If you are aware of copperheads in the area keep in mind that they might be a bit more active when the cicada activity starts up. They love cicadas.

I was always told to check their wings to see if there would be war or peace for that cycle...n they do show a W or a P on their wings...as for the accuracy of the W or P... don't remember what they showed before ... unfortunately...

I live across the road from a very large swamp (thousand of acres) and the cicadas in the swamp are getting pretty loud


I remember the last time they came out --it had to be a record eruption ==the noise was terrible and a couple of people that live out this way called 911 and reported that here was a UFO down in the swamp

Just FYI, there are cicada broods every year; it's just that some broods are bigger and therefore more noteworthy.

Sounds like the swamp cicada, the only eastern cicada that lives in/around such habitat.

I found 14 empty cicada shells in my backyard today. I hope it means nothing.

Our favorite turtles. Often catch them and put a couple in my garden. They also eat the lower hanging tomatoes and alike. Love them for eating the bigger bugs as well. We have tons of scorpions around, hope they eat them too.

I have tinnitus 24x7. It is generally consistent but sometimes ebss and flows like a real swarm.
