Have Unusual Request

This is an unusual request, and I apologise in advance if anyone is offended by it. But, the power of this boards prayer warriors has impressed me many times, and I'm feeling a little in need of prayer.

Three days ago, two of our new NZW (New Zealand White) rabbits started sneezing with a fair amount of mucus coming out of their noses. We have an excellent rabbit vet in the area (two and a half hour drive), so I took them to him. He's got them on antibiotics, acidopholis (sp?), and is culturing a sample of the mucus to check to see if it's pastuerella (sp?) or staph, both of which are icky, but staph can be cured, the other quite often is only controlled.

Then, yesterday morning, my DD's Holland Lop, Beauty, went into labor. It was too early for the kits to survive, so we accepted we would probably lose the litter early on. First kit was born dead, the second got stuck and had to be pulled out. Needless to say, it was also dead. Then, her labor stopped. I called the vet, they were closed, and referred us to the local (1/2 hour away) emergency vet hospital. Thank God, the hospital has just hired a new vet who is specializing in rabbits, she got Beauty right in, gave her some oxytocin (hormone) to get the labor going again. She also took an x-ray and discover that there were 4 more kits still in there! Understand, Beauty's only a 3 pound rabbit! That's a LOT of kits for such a little girl.

Well, to make a long story short (too late!), Beauty labored mightily, finally producing one more dead kit, labor stopped again, and couldn't be restarted, and the vet and I agreed that we had to do a C-section. Rabbits are VERY fragile, and often die during surgery, but Beauty's a tough little girl, survived surgery, uterus intact, and 4 (!) more dead kits were removed! 7 Kits!

While Beauty and I were waiting for the vet to get the surgery ready, she laid on my chest, exhausted. She looked into my eyes and surrendered her fate to me. I have never had such an experience with an animal, and I have been VERY attached to many different animals in my life. It was indeed, a humbling experience. I cannot describe the feeling as she closed her eyes and laid her head on my chest, except I felt as though God himself spoke to me. Telling me that I had accepted the role of caretaker of these animals, it is indeed a large job, and that I was doing well. But, that this IS a test, and I have not passed YET!

Please, I beg of you. Please pray for me, and my family, and my rabbits. I very greatly feel the need of spiritual support.

Thank you.

Hmmm, kinda reminds me of something I was told. In the 'end times', the animals will talk to 'man' and tell him all the things he is doing wrong and of what God expects of him. Not saying this is what happened; just a FWIW, I guess.

You will have my prayers. The love for a pet can be as deep as a love we feel towards a human. God bless you and give you courage and comfort.

Oh (((Drive)))

It gives us sadness to here the road you have been sent down, but we know it is for a good reason. Some day you will know what this has prepared you for. Until then we will send you our prayers, and send you our love. May the Lord bless you, and give you strength in your time of need.

Drive, that was an incredible experience! I am praying that God speak to your heart, and show you the big picture, and what your role is to be. You have faithfully and lovingly cared for these precious creatures, and I believe that God has purposed for you to do even more. I have no idea what that might be, but I believe that God prepares us, sometimes in unusual ways, for whatever we are to do that fulfills our purpose here. You have been called to something very special, and God knows that you will be faithful in it.

God Bless you,
Susan

{{Drive}}.....Bunnies are so wonderful! We used to have NZW's, and a California Black. You are, indeed, a good and faithful servant. To your buns, and to all living creatures, we can clearly see. I agree with others here. That sort of revelation comes from messages being sent. We are being given messages daily, if only we have ears to hear. I think the Lord is saying you did well with caring for this small creature, through her eyes. I will say prayers for all your furfriends, and for you and your family. It's Just Me :angl:

I've had experience of God working miracles about pets. No way are such prayers out of line.

I think one of the reasons God gives us children and pets is so through those relationships we can understand how much love he has for us.

Doesn't seem like an unusual request at all, God loves all His creatures, great and small.

Sometimes I ponder on the verse in the Bible that talks about us entertaining angels, unaware that we are doing so, and wonder if they come in the form of "fur friends" that are placed temporarily in our care.

Hey, I just noticed I didn't mention in my earlier post that I'm sending prayers to the Sky Pilot on your(andyours) behalf. Sorry to have not stated it then.

A Prayer for Animals

O GOD, enlarge with us the sense of fellowship with all living things, our little brothers to whom Thou hast given this earth as their home in common with us.

May we realize that they live not for us alone, but for themselves and for Thee, and that they love the sweetness of life even as we, and serve Thee better in their place than we in ours.
