Gunmen Sought After 5 Are Shot at Protest of Police in Minneapolis

By ASHLEY SOUTHALL
NOV. 24, 2015

Five people were shot and wounded Monday night near a police precinct in Minneapolis where demonstrators have been protesting the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man, the police said.

The Minneapolis Police Department said in a statement early Tuesday morning that officers had responded to reports of multiple gunshots about a block north of the Fourth Precinct around 10:40 p.m. Monday. The victims were taken to hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the police said.

Miski Noor, an organizer at the Minneapolis arm of Black Lives Matter, said the shooting happened as demonstrators were escorting three masked men who had been behaving suspiciously away from the site of the rally, where people have gathered for more than a week to protest the Nov. 15 shooting of Jamar Clark, 24.

When they reached a dark area, the men turned around and opened fire on the demonstrators before fleeing, Ms. Noor said.

Three of the victims were taken to North Memorial Medical Center by a private vehicle, and two others were transported by ambulance to the Hennepin County Medical Center, according to the police statement.

Ms. Noor said one of the victims was shot in the stomach and underwent surgery early Tuesday.

The police said on Twitter that they were looking for three white male suspects. There had been no arrests early Tuesday. Officials said investigators were still collecting evidence and seeking and interviewing witnesses.

During a telephone call to the precinct, police officers were overheard reviewing surveillance video and describing a masked white man pulling out a firearm, a description that appeared to align with accounts of the shooting that witnesses had given to Ms. Noor. In accounts given on social media and to Ms. Noor, witnesses described the gunmen as three men, two white and one Asian, wearing masks and bulletproof vests.

Ms. Noor said that groups of men had been showing up to the demonstrations and “acting shady” since Friday. Witnesses reported that the men were filming protesters and refusing to answer questions about why they were there, she said. In response, the group put together a safety committee to watch for potential agitators and escort them away as a preventive measure, she said.

The police said in their statement that after the shooting, they had put more officers on patrol near the protests.

Some witnesses said on Twitter that they had been sprayed with Mace by the police following the shooting, including an organizer who was trying to film the aftermath, Ms. Noor said. The police did not respond to that accusation in a news release, and a police spokesman declined to answer questions beyond what was written in the statement.

The fatal shooting of Mr. Clark has led to a series of tense standoffs outside the Fourth Precinct police station.

Protests started within hours of Mr. Clark’s shooting, as some neighbors said that he had been handcuffed when he was shot, which contradicted statements by the Minneapolis police.

Demonstrators have pitched tents outside a police station near the shooting scene, and dozens of people have been arrested during ensuing protests. In one protest, they marched onto an interstate and blocked traffic. Last week, the police used chemical irritants after they said protesters had thrown bricks and bottles.

Activists had pledged to stay until specific demands had been met, including the release of video evidence in Mr. Clark’s shooting.

Officials have met two of the demands, agreeing to a federal civil rights investigation into the shooting and releasing the names of the two officers involved.

The officers involved in the shooting, Mark Ringgenberg and Dustin Schwarze, have worked for the Minneapolis Police Department for 13 months, though both have seven years’ experience in law enforcement.

The police said that Mr. Clark was a suspect in an assault and that he had interfered with paramedics trying to treat his victim. When officers arrived, the police said, he fought with them, leading to the gunfire. Some who said they witnessed the episode disputed that account, saying on social media or to local reporters that Mr. Clark was handcuffed when he was shot.

As in other cities where officer-involved shootings of black men have occurred, the protesters in Minneapolis have sought video evidence to resolve discrepancies between the accounts of the police and of witnesses.

Drew Evans, the superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which is conducting the state investigation, has said that the officers involved were not wearing body cameras and that there was no dashboard camera video from police cruisers. Mr. Evans said that cellphone video, surveillance footage from nearby buildings and a camera in an ambulance had captured portions of the encounter, but not all of it. Mr. Evans said that releasing that footage immediately, as protesters have requested, could compromise the investigation.

Mayor Betsy Hodges of Minneapolis issued a statement last week calling on “officers to exercise maximum restraint” and asking “protesters to act peacefully.”

“I understand that emotions are running high in the community and across the city,” her statement said. “I share many of the emotions that people are feeling in Minneapolis today.”

Mr. Clark’s family, in a statement released through Representative Keith Ellison’s office after the shooting, urged the demonstrators to end the protest outside the Fourth Precinct, citing “imminent concern” for their safety, The Associated Press reported.

Wonder if the cops being protested will hunt to hard for the shooters.

I mean they must want a world like that since going after the shooters would be business as usual and they are protesting that are they not?

