Folks... this may seem a little silly, but I've found that people *really* enjoy and appreciate fancy pillowcases for a gift...

Last year, I made them for my young grandsons... using minky fabric for the body and printed fleece (found "licensend" prints in a remnant bin very inexpensively) for the band. Oldest grandson has "texture" issues... I suspect he's probably on the Aspbergers' spectrum... and he LOVES the warm, snuggly pillowcase.
For adults, poly satin is popular... it can make for "slippery" problems with the pillow falling off the bed, but leads to much less "bedhead" hair issues! For *real* luxury, and especially for women around that time of life where night sweats can be a problem, silk- either charmeuse or satin- can be wonderful.
They go together fast...
