I know! It's amazing to me that people take that social security and federal/state retirement from that nasty government! And how can they drive on those roads paved by that nasty government? Don't they know that the Feds could put cancer causing material in that asphalt? And don't get me started on that blood pressure medicine and antibiotics that were approved by that nasty government! Don't people know that the nasty government probably pressured the drug companies to include "whatever" in those drugs?

After all, wouldn't it make sense for "them" to contaminate those drugs (the ones the "useless eaters") take?

And the prenatal vitamins........ Oh, the horror................
ah, the money we've paid in working all our lives on the social contract that it will be doled back out after retirement.... that money. Those roads our taxes paid for, yes those roads, which were paved by private contractors which were contracted by the govt., which were ALL paid for from yes, our taxes. GOVT does not produce shit, they redistribute, they take from some and give to others, and usually after squeezing their own graft out of it first.
And the cabal of the medical establishment and the govt is responsible for jacking med cost up to 20% or more of GDP. I don't know about BP meds or antibiotics, but I've read lots of bad stuff about statins, I've read and understand that the (govt+med industry) food pyramid is upside down. I do certainly recognize that the govt+medical establishment are 10000% responsible for implementing the CV scam.

By the way, the J&J vaccine uses genetically coded DNA carried by the AdenoVirus to make mRNA that in turn makes the Covid Spikes that trigger the immune response and learning.
mRNA is ultimately used in both cases.
The Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J all use your own body's cellular machinery to produce the covid spikes. The J&J just uses an extra step to use DNA to make the mRNA. DNA is more stable the mRNA. That's why it doesn't have to be kept so cold to prevent damage. Anyway all 3 are good vaccines and are likely to become the standard for producing new vaccines in the future.
Good luck Dennis. Each person makes that decision for themselves.
Is your arm sore yet?
When J*J experimental vax was first brought out, I saw much the same info and read much the same. It's just a different road to get to the same results - screwing with you genes. Just that they describe it in an 'safer more friendly way' thanks to some high powered ad/marketing agencies.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, what he meant was that if you have a choice between a conventional and tested type of technology or an experimental one, both of which have some side effects but those side effects are either about the same or LOWER than with the experimental vaccines, it usually be medically more appropriate to use the TESTED and older technology over the new one.

If anything, there seems to be a push, at least in Europe; to try to limit the use of the older technology because 30 people out of something like 30 million had a blood clot issue (and yes a few died) leaving only the much more expensive and experimental mRNA vaccines which are known to cause all sorts of issues, including severe and potentially fatal allergic reactions.
Ahh... understood, thanks...

Which also makes me wonder if it might not be a good move, tactically, to get the J&J vaccine. It throws a monkeywrench into Deep State plans to shoot you full of Moderna and Pfizer's murder juice, and might even be protective. After all, right now, you've got the choice. If you wait a few months, you might suddenly not.
Seriously do you know anything about how DNA and RNA work?
They are both nucleic acids and they both use mRNA to produce the spikes that evoke your body's immune system to produce antibodies.

All three vaccines, Pfizer, Moderna and J&J use your body's cellular machinery and mRNA to produce the Covid spikes that trigger your body to make antibodies.
All the "conventional vaccines" inject dead or weakened virus or virus proteins into your body directly and your body reacts to them and produces antibodies.

Oh and by the way, all 3 of the vaccines, the DNA and or RNA only last a day or two before it is destroyed by your body after it has done it's job to produce the spikes.

The main advantage of J&J is that it only requires one dose.
Also the J&J is cheaper, about $10 a dose and the gov paid J&J a billion dollars for 100 million doses.
Most mass vaccination centers are switching to the J&J because of the rush to get everyone vaccinated before the variants keep multiplying. Plus one dose and done is a lot less hassle. Each shot is one person fully vaccinated. Here in Orlando the main vaccine site has announced the switch to J&J.

Seriously, people, get yourselves a college biology text book and read the chapters about DNA and RNA, and how it all works.
People here are generally very knowledgeable about firearms and the difference between clips and mags and cartridge cases and bullets and primers and all things related, yet woefully ignorant about basic biology that keeps us living from day to day.

