Further working through the scenario in my mind, once in full-blown defense against the zombie hoards mode, we would probably be shooting more from cover than outside walking around as sniper targets. So, I guess to answer my own question, I should focus on the .308 ammo (the SKSs are iron sights), with the .223 as a second choice, so maybe a 60/40 or 70/30 .308/.223 ratio for new ammo acquisition. What do you think?

where do you buy your ammo?

I was wondering about the best/easiest place to buy ammo. We have been going locally to a gunshop, walmart and Bi-mart. It sounds like some of you buy it and have it shipped to you. Am I reading this right?

Just today I received my order from SGAmmo. Gotta say I like these folks. Good prices, same day shipping, and prompt/friendly customer service.

As far as not knowing what one has, I would suggest doing what I did and just make a spreadsheet.
I updated mine recently and found 1 hole I wanted to fill and as of today that hole is filled. :)

I concur! I have to pay Oklahoma sales tax, but still buy from SGAmmo often. Really good people...family business.
