TR2 9909. TR stood for Trinity. So you would tell people your number was Trinity 2- 9909.
So as now, you would look for the corresponding number for t and r.

I was about 6 or 7 in the late 50's growing up in Anaheim, CA when I memorized our phone number, PR2-0557 (PR = Prospect exchange). When we moved to Northridge in the SF Valley in 1962 we got a 7-digit phone number.
