Misc Finished the pantry

My DW had posted a picture of our pantry on Homesteading Today many years ago.

We had one last open wall in the pantry that we hadn't quite figured out what to do with. We finally made a decision and I picked up some lumber just before the quarantine. I made some narrow 1"x6" adjustable shelves that will be used for mostly empty jars.

Then I decided to make some more narrow shelves for the ends of and between our other shelving. Most of the shelves are adjustable. I drilled 2048 holes :strs:

I can't stand sagging shelves. I made some out of MDF years ago, I'll never make that mistake again. These are made from some nice 1"x4"s they carry at a local lumber yard. They have nice rounded edges and barely require any sanding whatsoever. They haven't sagged in fifteen years or so.

Very nice work! I agree on the MDF. If you're using that anywhere it has to be supported at a frequent interval of it sags like anything. I hope you used a jig for all those holes! ;)

Nice job looks neater than my pantry, we went with gorilla shelving (brand name) and it's strong enough to hold the serious weight of canning jars. Over time it has become a disorganized mess but we manage with it the way it is.
This was a storage room thats 8' 1/2Ft X 11' 5" and we got six of the gorilla shelves in there plus a metal storage cabinet. We also we have some other space elsewhere at the other end of the house for more food storage. The pantry holds a lot.

Moisture and time do a lot of damage to MDF...

very nice, I'm jealous.

One word of advice...put up a strip of wood, cord or something to hold those jars in place in case of earthquake.

Oh that's gorgeous. And I used shock cord to hold the jars in place. The earthquakes in my house come from a hyper son and his ancient service dog. And occasionally my cat decides to see if he can fit himself into the shelves.
