Crochet Hair tie head band

regular headbands give me a horrible headache so instead of looking for yarn to make one I found one on Etsy's Rain Country Homestead (great utube group) and ordered it . They shipped quickly and it works really well and stays put. Gonna look around for yarn that I have stashed somewhere (probably out in the school bus) and make some in different colors. Its a simple stitch.

I finally figured out how to knit a headband that works for me and have made a few to match some of my sweaters and sweatsuits. I try to tack them at the join so that I can take them apart and shorten them, because they always seem to stretch a little after a time. Or maybe my head is shrinking, along with my hair disappearing, but it's really irritating when the doggoned things keep sliding forward or backward instead of staying where they belong to keep my ears warm and my hair off my face.

Too bad you can't wear regular headbands.

Here's a tip.....for the grubby headbands you've worn while working hard enough for your head to sweat, use the same shampoo to hand wash them that you use to shampoo your hair. I've never cared for anything but Prell, and it gets headbands REALLY clean!

If you can't show a picture, could you describe the hair tie you've discovered?

Heidi at Rain Country is my favorite for everything...prepping, cooking, crochet, sewing, gardening, dehydrating, fermenting. And her husband is like McGyver. Love that channel!

I made one a few months ago. Checked out the YouTubes, Pinerest pages, etc. I liked the way it came out, but am in big cotton bandannas for now, that wool is too hot. Headbands from the store are almost always too tight on me.

Thank you for posting the video. I really enjoyed it. I have a large storage container full of yarn and have been wanting some small quick crochet projects.

Wow! Thanks for the video, Judy! I have long hair almost to my waist, and I love wearing headbands. Like you, some of them give me headaches, too. I have a big box of them in different colors, along with different colored scrunchies for ponytails. These are so simple to make, I think I will give it a shot with some yarn I have stored away. I use different colored bandanas, too, but they're too hot in the summer for me.

The scrunchies work well for me. I use them to put my hair in a ponytail, then twist my hair as I wrap it around the scrunchie to make a nice bun, securing it with hair pins. Just a bit of the scrunchie shows to add a little color to my bun.

I finally dug out some yarn, not exactly what I was looking for, but its a place to start. Even one skein of fake fur. Did not find the box I was looking for that has most of my needles in it but I did find three sixes of crochet hooks and one Pair of knitting needles. Its enough to piddle around with making head bands. I just need to look deeper.

I've made three headbands, one is not long enough but nice ( I need to take an end apart and make it longer). The last one I've made is from yarn I recently ordered, it looked nice on line but turned out to be very stickery, meaning its feels horrible. I would not be able to wear it because it would feel like I have thorns on my head. I wasted my money on it, shame on me for not looking deeper for more yarn.
