OT/MISC Harry and Meghan Return to England (Royal Drama)

As for the hair color of the children, Megan has a white father who has HAZEL eyes, meaning he has a recessive gene. There was a 50% chance that Megan inherited the gene.

Since already know Harry has it, since he has red hair and hazel eyes, that means any children have a 50/50 chance of having red hair/hazel eyes.

When a red-haired parent (rr) has children with a carrier parent (Rr), the mathematical odds for each child are:

Meghan (Carrier: Rr) \ Harry (Red: rr)r (Harry)r (Harry)
R (Meghan)Rr (Brown/Black hair, Carrier)Rr (Brown/Black hair, Carrier)
r (Meghan)rr (Red hair)rr (Red hair)

  • 50% Chance: The child inherits the red gene from both parents and has red hair (rr).
  • 50% Chance: The child inherits a non-red gene from Meghan and a red gene from Harry, making them a carrier with darker hair (Rr).

Given it is unlikely Meghan is the biological mother, it is anyone's guess as to what the mother's genetics are. Meghan is said to have had a hysterectomy years before hooking up with Harry. The photos of her baby bump slipping pretty much affirms she did not carry those children.

OK, a few years ago (long before Duchess Me-gain), it was rumored (seriously) that DNA tests had been done on everyone. They did announce there was an "oops" somewhere in the royal line (Charles and Queen Elizabeth). We talked about it then.

I remember saying most historians believe it was Victoria. Her mother's case is a classic situation in historical novels and SF books because it can happen in the Bronze Age or on Planet Zeno in the 25th century.

A terrified (and pretty) 18-year-old girl, married to a dying elderly man, who knows her life is "over" if she doesn't produce an "heir.

Since Henry VIII made the UK "Protestant" (really Anglican, not Catholic with the Pope), she couldn't even look forward to a restricted but interesting life as an Abbess. This was the traditional role for "failed" Princesses and Queen Consorts (almost every queen is really a Queen Consort, unless she is a rare Queen Regnant, like Victoria or Elizabeth - and almost Queen Matilda).

Anyway, Victoria was raised by the widowed Princess and her "special friend," an Irish military man, who had many of the things celebrated about Victoria but didn't see them in the Princess or other royal family members. Like musical ability and several other traits.

The moment she became Queen Regnant, she banished her mother and her "special friend" from court. She would have had to give permission for them to legally marry, and there is no record that she was ever even asked. The "special friend" had tried to force a sick young Princess, about to become queen (the flu or something), to sign over her "authority" to HIM and HER MOTHER until she was at least 24 years old.

She managed to refuse and as soon as her Uncle died and she was declared Queen, the first thing she did was demand her own bedroom (without her mother watching her).

She quickly married her cousin Albert and kicked Mummy and "Friend" out of the building altogether.

I study this stuff partly because I like historical puzzles and because I am a part-time writer, and these situations occur with variations on a theme from ancient Sumer to mythical planets in a galaxy far, far away.

Edited to add that the "Story of the Rebel younger brother or sister" is a common meme in literature, as is the screaming princess. I'm reading a book where that role is being played out right now, in the late Middle Ages.

what now?!?
Moving to wherever a wealthy friend has offered them a bolthole, probably outside the UK. I have a feeling (just a hunch - not a prediction) that the lawsuit has bankrupted them (the one they lost against the UK Daily Mail), and they came back to the UK hoping to start earning money again, either as "working royals" or at least doing that sort of not-really-work.

Oh, and I think they got word that Trump was serious about throwing Harry out of the US based on his admission that he used illegal substances in the past and probably lied about it on his residency application. Usually, Americans have the legal right to bring their foreign-born spouse into the United States on at least a residency visa, but not if they've lied about something on their application.

Oh, and I've mentioned The Tale of the Younger Prince or The Spare Heir several times in these stories - it is really what I meant when I mentioned the rebel.

The Rebel or Spare Heir can be anything from a hero when the older sibling is a tyrant (or held hostage by their advisors) to a horrible enemy trying to destroy the Kingdom and become a tyrant.

What is the source of the information and chart, if I can ask? IIRC, the whole genetics issue is more complex these days with more knowledge = less certainty.

I got this statement from OpenAI's Astra:

The original statement uses a correct Punnett square but makes unsupported assumptions about the parents’ genes. Hazel eyes do not establish that someone carries a red-hair variant, and red hair and hazel eyes are not inherited as a single trait. Nigerian or European ancestry percentages also cannot establish which variants someone carries. Red-haired children are entirely possible for a red-haired father and a dark-haired mother, but actual hair-color genetics involve multiple genes. The stated 50% probability applies only to the assumed simplified model—not to this couple on the evidence provided.