Five people shot near Black Lives Matter protest site

Minneapolis Star Tribune
November 24, 2015 — 5:31am

Five protesters were shot late Monday night near the Black Lives Matter encampment at the Fourth Precinct police station in north Minneapolis, according to police.

Those who were shot sustained non-life-threatening injuries, said police spokesman John Elder in a statement.

Miski Noor, a media contact for Black Lives Matter, said “a group of white supremacists showed up at the protest, as they have done most nights.”

One of the three counter-demonstrators wore a mask, said Dana Jaehnert, who had been at the protest site since early evening.

When about a dozen protesters attempted to herd the group away from the area, Noor said, they “opened fire on about six protesters,” hitting five of them. Jaehnert said she heard four gunshots.

The shootings occurred at 10:45 p.m. on Morgan Avenue N. about a block north of the precinct station.

The attackers fled. No arrests had been made by midnight Monday. Police said via their Twitter feed that they are searching for three white male suspects.

The gunshot victims were taken to North Memorial Medical Center and Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), deputy police chief Medaria Arradondo said at the scene.

A person at the scene said one of the victims had been shot in the stomach, and was undergoing surgery overnight at HCMC.

Jie Wronski-Riley said angry protesters moved the counter-demonstrators away from the encampment at the police station. Wronski-Riley heard what sounded like firecrackers and thought, “surely they’re not shooting human beings.” Two young black men on either side of him were hit, one in the back and leg, the other in the arm.

At least two of the three men who had been taunting protesters were firing guns, said Wronski-Riley, who described the incident as “really chaotic, really fast.”

“I am obviously appalled that white supremacists would open fire on nonviolent, peaceful protesters,” said Nekima Levy-Pounds, president of the Minneapolis chapter of the NAACP, who returned to the site after the shootings.

The protesters, angry over the fatal police shooting of 24-year-old Jamar Clark on Nov. 15, have maintained a presence outside the police station ever since.

Eddie Sutton, Jamar’s brother, issued this statement early Tuesday morning in response to the shootings:

“Thank you to the community for the incredible support you have shown for our family in this difficult time. We appreciate Black Lives Matter for holding it down and keeping the protests peaceful. But in light of tonight’s shootings, the family feels out of imminent concern for the safety of the occupiers, we must get the occupation of the 4th precinct ended and onto the next step.”

So, whose word are we taking that they were White Supremacists? Are there pictures of them with KKK outfits or Arian Brotherhood tattoos?

Next, what right do the BLM protesters have to remove other counter protesters?

Then, twelve BLM protesters escort the three counter protesters somewhere. Twelve against three. Now, were these twelve gentlemen who were thoroughly courteous and polite? According to one eye witness, the three counter protesters were not escorted, but rather ran away and were chased by the twelve. It was at that point that shots were fired. It has the makings of a great self defense case.

The video of the witness is from the Minneapolis Star Tribune (link here: http://www.startribune.com/several-people-were-shot-near-black-lives-matter-protest-site/353121881/). I am unsure whether to link the video in light of current events regarding copyright infringement and board policy. If someone knows it is acceptable, and feels comfortable doing so, please feel free to post it. Watch it before it disappears.

i guess we'll just never know why that jihadi shot up chattanooga. can't even speculate because that would be hurtful

here we don't know for sure who shot or why much less what race or political affiliation they have and by God they have been tried in abstention and convicted

and i guess the whole white race will be guilty too

oh wait...weren't we supposed to keep from making hateful/hurtful speculation and weren't we supposed to keep from rushing to judgement?

well i guess we would if we didn't have protected classes and institutionalized racism

i'm sure it will be a mystery to these folks why over the coming years senseless racist white on black violence comes up to par w/ black on white senseless racist violence. it will just be unexplainable how those white folks didn't just lay down and become victims and/or die just cause they were white. it'll be a real mystery alright

too bad we can't learn from history and call out the real racists in charge of guv and end this before the whole cycle gets out of control

STAFF NEWS & ANALYSIS

Questions About Black Lives Matter

By Daily Bell Staff - November 24, 2015

More than 30 "White Student Union" pages created on Facebook in last week ... The creation of an "Illini White Student Union" Facebook page that surfaced Nov. 18 in response to a "Black Student Solidarity Rally" at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign gained national attention, but apparently it's just the tip of the iceberg. Over the last week, at least 33 other "White Student Union" pages have appeared on Facebook, according to research conducted Sunday by The College Fix. – The College Fix

Dominant Social Theme: It is time for African-Americans to seek justice.

