup #1 responded to that name so I changed Tweedie Pie to Chloe' Tweedie Pie and she knows her name The 4yr starts calling Precious Kake' so her name is now Kake' Precious Pie. But she is a whiney little thing so I pretty much call her whiney butt. We're enjoying them but they'll never replace our Nixie Knox.
I have so enjoyed everyone’s tales of tails! I can almost see eyes light up when you talk of your loved pets and I can imagine eyes tearing when you reminisce of lost loved ones.
