Food How many cans of basic things like corn and green beans do you store for a year for two people

buy big around Thanksgiving & Christmas - the name brands get down uber uber cheap for door openers >>> stock up for the year and rotate thru them

I restock the holes in my pantry every two weeks. I "go big" on stocking during the holidays when lots of food I use on a regular basis is on sale. Other times I "go big" is when Sam's have their sales going on. The sale lasts all month, and I take big advantage of it.

Ok cans are good for a few years and convenient but have some issues. I listed some of them for newbies.

Sodium. I know SHTF and sodium will probably be the least of one's worries. Still for some a health issue. Dents and spoilage: I've had them go bad while in date and undented. Rotation of cans is a must to avoid waste. Inventories are a good idea. It's real easy to run out of favorites or the most often used ones. Space; canned veggies take more space than freeze dried or dehydrated.

Tip: Strongly suggest you don't store cans in an unheated garage over a hot summer and cold winter and expect the food to be fine. Personal experience: I was sick as a dog.

Reminds me: put canned veggies on shopping list.

I stored many many cases of canned foods in my school bus. Seemed like a good thing to do at the time because I was living in a fema camper. By the time I dumped them they had been there for several years in not climate controlled situation. When I bought all that food it was for two and when I moved to the woods it was just me and I really didn't eat all that much. I did buy those veggies when I could still get them for 3/$1, maybe in same cases 4/$1.

Most of my storage is in the house, but I do have some in the she shed, which reminds me I need to go turn on the a/c out there.

God is good all the time

All of my food storage is in a climate controlled room in my house. A fan to keep it cool during the summer with plenty of ventilation. Sometimes with the A/C. I've never lost anything to cold or heat. I have a storage barn. That's where non food items are stored, or in my laundry room.

I have set up my regular pantry for a 2 year rotation. I check the pantry often for any hints of spoilage.

Any government snoopers out there, they can pound sand.