I just wonder what their take was out of $2.2 million raised.

NEED TO KNOW

  • Prince Harry was asked about his recent return to the U.K. during his first public event since moving back to his home country
  • The Duke of Sussex attended the inaugural Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner and Awards
  • There, he told reporters that the last couple of weeks had been “eventful”
Prince Harry was asked about his recent return to the U.K. as he stepped out for his first public event since his family’s move.

The Duke of Sussex, 42, attended the inaugural Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner and Awards in London on Thursday, Sept. 17, marking his biggest outing to date since moving back to England with Meghan Markle, 45, and their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.

Asked to pick a highlight of his return, he joked: “My highlight so far? Oh, I don’t know. Would I dare share it with you?”

“The last two weeks have been…it’s been eventful,” he continued. “But, you know, we’re getting stuck into the work. Kids are in school. We’re happy. And as I said, it’s great to be back on British soil, and looking forward to Birmingham next year for the Invictus Games that’s coming up.”

The inaugural Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner and Awards raised $2.2 million toward the Invictus Games movement, supporting veterans and service personnel. Harry, a British Army veteran, created the Invictus Games in 2014, an international adaptive sporting competition inspired by the U.S.’s Warrior Games.

Meghan didn’t join Harry at the gala, as an insider says her focus is on getting the children settled in following the move.

PEOPLE understands that Prince Harry and Meghan plan to establish a non-royal home base in the U.K., while maintaining their previous residence in Montecito, Calif., where they lived for six years.

Archie and Lili started school shortly after the family arrived in England. However, just two days into the term, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved their children to a different school amid security concerns.

A spokesperson for the couple told PEOPLE at the time, “The decision for the children to move schools was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements.”

“The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family,” the spokesperson adds. “This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”

Prince Harry and Meghan’s return to the U.K. does not mean a return to their past roles as working royals, from which they stepped back in 2020. King Charles reiterated this in a letter issued via the Lord Chamberlain, Lord Benyon, on Sept. 7.

The letter stated that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “no longer working Members of The Royal Family” and said their position, including the “personal latitude it brings the couple in respect of financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish,” would continue to be respected.

“In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests,” the letter continued.

However, a source close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex pushed back on the description as “private citizens,” telling PEOPLE, “They are public figures. Members of the public know who they are. The idea that they can live a normal, ‘private’ life is sadly not realistic.”

It emerged on Sept. 9 that Uganda was pulling out of the Invictus Games, a decision that a source told PEOPLE was a “direct result” of the Lord Chamberlain’s letter, believing the Duke of Sussex’s contest lacked the King’s support. However, the decision was reversed following a phone call between General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and head of the country’s armed forces, and the King’s principal private secretary, Sir Clive Alderton, reassuring him that the monarch had “no problem” with the Invictus Games.

Prince Harry also celebrated his 42nd birthday on Sept. 15. Meghan marked the occasion by sharing new posts on Instagram, including photos of Harry in dad mode with Archie and Lili.

The article said they were pulled from the school due to "security issues with traffic," which might be true. I also wonder if maybe that school was just going to be too costly. If money is an issue, it might be less expensive to homeschool them, at least at first. If they go that route, that's probably the real reason.

I think at least Harry was counting on becoming a "working royal," again, and without that income, they might be nearly dead in the water in terms of the lavish lifestyle that I'm sure Meghan would like to be living. It will be interesting how long it takes for them to sell the house in California.

Added: I thought Harry might have allergies and be reacting to his meds, but he doesn't seem to have allergies, so who knows? If I had to live with Meghan, I'd probably take up smoking weed!

HST-loQb0AArO73.jpgPrince Harry reveals he will not feel safe unless his security is beefed up

Duke and Duchess of Sussex granted security review after return to UK

Committee to reconsider Harry and Meghan’s publicly funded police protection now they are full-time residents

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will have a review of their publicly funded security following their return to the UK.

The royal and VIP executive committee (Ravec), which oversees tax-funded security for royalty and public figures, is to reconsider Harry and Meghan’s level of police protection.

The committee met last week to discuss the couple’s case, now they and their children are full-time residents in the UK and not just visitors.

It will be the first risk assessment for Meghan since the couple stepped back as working members of the royal family in 2020.

Harry was granted a review of his security in July but has yet to receive a decision.

The Telegraph has reported that Ravec’s chair informed Harry last week the committee had commissioned a new risk assessment and a separate one for Meghan, in light of their return to the UK.

