NEW: Four people miraculously survive a helicopter crash on Honopu Beach in Hawaii.

The pilot was flying around the island when the engine suddenly went out.

As the helicopter was falling out of the sky, the pilot appeared to autorotate the helicopter, a recovery manuver where rotor blades are driven by the upward flow of air through the rotor.

At the last second, the pilot swung the plane and crash landed on the beach.

All four people survived. I am told that one person was injured with fractured vertebrae.

When I was in Hawaii for my honeymoon we took a couple whirly bird rides.

One guy didn't look like he was old enough to have a driver's license.

Other guy was a ex army pilot, he threw that thing around quite a bit. Dropping down the Manawaiopuna Falls. (The opening scene in the original Jurassic Park movie)

My flying days are over also - and I love to fly - smaller the plane, the better!

I used to do a fair amount o' it myself, almost got talked into getting my own license once upon a time...
..then I rolled up on a fresh mustang 51 crash, no survivors, and since, I've been known to get a lil frayed o' nerves just hearing the crop dusters above me.

"Went out?" From the video it seems like it fell out, given the violence of the jolt and the noise of what happened. And it sounded like they were in a Robinson to start with.

Any landing you live thru in a Robinson is a good landing, because those things crash land as often as they have safe landings.

Kind of the way I feel. I can't see what the guy up front is doing and I don't trust them any more. Too many stories.
