I just turned on Fox and General McKenzie is apologizing for drone strike in Afghanistan. Said it was "Wrong" and a "terrible mistake ".We killed no Isis-K and killed 10 civilians.

First the State Dept. lets them tell us what we can and can't do to get Americans out. Now the military ?!

So since this strike wasn't ISIS, have we made anyone pay for the 13 soldiers killed? They were crowing this strike was the payback, weren't they? I thought Biden promised they would get justice served.

Would *I* Lie???
Thread title is a lie.

Apologizing to afghan/ family that they killed an innocent. Not groveling to enemies. not even close.

true, in most instances war is hell and collateral damage was, well, standing to close to a target. But in this instance we INSISTED FOR WEEKS we killed a terrorist and "why was whomever he was travelling with travelling with him?" (basically blaming the dead children, who we probably knew by then was NOT travelling with a terrorist..)

I feel like this is something the .mil wouldn't do on it's own and was probably required by the mud for brains C&C to discredit, dishonor, besmirch, soil and degrade morale and effectiveness in the military. its working.

Was the equivalent, then, of Clinton bombing a few camels for show?

If so, it's a much more tragic instance. And I bet nobody will actually "pay". Either on our end for the fatal mistake, or on their end after Joe struck his pose and vowed to get 'em back.

I was wondering how they identified that target so quickly. Now I have my answer: they didn't.

Biden and his damn politics....

A drone spotted somebody loading large containers into a car and thought "Loading explosives for a car bomb!" and ordered a drone strike on a guy who was loading water containers into his car to take to family/friends who didn't have running water.

That was posted on a mil forum yesterday, so somebody was able to talk to people on the ground at the scene who knew the story. Sounds like a "Cop shoots man holding cell phone thinking it was a gun" story scaled up to car bombs and drone strikes.

I am not former military but knowing how sh*t rolls downhill, I think probably demands were placed at every level of decision making until a drone pilot dropped a bomb on a target that was available and expedient. It was a hasty decision made under stress and under the gun for political reasons versus a measured effective response. I'm sure the Russians could have figured out something to scare the bejeezus out of ISIS-K and delivered in a timely manner.
