Surely by coincidence, deaths from COVID are statistically exactly the same as deaths from pneumonia for years and decades past... they’re just calling it something different now.
But what category will they use for the disease caused by trying to prevent COVID?

Yeah, i see some infections up there in the OP.

But, seriously, this is sickening. And, it is more than likely valid...makes sense.

How about the post directly above yours. Does that serve as proof?

One needs to be balanced and unfortunately people tend to tilt to the extremes either way. A properly fitted and worn N95 or greater mask will reduce the viral innoculum your body receives if you unfortunately are exposed to the virus. The respirator will not prevent infection but can lower your exposure giving your system a lessor amount of virus and more time for your immune system to develop antibodies to the virus.

As adults people need to be properly informed without the emotional response on either side of the spectrum. Those who are older and/or who have co-morbidities should be more careful than the younger and healthier people. Young people who are healthy can and have died from the covid but they are outliers.

All that being said anyone that wants to make hay of a single person with a staph infection attributed to a mask isn’t being intellectually honest as the risk of wearing a mask is minimal. If we can avoid emotional responses and look at issues logically and calmly it’s better for all.

Covid is not the pandemic that is going to kill us all but neither is it something to be contemptuously dismissive over. It nearly killed my niece in her 40’s and in good health. The chances of you or me finding ourselves in that situation are not great but neither are they zero.

Balance!

Just today, there was an adult male riding a big 3-wheel bicycle down my street. Not a soul outside but him. Bright sunny day.

He was wearing a mask.
seeing ^^^ that ^^^ and those who drive ALONE in their car, windows up, MASK ON, those who walk across an empty parking lot 75-100 feet wearing a mask, unequivocally confirm that the "control gene" has been widely activated throughout the herd

Yes indeed, but your arguments can be made for every flu and nasty cold we have ever dealt with during flu season.
And never once were we ever forced to wear masks, close businesses or any of the other foolishness that we have endured with this virus.
Every year people who are not healthy to begin with, die from stuff that healthy people shake off.
This mask stuff is politics based, not health based.
You wanna wear one? be my guest.
Don't force anyone to do so.

I mean staph is going to happen anywhere if you dont wash! After use, that mask needs to be washed (or thrown away and not reused if a disposable). Common sense. Clothing, underwear, sheets, towels ...everything made of cloth, if it isnt washed can hold staph.

It isnt a "mask" issue, it is a cleanliness issue.

If a store stops me and requires me to wear mask then I do, and then they must give one to me on request per our COVID decrees. (I forget my mask, sorry, do you have them on hand?)

I toss the mask in their trash when I'm done shopping there

Rinse, Repeat for each new store.

I always have a new mask when I do wear one.

What we shouldn't be doing is wearing the same mask over and over, and keeping that same dirty mask on for long durations.

Bottom line, based on medical background, (Lecturing/Tutoring) nurses up to Double Diploma level:
Rule 1: wear face masks only ONCE, - if possible for no longer than 4-6 hours. RE-USING IS BLOODY DANGEROUS!
I am guessing (Can't be sure without Path lab testing) that the lass in the photo has Golden staph (Staphylococcus aureus)
Self responsibility .................. is up to YOU!

Completely agree with the cleanliness comments ... what an area to get a staph infection, that has got to be one of the most painful places to get an abscess.

With the nerves submerged in that much pus, they're essentially immune to nerve blockers and pain meds. To lance and drain that had to be excruciating to bear.

I give up.
I've mentioned this a few times before:

Before you go out, every single time, put some neosporin up your nose and all around your nose and mouth and on your lips.

It kills bacteria.

I think the staph infections arise when you don't wear a clean mask. My hubs keeps 1 in his car just in case. He reuses it over/over. Ewww and those cloth masks HAVE to be washed too!
As do I - but I rarely need it and rarely keep it on above my nose for more than a minute before I pull it down. But the OP does make me a little nervous.

I do believe that wearing masks is BS.

We are not allowed to wear a N-95 mask. They are to be reserved even at this late date for medical workers. Plus they let exhaled air escape.

But we can wear a plastic face shield sans fabric mask.

Aren't you a doctor? Can you run for mayor here?

No, but I did stay at a Holliday Inn Express once. :jstr:

My background is as an Army trained NBC officer so I do have some experience with properly fitted PPE and contamination avoidance/decontamination operations.

I still believe that the Sars/Cov2 virus was genetically engineered in a lab and either was intentionally released or escaped and I still don't want to get it as long term complications and organ damage are still an unknown at this point. We have to live with this virus as we do a multitude of other viruses and infections in the environment as there is no putting the genie back in the bottle.

There is a role for properly fitted and worn PPE including gloving and respirators for health care providers and those at moderate or higher risk even though the left is blowing things out of proportion and using fear as a control issue. Educated adults should be able to choose for themselves what protection if any to use and what kind of supplements and immune boosters they choose to use.

Problem is from my viewpoint instead of being seen as a medical and health issue it has become a polarizing left/right issue and people tend to go to the extremes in either direction and neither extreme is healthy or wise in this case.

i agree with the above completely.
i don't mind wearing a mask but my lungs do not like it
i have COPD,emphysema.asthma and i am diabetic also over weight.
when i wear a mask it does not matter what kind i wear after about 5 to 10 min or so is when the problems start.
at about 5 min i start getting dizzy approaching 10 min i start stumbling around and feel like i am going to pass out .
all masks restrict the air you are breathing in add that to COPD and you cant get enough air in to keep from having very bad problems..
the idea of smashing my head into the ground, floor or pavement is not my idea of healthy or safe for me.
so i try to stay as far from others as possible avoid crowds and i if caught in a crowd i use a mask to get away from said crowd hopefully i can get away in less than 5 min..
i have been told i will give every one covid if i don't wear a mask look at ( i got kicked out of doctors office ) thread.
but are we not told if you wear a mask you cant catch it..
so by that logic if every one else is wearing a mask and i am not i am the only one who will get it right .
so i will take my chances and go with out one it is better than passing out hitting my head and maybe ending up in a hosp or worse ending up in a coma from hitting my head on something.

Not sure about this one. Mask in one form or another have been used for years in the medical clinical fields as well as industrial environments.

Most of the masking 'orders' are supposed to have exceptions for people unable to medically tolerate the masks but if someone is asked about it I don't know how it can be proven either way.

Almost all the stores up here by me have the sign that you need a mask and one can be bought for $1 at the service counter if you don't have one but I've seen people in the stores without the masks and haven't personally witnessed anyone being rude or confronting people over it.

The most effective respirators do restrict your breathing airflow so for people in your condition that is a very valid argument against wearing them. I just wish our fascist in panty hose governor would just let people decide for themselves what level of risk people are willing to tolerate and what is appropriate for them. She was overturned by the Michigan Supreme Court for her unconstitutional over reach so she just did an end around and pressured county health departments to issue masking orders so we're back to square one again.

High school health textbooks in the 70's warned kids not to pick at pimples because strep or staph bacteria introduced there could kill you. My grandfather told us about a girl who died from squeezing a pimple in the 1920's. No masks involved.
