OK, first I should state that I don't want to step on Shane's business here. If at all possable, a coated tablet is the way to go to take KI.

KI is caustic and has a painfully bad taste.

That said, there are a couple of reasons you might want to get ahold of the raw chemical as a backup.

1) The coated tablets are too expensive
2) You want to prep for being able to take care of a mass number of people.
3) The pure chemical has a better shelf life than the tablets.
4) As a backup.

KI is available from chem supply companies and the reagent grade is going to be as pure if not more so than the pill grade. Elemental Scientific lists it: 1oz: $2.49, 4oz: $8.50, 16oz: $30.00 Other places like NASCO might be less expensive.

Instructions about mixing it up and taking it this way can be found in chapter 13 of NWSS:

http://www.oism.org/nwss/s73p924.htm

Information and additional warnings about taking the tablets are here too.

But once again, I would really recomend the coated tablets - KI is ICKY!, otoh: if the enteric coating melts or cracks, the tablets loose all of their advantage over solution. Get both is possable, and consider the tabs as a first line method. Your mouth will thank you!

Has No Life - Lives on TB

No problem, tangent, as I've already been doing it myself, literally for years. Most recently here in post #21 and #33 of this thread where I say;

"For any who did not get any KI tablets in-time, or need more for themselves or others, there are viable alternatives besides the tablets. See our Plan "B" page here...
http://www.ki4u.com/plan_b.htm "

We've long known that there will never be enough tablets to go around when the need arose, and for large groups trying to prep today with limited funding or for local governments responding during an emergency, they all needed alternatives for mass dosing, too, besides tablets.

BTW, while the NWSS info is a fine primer regarding the need for KI, the children dosage recommendations there are outdated and incorrect. We've also expanded the options and alternatives for DIY KI beyond just the saturated solution presented there, too.

At http://www.ki4u.com/plan_b.htm and the sections it also points to over at www.ki4u.com, besides saturated solutions, there are also more accurate dosing formulas available via unsaturated solutions. Also, we show even topically applied options, too, utilizing even more readily available commercial iodine solutions found at everyone's local pharmacy.

Thanks shane, ordered 10 bottles.

A few months ago hub read Streiber's book "Warday" cover to cover. He didn't even blink when I said I just spent 50 bucks on KI pills for charity

actually, it's only 3-4 drops, wrapped in bread or dilluted in something else like milk are the recomended ways.

Shane, you thinking about doing another TB2K buy? Along with a nukAlert? Just curious, else I'll just buy from your site. Thanks.

I just purchased "The Package" in addition to a M8 Military Chem Detector from KI4U.com. That alone is a deal in itself. With new AQ threats it's ever more important to be prepared in all areas.
