As of Sunday afternoon, I now have 5 new little Sapphire Gem chicks ( will be hens eventually). This is a new breed to me and oh so cute.

Yesterday I got seeds started on a heat mat under lights - tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, tomatillo,

While I do have some long term food stored I mostly have a deep pantry and shop each week not for food to eat that week but to replace that which was recently eaten.

I hope you all are also doing whatever you can to keep moving forward (and calm).

On another note - the gas prices had gone up 14 cents this morning. As we passed station after station the prices were up. Not just a penny or two. Fourteen cents.

We'll get through this. This too, will pass.

It's what I tell myself.

I like it!! I will continue to pray and lead a self sufficient life to the greatest extent that I am able.

I will let positive thoughts and things shine through my life and have joy. I will rebuke evil and negativity. I will focus on the good things of life!!!!!:)

I played with my 2 little granddaughters and rocked the youngest to sleep. Finally my stomach quitting hurting. I only had this happen to my stomach once before, when my husband died and it stayed like this off and on for a year before I finally relaxed and it was about the time my first granddaughter was born. I played with kids today, helped my daughter go through sacks of baby clothes to see what will fit the youngest. I looked out the window and thought about what to plant and of all the work I need to do around here. I did not and will not listen to the good bye speech of the president. I need no sadness in my life. I have my family to take care of. My plan is to get through this in better health and be better prepared.

I walked to the chicken pen to hear the first crows of a Sussex that I thought was a hen! They about 16 weeks old so it makes sense that he was ready for me to stop calling him a girl. I too have some of those blue sapphires that should be laying any day. So much fun to watch! Plan to prune the peach and apple trees tomorrow. Life goes on!

Planted lettuce and onions, garlic, kale...thinking about cabbage. Baking up a storm...I love to bake, and putting excess in freezer for later when I don't feel like baking but still want a sweet treat. Got the last of the kittens fixed today so no more "surprises". Personally I'm tending to my home and family right now. Doing domestic chores keeps me grounded and relaxes me. After all, keeping one eye on what is going on around you is a good thing, but trust me, your Uncle Sam is not going to come and fold your laundry for you!

I want to thank you all for the interaction and invite the rest of the gang to jump in. This is in the vein of thread that drew me in when I was in my lurking years.

Lots of great stuff out there making me smile....and it seems you too.

Now how about Dennis tells us about a new bread recipe he mastered?

Great thread!

While I do not advocate sticking one's "head in the sand" - I must after-all frequently scan the news here - seeing a reminder to "keep the faith" and keep taking positive action is most welcome.

Things are so crazy right now, it is easy sit and stare in disbelief. Working my "to-do" list seems SO much more productive! :apc:

Moved out to my cabin, making list of what needs to be finished. Had the 2nd meeting of our Homeschool Hikers group, Genesis One. Taught first aid on the trail. 17 children showed up and 9 adults.
Awana is tomorrow. Keep on keeping on. Hoping to be an instrument of truth in these troubled days.
Tending my animals and regular stuff. Helping with the homeschooling.
I don't watch tv of any kind. Get my news here and YT for learning. Watched a bunch of vids today on cooking on the trail. So very thankful my grandsons are here and their parents. Pretty sure daughters closing was today. Thank God.

I am watching four of the grandchildren tomorrow. I think their parents need a bit of time to themselves. They always make me laugh.

Nope I identified him as a hen. Now that he was of age you was just letting me know differently!
Well...when at the vet today to get my Leo fixed I was politely informed...by the way, Leo is a girl. Surprise! I asked my son about changing Leo to Leah. Yeah...no...not going to happen. Maybe I should have checked under the hood a bit better? Lifted the skirts a bit higher:shkr:

Dm19cm, when my cat found me and decided I was his human, I thought he was a girl and when I took him to the vet for "the works", they told me he was a boy and already neutered.. I'd already named him Millie, so I just decided that worked as well for Milton as it did for Mildred. Another cat has recently decided my place is a good place to settle, so it's name is Rusty and it won't matter what kind of plumbing it was born with. It'll be a while before I find out since he's still too skittish to even pet, let alone try to examine.

:lkick: . I have 2 cats, but only one is really mine. Tito is my guy, but the neighbor that has a pack of largish unruly dogs has a huge black panther that weighs about 20 lbs. He likes my house better, no dogs. He usually sleeps here too. Tito beats him up cause this is HIS house. He never fights back.

I'm getting back into homing/racing pigeons and spent the day planning a loft set up. I've built two, modified versions, of these lofts in the past and they worked wonderfully. Easy and economical. This time I'll split it into two sections and add an aviary on each end, so I can separate the sexes and have more control over the breeding. Can't wait. I miss seeing my birds soaring up and circling the valley.

Plans, for anyone interested:

I think I will stay offline tomorrow. I have things to do, and waiting minute by minute to learn what has happened to my beloved country... I'll just deal with that on thursday.
