Adopted by Humans I - VIII

Imagine you are an exchange student on Earth in the 26th century. Now imagine you're from a different planet and are an alien species that strongly resembles dogs.

You learn about the best and the worst of humanity, and about what it means to have family, by living with humans.
This is a great series of eight books and five short stories from a new author and well worth reading. There is rich character development, depth of story and plot, and contemplation of what our future could be.

I definitely recommend it!

From the author, Robert Butler:

"Humans are the only known intelligent species to actively create 'Found Families' in the form of parents, children, siblings, and more.
If a human starts spending more time with you and initiating physical contact, they have probably adopted you."

These were the words that caught my ears when attending the most prestigious university in my quadrant as a minor in alien studies.

My intrigue led me to major in the study of humans, a new race to emerge into the galactic political scene, and one that had already in a mere fifty years, captured the imaginations of numerous races.

So when the chance came to go to Earth to study them up close, to live with a human host family known to our professor, I took it.

Inside the pages of these journals, you will find the record of my observations and experiences with human beings.

More than that, you will find how what began as a curiosity that would make for an easy career in a narrow field, changed my life forever, in all the very best of ways.

That's what happens I suppose, when you're adopted by humans.

Regarding the second book, which is free for the next five days:

Free for the next five days, volume 2, in which my most popular character was introduced, Captain Bonny Red, former fleet officer, turned pirate extraordinaire. To describe her in one word, I would say 'Panache'. She has flare, style, presence and raw charisma, while also being dangerous as f**k.

A character so popular that fans demanded side stories exploring who she is, wherein you learn of the actions of her crew of misfits as they travel the galaxy trying to keep the ship's bar stocked.

There are 8 books and a series of five (so far) short stories. Sometimes it's lighthearted, but other times it gets quite dark.

I'm just finishing up the fourth book.

The author's next short story will be based on some suggestions I made.

The story reminds me of the feel of "The Lord of the Rings".; it begins light-heartedly, but then gets dark.

He has numerous other stories that are more Hobbit/GOT feel as well as some animes.

In my opinion, he's very talented.

I'm addicted. I'm on book 7.
It is addicting, though.

I look forward to his other series, and the anime. Apparently he's in the process of getting that animated!

How long have you been reading it? I'm on a month. I ordered the paperbacks.

I think he could be as prolific Stephen King.

Two weeks? I am an avid reader. And I fragged my leg and back on Friday, so I had extra reading time.

It does, in some ways, remind me of the different humans in space stories on Tumblr. I love it.
