FedACH® Services is experiencing delays associated with internal systems processing. The FedACH Services application is currently offline while we work towards resolution. File distribution and settlement for the first same-day ACH window will be delayed. File distribution for the first ACH window for future dated items will also be delayed. Users of the FedLine Advantage® solution may experience an error when attempting to utilize the FedACH application. FedLine Direct® and FedLine Command® customers may continue to send files but will not receive an acknowledgement until service has been restored. Customers are advised to not resend their FedACH origination files if they are still pending receipt of an acknowledgement. Delivery of reports for the FedPayments® Reporter Service for FedACH® Services will also be delayed.

For updates, please monitor Service Status or FedLine® Home. We value your business and apologize for any inconvenience caused by this issue.

Got cash at home?
Always.

But it is currently worthless.

I'm not traveling today, because of the extremely hazardous weather, a mix of snow and freezing rain.

On top of that, a water main broke, one street over, yesterday afternoon. The water pressure went to zero for many hours. When the pressure returned, the tap water was rusty. This morning the rust finally went away, but the water was "whitish" (heavy chlorination?). It then went back to being rusty, for hours. It is back to being whitish, currently.

I have a couple of 2 liter soda bottles filled with clean water, and some juices in the fridge, so I won't go thirsty. The roads should be clear by noon tomorrow, and cash MAY no longer be worthless. I do expect all, or almost all, bottled water to be sold out in local stores.

Hmm, so it's a good thing that I use cash as much as possible. The Costco today run would have ended a bit different if I had been limited to use of a debit card. And yes, the checkers at my Costco do know how to handle cash and change, although Costco has given up the use of pennies..........

BREAKING: The Federal Reserve's Automated Clearing House (ACH) remains down.

The current outage affects batch payments like direct deposits, payroll and bill payment at banks, credit unions and businesses nation wide.
No wonder the eyecare payment I made a week and a half ago hasn't appeared as a debit against my bank account!

Can you say "bank run"?
Yep, that scene from "It's A Wonderful Life" where everyone is at the bank counter wanting to close their account and get their money (bank run) did briefly flash through my mind but then I just figured some nitwit probably forgot to get their cash order in on time. Honestly , don't really know wheat happened. I do my best to under bank, I really don't trust banks for whatever reason.

My ACH payment to the phone company got hung up yesterday afternoon. Didn't even see the email until this morning, and by then, it had cleared the credit union.

If the Iranians can hack our ACH system that would be the epitome of asymmetric warfare. That would definitely get the rabble to rouse.
I would think any sort of Financial Clearing House wold be prime targets for Terrorists or as a 5th Column Effort during any sort of declared war or maybe even something like a Police Action (ala Korea).

Crippling the citizenries ability to buy groceries or service other day-to-day issues would demoralise both those left at home and those deployed.
