Food Homemade cookbooks for the kids

For Christmas I'm working on homemade cookbooks for the kids, not kid's cook books. It will have favorite family recipes that have been passed down by prior generations and recipes for prep/SHTF.

If I'm not around, hopefully it will give them some idea of what to do with what maybe available. At least that's the plan.

Great idea! I just don’t have time to do it now. Couldn’t you have mentioned this in October? Lol. On the agenda for next year. If I can remember. Ha!

I did that back when my kids were in college/young adults. Might not be a bad idea to pull together a "family" cookbook (and get recipes from the kids, who have their own traditions these days). Most of the favorites (such as a crescent roll recipe that can be made the night before and then baked while the turkey or ham are resting for truly fresh rolls) have been passed on via phone calls or e-mail over the years, as they had a craving for whatever the "special" was...

I think these days, except in the case of those who are really struggling financially, gifts like this one are MUCH better and more appreciated than more "stuff", that either gets used, wrecked, displayed out of guilt, or put out in a garage sale in a few years.

Is there any collection of such recipes here? I don’t normally run around in these rooms.
My wife ordered half a dozen blank cookbooks with a similar thought, but it turns out they are bound, not loose-leaf, so she can’t copy or print pages for the books, have to write them out by hand. Oopsy!

That's what I'm trying to do. Leaving a few pages up front for an index. Also plan to include who in the family submitted the recipe and short family stories to go with. Might be done by Easter. Sigh.

What i did when i got the bright idea to make a permanent record book of various herbal formulas and remedies I've invented or discovered was to buy a bound book. But my handwriting is atrocious, so i bought some inexpensive "parchment paper "for the computer printer (it's thinner than regular printer paper, and a bit better looking than plain white paper). I use a decorative font which looks like handwriting or legible calligraphy, and print the info or formula on the parchment,

Then i cut it out, usually a bit free-form with rounded corners, and glue it to a page in the bound book.

You couldn't fill the book completely like this, because it would be too bulky. But alternating handwritten pages and the glued/printed ones works well.