I am totally in agreement with that assessment. Thankfully, as the local chapter president of INTJs of America, I analyzed the pros and cons for myself. I have a MARKED propensity for getting respiratory illnesses. That’s been true all my life. That’s why I took the pneumonia vax 15 years ago and the booster last year. The primary symptom of Covid is respiratory impairment. I can add 2+2, KWIM?
I signed up for the VA's J&J vax. The VA is vaxing spouses, too. So, I got my wife at the same time slot. They are making it super easy and convenient for us. it is hard to find the J&J shot out there, though. Not as many places as Pfizer. My wife is one that gets bronchitis every so often. When something roots in her chest it's rough and lasts forever. I wanted to make sure at least covid wouldn't get to that point...a hope anyway. Covid is still out there. Is it as dangerous as we are told? Not to most...but people who have compromised health it can be life threatening. My sister just passed away from covid a couple of months ago. She had cancer and beaten it. Her immune system was shot to heck as it was. She missed the shot by maybe 2 months. It rooted in her chest and killed her.

I wish the best for all my friends who have made the individual choice to get the vaccine, both here and in the meat-world. I think all of us here support their individual right to choose. It may end up being a great move (like watermelons engineered to grow without seeds), or it may end up being the next asbestos (Why wouldn’t everyone wrap their pipes with this new technology?).

In any case, the true danger is in the mandating of masks, lockdowns, and vaccines. Eventually those holding the minority opinion will be coerced, threatened and bullied into compliance. They will, in effect, lose their personal freedom to choose. This government overreach is a great evil that we should all stand against regardless of whether or not we get vaccinated.

bottom line as I see it -
  • CORONA VIRUS mutates very rapidly - there has never been a TRULY effective vax for the common cold or flu
  • the COVID has an incredibly high resolution rate - why would I take an UNPROVEN UNTESTED vax into an otherwise healthy system?
  • there is truth regarding the dangers of certain preexisting "co morbidities" - so is there truth in this statement there are many (NOT all) who can mitigate a good deal of those with wise choices, personal responsibility, life style changes and effort
  • IF they would have simply "let it be" we'd have been through this bullshit last year - but there is no money to be made no fear to spread and no control to wrested from the herd
  • take the vax if you so chose - it does not become my business UNLESS and UNTIL you choose to force me into your imagined safety zone.
  • there is a real TRUE GLOBAL PANDEMIC we should be worried about - its name is TUBERCULOSIS
from 10.24.20 - the facts have not changed:

NOBODY with any common sense says that corona virus "doesn't exist" . . . just as NOBODY with any common sense says that corona virus "hasn't been over hyped". want to see a REAL pandemic? look here: A Global Threat . . . from page one:

"Tuberculosis (TB) is a global disease, found in every country in the world. It is the leading infectious cause of death worldwide. The World Health Organization estimates that 1.8 billion people—close to one quarter of the world's population—are infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb), the bacteria that causes TB. Last year, 10 million fell ill from TB and 1.4 million died."

where's our lock downs? where's our financial incentive to make that the primary cause of death? wheres our drive through testing centers and school closings? why aren't we given daily TB death counts - reminiscent of what we subjected to during Vietnam - and like we are forced to endure for the covid?

there will NEVER BE a vaccine for this - just as there has never been an effective vaccine for the common cold or ANY variety of the flu. the reasons have been widely discussed and are well understood.

lest my intent be misunderstood or my words twisted:
  • corona virus is real
  • covid is overhyped
  • that financial incentives exist are well known but unreported/unacknowledged
  • there will never be an effective vaccine for ANY corona virus due to speed of mutation
  • the "scam" is rooted in gaining CONTROL . . . manipulation of elections; forced vaccination; dehumanization of the individual preparatory to the coming of CWII; ultimately financial control and global dominance
ever hear this before?

At this time I have chosen to do nothing. Cases in our county and most of the counties in the state are so low I can’t really justify it.

I can’t justify because I firmly believe there will be another variant of the thing in late summer/fall. (My mulling, no proof.)

I also believe this will be a yearly event and if I can avoid one, maybe it will be better next time. But alas, just a hunch. I don’t remember the last time they got the flu variants correct.

To me, this is truly a shot in the dark.