The committee has reportedly asked the couple to provide their schedules and daily routine, including the school run, to inform their decision.

Last year, Harry lost a legal challenge against the Home Office after the automatic tax-funded security for him and his family was withdrawn when the couple stood down as working royals.

“The UK is my home,” said Harry in his witness statement. “The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the US. That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil. I cannot put my wife in danger like that and, given my experiences in life, I am reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way too.”

The couple returned to the UK on 26 August. Soon after, a formal letter was issued on behalf of King Charles, reiterating their status as non-working royals.

The letter stated the couple were “akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests” and “any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant police authorities”.

The Sussexes also decided on Monday to switch their children to a new school just two days after they started, reportedly due to security concerns over the long journey and heavy traffic.

“The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” a family spokesperson told Hello! magazine.

“The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family.

“This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”

SIGH. He should find paying work and purchase his own security - since the palace admin don't think he warrants "royal" security.
I agree, but Harry does not have any marketable skills from which to earn his own living. All he has is his "royalty" that he thinks somehow entitles him to vast wealth simply because he was born a prince. He was a working royal but didn't want to do the work, and his extremely poor judgment in trying to make a living off of his victimhood has grown old.

Much worse than here, the schools those little kids attend is so ingrained in tradition and status that it's a huge part of their adult identity and social connection. Bet Harry and the M-person didn't want them missing out on it.

As for income - pretty sure Harry has received generous inheritance from his mother Diana's estate and his great-grandmother the Queen Mother. More than enough to keep them housed anywhere in the world in a "manner to which they've become accustomed" if spent and invested wisely. Sympathy? Nope.

I read they are starting an Only Fans account, since the royals are all into kinky stuff.
Harry already had nude photos published on the front page of the Daily Mail. Apparently he'd been playing strip poker in Las Vegas with some new women friends. It might even have been while he was still in the military. Nothing worth paying for.

Is Harry campaigning for the military?

Prince Harry salutes as the Last Post is played as he joins British troops and service personal remaining in Afghanistan and also International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) personnel and civilians as they gather for a Remembrance Sunday service at Kandahar Airfield November 9, 2014 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. As the UK combat mission in Afghanistan draws to an end in 2014 this year, which also marks the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One, 70 years since the D-Day landings will be the last time British service personal will gather in any great numbers in the south of the country.

NEED TO KNOW

  • Prince Harry virtually addressed the NATO Military Committee this week
  • The Duke of Sussex shared that he felt he’d lost part of his “purpose and identity” after leaving the military, helping inspire him to start the Invictus Games
  • “We are building a global movement that can turn the experience of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and their families into stronger communities, better systems and more resilient nations”
Prince Harry virtually addressed the NATO Military Committee this week, speaking about his experience in serving and how it helped inspire him to start the Invictus Games.

Speaking via videoconference to the committee’s headquarters in Brussels, the Duke of Sussex, 42, opened his remarks by thanking them for welcoming him back after a previous video appearance in October 2024.

“A great deal has changed since then. But what has not changed is the common ground between NATO and Invictus — and my belief that there is far more we can do together,” he said. “Because at its heart, NATO is an alliance of nations. But those nations are defended by people. People who volunteer to serve. People who train together, deploy together, fight together and in many cases, recover together. And families who serve alongside them in ways that are rarely acknowledged. And ultimately, people who come home.”

Prince Harry noted that, for as many resources are spent sending men and women to war, there are far fewer waiting for them on the other side of their service.

“I know something about that transition,” he recalled. “When I hung up my uniform, I felt as though I had lost not simply a profession, but part of my purpose and identity.”

The Duke of Sussex noted that he was “fortunate” in that he had “another way to serve” as a member of the royal family, and he said he started the Invictus Games to help others “find their way forward.”

“Invictus is not a sporting event,” Harry said. “Sport is one of our tools. Our mission is much bigger. We rebuild purpose. We rebuild confidence. We strengthen families and communities. We connect veterans back into society. And increasingly, we connect nations so they can learn from each other about recovery, rehabilitation, mental health and life after service.”

Prince Harry stressed to NATO leaders that it is particularly important to support veterans who have been injured or wounded during their military service, as they may struggle with the same feelings of purposelessness that he did after leaving the Army.

“They may never wear the uniform again. But they can still lead. They can still serve. They can still strengthen their community and their country. And they can become some of the most credible role models we have — particularly for the next generation. That is character built from service. Values embedded in one’s blood.

“That is the Invictus Spirit,” he continued. “We are building a global movement that can turn the experience of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and their families into stronger communities, better systems and more resilient nations.”