Free-Market Analysis: The Hegelian dialectic is proceeding apace. We learn about the above "pushback" from "The College Fix." This was predictable, was it not?

These are indeed interesting times. All of a sudden there are new, "vibrant" feminist movements on campus. Hillary is running on women's rights. "Just say no" is being replaced by "Just say yes." And, of course, the "Black Lives Matter" meme is gaining strength around the US.

Formalized black slavery was a horrible thing in the US and even today black populations in the US suffer from excess incarceration, prejudice and various kinds of cultural racism. Of course, it could be said that other ethnicities suffer from prejudice as well, but the black population in the US has certainly had a rough time.

And thus a movement like "Black Lives Matter" makes sense within a historical context. It is well known by now that in the 1960s certain elite forces helped fund "radical" movements. Is the same thing happening today?

Journalist Kelly Riddell, who wrote an investigative report for The Washington Times on left-wing funding sources, has claimed that leftist billionaire George Soros is behind the movement. As reported in The Daily Beast, Riddel claimed "it was a group that was started by three women that work at Soros-backed organizations that are into community organizing, into kind of riling up activists ... They are all – all of these organizations, from a certain standpoint – funded by George Soros's Open Society Foundations. I found that within one year, George Soros dedicated $33 million to these types of organizations."

The Daily Beast provided a rebuttal from Ken Zimmerman, the director of US programs at Open Society Foundations, who claimed that "Black Lives Matter" was too amorphous to fund. However, The Daily Beast also quoted Zimmerman as saying his organization has donated money to groups working on "issues arising out of the Black Lives Matter movement." In fact, "OSF helped organize a talk with ... Patrisse Cullors and actor Danny Glover, a spokesperson said." Cullors is one of the three founders of the Black Lives Matter hashtag.

The sudden eruption of "White Student Union" Facebook pages (see initial article excerpt) seems predictable as well. Generally speaking, a "movement" is set up and then the opposition. This is the way society is steered in certain directions. Both sides are needed. From The College Fix:

These "White Student Union" pages currently exist only as social media creations, and it is not clear whether they are created by students at their respective universities. It is also unclear if these groups plan to become actual student organizations on campus, although a North Carolina university page states they plan on holding "group meetings, info sessions, rallies, and protests on the UNC campus.

Commonalities between the pages exist. Many share a copy-and-paste-like description in the "about" section. Word choices in these descriptions are largely identical across certain pages with the exception of the differing university names substituted in.

We are not the only ones to be suspicious. Over at LewRockwell.com, Thomas DiLorenzo is critical of the "Black Lives Matter movement" as well. He writes that the movement "has persuaded Princeton University President Christopher Eisgruber to begin expunging the name and image of Woodrow Wilson (Princeton president for eight years) from campus buildings because of Wilson's undeniably racist words and actions. (He re-segregated the federal government, for example)."

DiLorenzo wants the movement to target Abraham Lincoln next: "The most publicly outspoken racist and white supremacist of all American presidents ... Indeed, as Lerone Bennett, Jr. would argue, it is an abomination that young black students are taught, along with all other American students, to worship and idolize such a vulgar racist and white supremacist whose "white dream" was literally an all-white America, achieved by deporting all the black people from the country."

Unfortunately, the truth about Lincoln is not likely to be broadcast by the mainstream media. Instead, as might have been predicted, criticism of Thomas Jefferson is growing once again. We learn this from Breitbart.com:

Students at the College of William & Mary want Thomas Jefferson's status removed from campus because they call him an "incestuous rapist" and a "racist." The Jefferson statue there is now covered in yellow notes that say things including: "he knew it was wrong," "racist" "rapist," "black lives matter," and " stop worshiping racists."

The College of William & Mary, Jefferson's alma mater, is one of many schools in America where student activists are debating the legacy of the Founding Fathers and demanding the removal of anything that commemorates them ... Students at the University of Missouri are also targeting Thomas Jefferson. A petition has been created for the removal of Jefferson's statue from university grounds.

That didn't take long. Once more a civil rights movement has taken aim at individuals that have historically affirmed freedom. Ironic, isn't it?

Again, African-Americans have had a tough time, historically, in the US, a horrible, genocidal time. Slavery is an abomination and certainly so in the US. But Black Lives Matter is probably not an "independent" movement – not a sincere expression at the top anyway – but is one, we'd argue, that is likely to be funded by monied elitists that have a capitalist stake in reducing freedom in the US for purposes of consolidating power and wealth.

As before, it is this amorphous and shadowy – but evident and obvious – group that is sowing seeds of chaos in the US and indeed around the world. They are starting wars, elaborating on social movements and collapsing economies in order to further centralize power internationally.