We have a well that was covered year’s ago in the front yard. I need to ask the person who is in the know about this place why it was capped and when it was done. The “old house” was out there closer to the well. My guess is that when current place was built they didn’t want to haul water bc it’s quite a way from newer house.

Only problem I have is that it’s really close to the road. That should not make much difference if it’s viable in the first place.

Grew up drinking well water. And like grass fed beef, etc., much prefer it.

God has a plan, Trust it!
Dennis, give us the minute to minute detaills, and I was actually going start another thread about being alone without somebody calling for help. As an older person it totally sucks, your pets, whom depend on you, your family whom may check in occasionally... My nightmare, the one that keeps up every night, is my wife. She had a Left brain Stroke, she can’t talk, and do not get me wrong she knows everything that is going on. She does not have the ability to express herself to the authorities.

She is unable to call 911, that’s why I moved to an apartment, hopefully she will go out and scream No!!!! Because when she needs anything my name is No. I have said this before on previous threads, my name is Steve. And like you Dennis, I am scared what if something happens to you and me, is there something we can do..

Dawg, if your wife has speech problems, you know you can call the non emergency line at the police department and have them make a notation on the record, so that should a non verbal open line call come in to 911, they will know that it most likely isn't a prank, or a kid, but a non verbal person needing help.

You can call the non emergency line to have all sorts of things added to your file to help law enforcement and emergency response with calls.

My husband and I both stream for a living and a number of the ensemble that we stream with across the world have been "swatted" before by viewers who hacked information or were able to get personal info from people who didn't pay much attention. Hubby and I made sure we talked to the Captain of the PD and explained the situation (which she understood as a possibility) and added the information to the file so that if a call like domestic abuse or bomb scare comes in, they have the BG info to know it is likely a hoax and not come in with guns drawn or SWAT team tactics. We have a plan in place if the situation arises.

Also, there are phones out there with HUGE buttons that are pre programmed for 911/EMS/Police that she can just push the speed dial button if she needs to. They even have them were you can put pictures of people on them, so she can recognize the face of the person to call.

Disagree. See my post 124
Here is a complete explanation of how the J&J vaccine works.
Once more, DNA makes RNA. The RNA makes proteins that do a thousand different things. It's a one way street. The mRNA from Pfizer and Moderna don't interact with your DNA. They can't because they never enter the nucleus.
Your DNA is entirely in the cell nucleus. Where does the J&J send it's DNA? Into your cell nucleus, where it makes an RNA strand that goes out into your cell cytoplasm and makes the Covid spike proteins. The spike proteins are actually made by 3 linked together protein molecules.
Pfizer and Moderna don't send anything into your cell nucleus. J&J does.
A basic knowledge of college biology makes all this easy to understand.
You and several others got your vaccine without really understanding how it works.
Fortunately all three are good vaccines and will offer you the protection you want. As you said earlier, the main advantage of J&J is that it's one and done. That is why many government vaccine centers are switching to it. More people fully vaccinated twice as fast as with Pfizer or Moderna that require two doses.
It's also about half the price.

How the Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Works
By Jonathan Corum and Carl ZimmerUpdated March 22, 2021
Leer en español

Johnson & Johnson is testing a coronavirus vaccine known as JNJ-78436735 or Ad26.COV2.S. Clinical trials showed that a single dose of the vaccine had an efficacy rate of 72 percent in the United States, and a lower efficacy in countries where more contagious variants are widespread. The vaccine has been authorized for emergency use by the European Union, the United States and other countries.
Janssen Pharmaceutica, a Belgium-based division of Johnson & Johnson, is developing the vaccine in collaboration with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
A Piece of the Coronavirus
The SARS-CoV-2 virus is studded with proteins that it uses to enter human cells. These so-called spike proteins make a tempting target for potential vaccines and treatments.

CORONAVIRUS
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is based on the virus’s genetic instructions for building the spike protein. But unlike the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, which store the instructions in single-stranded RNA, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine uses double-stranded DNA.
DNA Inside an Adenovirus
The researchers added the gene for the coronavirus spike protein to another virus called Adenovirus 26. Adenoviruses are common viruses that typically cause colds or flu-like symptoms. The Johnson & Johnson team used a modified adenovirus that can enter cells but can’t replicate inside them or cause illness.

