Fibers Fleeces

Melodi

Disaster Cat
I'd love to get one, but I'm afraid customs would grab an unwashed fleece. That happened a couple of decades ago when a friend's dad went on assignment in Peru and tried to bring back several alpaca fleeces for me. We have so much alpaca in Ireland that the local spinning guilds use more than wool because Irish sheep are mostly meat sheep, and the fleeces are OK but not great for spinning. If you ever start washing some of your fleece (some mills will do that), I will be delighted to order some!

Broken Arrow

Heathen Pagan Witch
More info BA? I haven't worked a lot with wool, but would appreciate any info to help me make the leap.
Staple length runs 3-4" long. Micron counts are between 16-20. Merino's are pretty greasy fleeces, so you may need an extra wash to get them all nice and happy.
These are next to the skin soft fleeces. With the low micron counts on these I strongly suggest combing as your fiber prep instead of carding. Carding will tear them up and leave neps in your yarn.
They take dye beautifully.
Not sure what else you want to know, so if I missed something, please ask!

Has No Life - Lives on TB
Don't wait on me, if you have other offers. This past week or two, I find myself completely overwhelmed and already buried beneath "have tos".