It is difficult to comprehend the scope of all this but Black Lives Matter is likely a piece of a larger puzzle.

If you live in the West, and especially in the US, you need to internalize what's taking place currently. The attacks on Western societies and culture have expanded of late. The wars have expanded, too.

Conclusion:
As we have warned before, chaos is unleashed. Pandora's box has been furtively and deliberately unlocked. Out of chaos, "a new order." This is how it happens, and how certain forces hope it happens. Please take care.

So I just happened to be up when all this was going on and I had turned on the Live feeds. From first hand accounts before they all were inundated with their echo lies, this is what they said right after it happened. 3 guys wearing masks were roaming around the area. Many people were wearing masks both whites and blacks. They started videoing the goings on and a few of the protesters got upset and demanded they take their masks off. They refused. They were told repeatedly to take their masks off as group developed and started harassing them more and more. The three began to retreat and several protester punched them 3 times as they were retreating. They were chased "escorted" down the block and some of the group broke away when they saw one of them reaching for a weapon. When they got to a darker area, one of the guys opened fire and shot 5 of his "escorts". The protestors came running to the police and several report of the officers stating "Well you got what you wanted" and told them to call 911.

Given the history, draw your own conclusions.

After watching the video of the two Masked BLM guys, it sounds like the shooters were trying to get away, but demonstrators wouldn't let them. Kinda funny that the masked demonstrators didn't want anyone else to be masked. Special people get to make their own rules.

Shooting Victims Return To Protest, Memorial Concert Held

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — It’s happened nearly each night of the occupation at Minneapolis’ 4th Precinct. Black Lives Matter protesters say white supremacists cruise by, shoot video and scope out the crowds.

Reporter Lorena Delacuesta sensed trouble Monday night, just before a shooting sent five protesters to the hospital.

“These three guys come, three white men, covering their faces and they started arguing with the protesters,” Delacuesta said.

At 10:41 p.m., three masked men began shouting. Wesley Martin was among those who escorted them away.

Suddenly, shots rang out.

“I heard the N word and that’s when everybody started charging,” he said. “And we get to 14th and Morgan [avenues], and all I heard was pow…pow, pow, pow, pow, pow.”

Martin was shot in the leg, and his brother was also hit.

On Tuesday, a Black Lives Matter spokesperson said the violence directed at protesters only strengthens the occupation.

“What happened last night was a planned hate crime, an act of terrorism,” the spokesperson said.

By early afternoon, police had arrested two men they believe are responsible.

Minneapolis police arrested a 23-year-old white man in Bloomington around noon. A half-hour later, a 32-year-old Hispanic man was arrested in south Minneapolis.

Despite his injury, Martin returned to the protest at the 4th Precinct. It was his way of saying the cause won’t buckle to fear.

“It just went through muscle…I don’t care if I be in a wheelchair,” he said. “I’ll still be out here.”

At Tuesday’s protest, Black Lives Matter organizers asked that no one wear masks, for safety reasons. It helped set the tone for what organizers are calling a joyful, yet sorrow-filled night.

Cameron Clark was one of the victims of the shooting. He was at the precinct protesting the shooting of his cousin, Jamar Clark

“We were just asking them what’s going on,” Clark said. “They didn’t say anything. The guy in all black just opened fire on us.”

Clark was shot in the leg and foot after escorting several masked men away from the precinct.

“I’m hurting. My community needs me,” he said. “I need them and I’m not going to lay down.”

Clark left the hospital Tuesday and joined hundreds of others for a memorial concert. Black Lives Matter Minneapolis and the NAACP said they “have come together to host a day of celebration, a day of mourning and a day of community after we face this horrific tragedy last night.”

The names of the men arrested will be released when they are charged, possibly on Wednesday.

The protesters have been camping out at the 4th Precinct since the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Jamar Clark. Protesters say Clark was in handcuffs when Minneapolis police officers shot him in the head. Police dispute that claim.

Why, he and the other eleven young gentlemen were simply escorting these three racists off public property when, all of a sudden, for no reason, they called him a ****** and started shooting at him. Shame on the racists, for shame!

So, is the Hispanic racist a White-Hispanic?

Nope, definitely not just you. I have to "translate' it every time!

And no, I don't believe a word of the story, although I do have to say I believe the actions of the shooters was both dumb and provocative, IF the stories about them being masked and at the protest are true.

Yes, they have the "right" to attend the protest even if their skin isn't black, but there's "right"... and then there's "prudent". There are times for breaking the rules... but this one probably wasn't it.

So, he just admitted, and others, attacked them.
