Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer lashed out at the legislature and citizens circulating petitions on Wednesday, claiming that attempts to limit her power are “irresponsible, dangerous, and foolish.”

“I want to be very clear,” she said Wednesday, “any attempt to strip away the powers of the governor during this time is irresponsible, dangerous, and foolish.”

Katherine Henry, an attorney from Hudsonville, authored the Restore Freedom Initiative, which would amend the state Constitution to:
  • Clarify the separation of powers, foundations and functions of government;
  • Guarantee the constitutional limitations of government during emergencies;
  • Ensure that interpretation of state law will comply with the constitution;
  • Prohibit any branch of the government from using powers belonging to another branch;
  • Removal of non-elected commissions.
According to the Mining Gazette:
The amendment also seeks to enhance government accessibility, transparency and accountability, as well as return bill-drafting to the legislators. It would also prohibit requirements upon employees or customers who are likely to impair health or safety, and modify the requirements to serve as judge or on examining/licensing boards, and the jurisdiction of the various state courts.
The organizers’ goal is to enshrine in the Michigan Constitution that government officials would no longer have the power to:
take away our rights to worship, assemble, speak freely, petition our government for a redress of grievances, or others related to our life, liberty or property – in times of emergency or not – without proving beyond a reasonable doubt that depriving us of that right is necessary because we are imminently harming the life, liberty or property of another person.
Henry contended to Fox 17 that Whitmer has acted “unlawfully” and that “people absolutely should not be complying with” her orders.

“They’re never going to give us our rights back, and if we won’t fight for them, who will?” Meshawn Maddock, cochair of the Michigan Conservative Coalition, told Breitbart News.

“Whitmer killed hundreds of grandparents who couldn’t fight back; we won’t go as quietly,” she added, referring to the revelation than 34 percent of Michigan coronavirus deaths were in nursing homes after Whitmer mandated patients recover in those facilities.

The worst part is she believes this. There's a $3.2 billion hole in the budget and her response plan is to strongarm the legislature into helping her beg the Feds for money. It's amazing how she'll grab power like a fat man grabs cake, but when something goes wrong, she starts screaming for "partners".

Tests show that positions of leadership attract sociopaths at 3 times the rate of the background populous..................on top of that for most women the climb up the ladder in a career such as law/politics often sees a women to overplay her power hand as an attempt to gain respect of her male peers.................add both together and you can get a dangerous woman making decisions.........Hillary comes to mind as the prototype to me in this century but this woman is following in her footsteps..

I guess she won't realize how much fun it would have been to stay home and bake cookies for everyone until its too late in her life............

The Patriot Rally at the state capital is going on right now. Many are open carrying long boom sticks.
Lots of hunters and such here!

The witch has extended her plandemic orders until July 15/16. There is also a recall petition circulating...We, the People have had enough of this garbage.

Hopefully, Sleepy Joe will make his choice of running mate soon, so that "she" will stop trying to show everyone what a good Socialist she is and how we are all cowering in our homes b/c of "da-virus" (NOT) waiting for her to save us from ourselves.

Many of us who live here are living our lives in spite of her and our idiotic state leaders.

Well, to her credit, pretty much every restriction is down so far and she seems to be matching up with Indiana, who's a bit farther along than we are.

Still, don't forget there are also several lawsuits outstanding along with that recall petition.

The recall petition starts July 1. My guess is if she's going to pull a stunt it'd go right there.

Petition to recall Gov. Whitmer set to begin July 1 after panel approves language
Posted By Steve Neavling on Tue, Jun 9, 2020 at 11:17 AM

A petition to recall Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to begin circulating on July 1 after the bipartisan Board of Canvassers approved the language on Monday.

The petition organizer, Albion resident Chad Baase, 39, must collect more than 1 million signatures from registered voters within 60 days of launching it to get the recall question on the statewide ballot.

The recall is based on Whitmer’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, which resulted in nearly 6,000 deaths and 65,000 confirmed infections in Michigan.

The recall language cites nine of the 112 executive orders that Whitmer has issued in response to COVID-19. They include the stay-at-home order, which banned nonessential travel and activities and forced the closure of many businesses beginning March 24. Other orders include limiting nonessential dental and medical procedures, stopping veterinary services, and limiting nonessential dental and medical procedures.

Baase told reporters that the primary motivation behind the petition was the executive orders’ impact on businesses and employees, many of whom were laid off and struggled to get relief because the state’s unemployment system was ill-equipped to handle the unprecedented demand.

“You can’t take away someone’s income and say you’re eligible for pandemic unemployment but then you can’t speak with anyone. I’m still waiting on my unemployment” Baase told MLive. They owe me 10 weeks.”

Michigan’s stay-at-home order lasted longer than most states'.

Whitmer’s campaign team dismissed the recall as “another baseless partisan attack” and said the Board of Canvassers' decision likely will be appealed because the board failed “to apply the correct standard of review to the petition,” said Christopher Mills, a senior adviser to governor’s campaign.

"Michiganders know that the vast majority support the governor’s swift and aggressive action in the fight against COVID-19," Mills said. "The governor plans to fight this recall aggressively while staying focused on protecting Michigan families from the spread of COVID-19."

Polls have shown that most Michigan residents generally support Whitmer’s handling of the pandemic.