3-vaccine-jnj-450.png

DNA inside
an adenovirus
Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine comes out of decades of research on adenovirus-based vaccines. In July, the first one was approved for general use — a vaccine for Ebola, also made by Johnson & Johnson. The company is also running trials on adenovirus-based vaccines for other diseases, including H.I.V. and Zika. Some other coronavirus vaccines are also based on adenoviruses, such as the one developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca using a chimpanzee adenovirus.
Adenovirus-based vaccines for Covid-19 are more rugged than mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. DNA is not as fragile as RNA, and the adenovirus’s tough protein coat helps protect the genetic material inside. As a result, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine can be refrigerated for up to three months at 36–46°F (2–8°C).
Entering a Cell
After the vaccine is injected into a person’s arm, the adenoviruses bump into cells and latch onto proteins on their surface. The cell engulfs the virus in a bubble and pulls it inside. Once inside, the adenovirus escapes from the bubble and travels to the nucleus, the chamber where the cell’s DNA is stored.

NUCLEUS
The adenovirus pushes its DNA into the nucleus. The adenovirus is engineered so it can’t make copies of itself, but the gene for the coronavirus spike protein can be read by the cell and copied into a molecule called messenger RNA, or mRNA.
Building Spike Proteins
The mRNA leaves the nucleus, and the cell’s molecules read its sequence and begin assembling spike proteins.

spikes
Some of the spike proteins produced by the cell form spikes that migrate to its surface and stick out their tips. The vaccinated cells also break up some of the proteins into fragments, which they present on their surface. These protruding spikes and spike protein fragments can then be recognized by the immune system.
The adenovirus also provokes the immune system by switching on the cell’s alarm systems. The cell sends out warning signals to activate immune cells nearby. By raising this alarm, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine causes the immune system to react more strongly to the spike proteins.
Spotting the Intruder
When a vaccinated cell dies, the debris contains spike proteins and protein fragments that can then be taken up by a type of immune cell called an antigen-presenting cell.

Making Antibodies
Other immune cells, called B cells, may bump into the coronavirus spikes on the surface of vaccinated cells, or free-floating spike protein fragments. A few of the B cells may be able to lock onto the spike proteins. If these B cells are then activated by helper T cells, they will start to proliferate and pour out antibodies that target the spike protein.

Remembering the Virus
Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine is given as a single dose, unlike the two-dose coronavirus vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca.

Single dose
Researchers don’t yet know how long the vaccine’s protection might last. It’s possible that the number of antibodies and killer T cells will drop in the months after vaccination. But the immune system also contains special cells called memory B cells and memory T cells that might retain information about the coronavirus for years or even decades.
Vaccine Timeline
January, 2020 Johnson & Johnson begins work on a coronavirus vaccine.
March Johnson & Johnson receives $456 million from the United States government to help develop and produce the vaccine.
July A Phase 1/2 trial begins. Unlike the clinical trials for other leading vaccines, the trial involves one dose, not two.
johnson-syringe-600.jpg

August The federal government agrees to pay Johnson & Johnson $1 billion for 100 million doses, if the vaccine is approved.
September Johnson & Johnson launches a Phase 3 trial.
Oct. 8 The European Union reaches a deal to obtain 200 million doses.
Oct. 12 The company pauses its Phase 3 trial to investigate an adverse reaction in a volunteer.
Oct. 23 The trial resumes.
Nov. 16 Johnson & Johnson announces a second Phase 3 trial to observe the effects of two doses of their vaccine, instead of just one.
Dec. 17 Johnson & Johnson announces its Phase 3 trial is fully enrolled, with around 45,000 participants.
January, 2021 Preliminary results from the Phase 3 trial are expected in January. The company is aiming to produce at least a billion doses this year.
Jan. 13 Johnson & Johnson expects to release trial results in as little as two weeks. But the company is falling behind on its original production schedule.
Feb. 24 The vaccine had a 72 percent overall efficacy rate in the United States and 64 percent in South Africa, where a highly contagious variant called B.1.351 emerged in the fall and is now driving most cases. The vaccine also showed efficacy against severe forms of Covid-19.
Feb. 27 The Food and Drug Administration authorizes the vaccine for emergency use.
March 2 Merck will help manufacture the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Merk or another company that is helping make the J&J is who screwed up more than 10million doses. The government told J&J to go take over the production at that facility.