Prince Harry went on to introduce two fellow veterans and Invictus leaders, who also addressed the military committee: Chief Programmes and Strategy Officer David Wiseman and Deputy CEO Richard Smith.

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chair of the NATO Military Committee, thanked Prince Harry and the Invictus team in a post on X following their remarks.

“After having met them recently in Kyiv, I was once again struck by their clear vision and genuine commitment to those who have carried the heaviest burden of service,” he wrote. “#NATO and Invictus share values of community, respect and belonging. Our veterans’ commitment does not end when the uniform comes off, and neither should our support. No soldier fights alone, and no veteran should recover alone.”

The NATO appearance is the latest in a long line of engagements Harry has carried out since moving his family back to the U.K. last month. His wife, Meghan Markle, 45, and their children — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5 — have largely remained out of the spotlight as they settle into their new home and school.

On Sept. 17, he attended the inaugural Invictus Spirit Awards, which were created to celebrate the organizations that have helped strengthen the international community surrounding the Paralympic-style sports competition for wounded, injured and sick armed service members.

The following day was another Invictus-centered event in Birmingham, England — the site of the 2027 Invictus Games —where he played pickleball with fellow veterans and met with 200 students.

Last week, after completing a daring skydive outside Toronto to make good on a promise to a 102-year-old World War II veteran and raise awareness and support for military charities, Harry spoke with CTV about how returning to the U.K. has benefited both his home life and his philanthropic efforts.

“The kids are happy in school, and it gives me a chance to really focus on Invictus in Birmingham,” Harry said.

Harry is about the only one who might pull it off.
Doubtful, in my opinion.

Harry isn't well regarded by Brits as he once was. His stunts with the Oprah interview, the Netflix series, and his book, Spare did him no favors in his homeland. He is only slightly less loathed across the pond than his odious wife.

Harry is doing his damndest to unofficially abrogate the conditions he agreed to during Megxit, those exact same conditions his father, King Charles III formally and very publicly reiterated mere weeks ago. His recent visits and speeches to NATO and Ukraine give a false imprimatur that he is again a "working Royal", which he is not, and I doubt he ever will be, certainly not after William ascends to the throne.

He wants his taxpayer funded, world-wide beefed-up security he once enjoyed to be given back to him, and is concocting all sorts of ways to put the spotlight on himself (and his family) to demonstrate how "important" and how much of a target he is. His recent public appearances have not drawn the crowds they once did, and the reception he was given was lukewarm, and widely mocked.

Harry is a very dull and spoiled man-child, led by his nose (or other appendage) by a raging narcissistic woman with a past. Harry would do well to sit down, shut up, and get on with "being a Dad", as he said he was going to do when he announced his return.

The only possible half fix is Meghan gets offed publically along with the kiddos and a message to harry, one word and you are next.

Good analysis. Sounds like he is getting bullet points from a PR team.

Sounds like he is getting bullet points from a PR team.

One would think so, yes. But the truth of the matter is, they have gone through twenty or so public relations staff since they sprinted away from Britain six years ago. That number also includes those working for their foundation, Archwell, and isn't an exaggeration. They had a disastrous relationship with a top-tier public relations firm, Sunshine Sachs, early on. Ari Emanuel, principle at WME (arguably THE top talent and media agency, anywhere), initially personally handled Harry and Meghan but no longer handles them due chiefly to her insisting she knows better than anyone about everything and was extremely difficult to get along with. He intimated in his recently released memoir that he is glad to be rid of her. Coming from an intense scrapper (himself), that speaks volumes, in my opinion.

She can not and will not take direction from anyone other than herself and is known for being incredibly rude to any and all. Harry is a numpty and defers to her. These two have gone through pubic relations professionals like shit through a goose. The needle on the Dunning-Krueger-O-meter is pegged by them. They take advice from and listen to no one other than themselves, with disastrous results.

I believe he got out of that state prior to the 10 years deadline, which also makes a difference in a divorce.
He knows what is inevitable and is making sure he gets the kids.

One can hope. He'll at least make sure they get an education. I don't think returning them to the US is in their best interests at this point. I don't care what happens to Meghan. She's her own worst enemy.

I didn't listen to the video but a recent one claimed H took the kids passports with HIM when he flew to NY to do a speech.
That sez a buttload. He is making sure wife doesn't abscond back to Cali with the children, behind his back. Where she gets a more favorable adjudication in a divorce.

Well, maybe he isn't a complete idiot. Then again he better have gotten a prenup.

Why would NATO or Ukraine want to hear a speech by Harry? What insight into anything could he possibly provide? Is someone being paid to give him a stage so as to make him appear relevant?