My son works seeing patients at the VA hospital just east of Orlando.
All the staff has been vaccinated and they do offer free vaccinations to all their patients.
The VA staff got the Pfizer vaccine because that was the main one available early on.
All the large centers are switching to the J&J because it's one and done and it's half the price of Pfizer.
They don't have to go through all the logistics of getting people back on time for their 2nd shot.

My son says the service at the VA Hospital is better than other hospitals and clinics where he has worked.
Also vaccinating the spouse makes a lot of sense. Not much use protecting half the houshold.
Anyway, good luck to you and your wife. We live in a 70 house small subdivision. So far no one has had any complications from the shots except a sore arm and possible fever for a day. That's after about a third the people in our sub division have been vaccinated.
So Good Luck

TerryK's understanding of how and where the DNA and/or RNA goes and does mirrors mine.

Just some random thoughts:

I haven't gotten any vax. I'm not sure I will, I'm taking lots of vitamin D, I'm prophylactically using hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin and bromehexine, along with supplments that include vitamin C, Zinc, magnesium and others.

(I am concerned that using ivermectin chronically is a new application - typically it's given in a few doses, until the parasites it normally treats are gone. However, lots of people around the wolrd are using it prophylactically now.)

It's known that there is pre-existing immunity is some/many people. There are 4 "non-novel" human coronaviruses that have been circulating for a long time. They are one of many things that cause the "common cold". I *never* get colds. Does that mean anything? Maybe.

Balanced against that, I am >65 yo, type 2 diabetes, hypertension.

I actually like the idea that there is no virus of any sort in the mRNA vaxes.

The J&J virus vector vaccine is relatevely new, though still older than the the Pfizer and Moderna. The mRNA vaxes seem to have better efficacy numbers, even in just the US. But the J&J testing was (I think) more recent and may have had to deal with more variants.

Inertia is a big thing with me - taking a wait and see attitude seems reasonable and also comes naturally.

Also, I'm suspicious. I've never seen a push for a vaccine, with discussion of vaccine passports!, for any vaccine, leave alone one for a disease that has such a high survival rate for almost everybody.

I *do* want to thank all those who are participating in the "Phase 3a" studies. :D

I actually enjoyed my time there. I sharpened my cold weather/extreme isolation skills and tested preps for same. (Found that sawing, chopping, and splitting wood for hours on end combined with walking >5 miles daily to be considerably better conditioning than any amount of just walking or running.) Made me seriously consider either reloing to, or hiking across, AK. (Chose fatherhood instead, as you know.) That said, well, it was an insurance thing, as you noted. It did little harm, as the place I'd been working reloed to NY State (of all places) in Nov. 1999. I don’t care. It was a useless move considering the reason you went. You also left your family with me when you bailed. Glass houses, stones, etc.

You have no moral high ground from which to pontificate ANYTHING.

Methinks you forget what I went through the past 7 years for the sake of my children having an intact household, but reasonable people can disagree on that one.
P.S. you had an open invite to come stay at our BOL if SRHTF in your AO.

I don’t care. You were talking about useless activities on my part. I responded in kind. You really want to have this argument Lucas?

Goodness before greatness.
It is more likely the start of a urinary tract infection from driving that far in a short period of time, especially if it was relatively warm in the car.

Don't ignore this, at least call in or drop by one of those urgent care clinics because this can go from very mild and easy to treat to rather serious in a few days, especially in those of us who are older.

While these can be sexually transmitted, the majority are just caused by natural issues such as heat, hydration, or even another medical condition that lowers the immunity a bit (or spikes it which the shot may have done).

It has absolutely nothing to do with how many tats a patient or their partner has, and is often transmitted between totally monogamous husbands and wives (when it is transmitted sexually, which is usually AFTER one partner already has it for other reasons).

There’s an Washoe herb for UTI’s...

Wait for it...

You know that one in the ALT threads that well...
