PREP EPA is after Berkey

So trustworthy source for getting a silver blank from would be?
Any reputable place, local or online, where you would buy a 1 ounce 99.9% pure silver bar, coin, or round.
A "coin" is made at a govt. mint. A "bar" or "round" is generally made at a private, commercial mint.
Note you would get about the same answer if you asked where to buy precious metal coins or bars.
Also note that pre-1965 US coins (silver dollar, half, quarter, dime) are "only" 90% silver and 10% copper.

An example of online sources:
https://monumentmetals.com/
https://sdbullion.com/
https://www.apmex.com/

local sources:
coin shop
maybe a pawn shop that deals with coins
possibly a jewelry store??? (maybe, but note that "sterling" silver is "only" 92.5% silver)

I know it's pricey starting out but those filters last for years...my first set needed replaced at the seven year mark. After that, you are only paying for the filters. Mine come out at around $25 or less a year at current prices and I have horrible sulpher and iron in my water.

There are lots of other companies now who make copy-cat filters comparable to Berkey black filters...wonder if they are harrassing them?
That's what I thought about when I wrote post 35 that they would go after all the others maybe get them now. As to your water Wildwood, I have heard that an ozone generator Triple-O or similar, maybe followed by an inexpensive pre-filter works the best on iron. Ozone turns the iron to iron oxide which is then easy to filter out. I don't know if that would work with sulfur or not.

The black filters are nice but don't remove certain things and the worse your water the shorter the life. The ceramic which will work to limit size of particles that pass through and with encapsulated carbon for absorption work for more things but I believe they contain a bit less carbon for absorption. Ceramic can be cleaned if they get material built up on them. The black ones quickly fail if the water is brackish like after a catastrophe, according to a boots on the ground report I read. The ceramic were able to be cleaned many times yielding a lot more good water. That said if you aren't concerned about fluoride or arsenic and some of the other things that a black filter won't remove I believe the black ones have the best tasting water by a bit. YMMV.

Since the water systems and almost all water tests don't actually test for all the bad stuff that is in the water, much of which accumulates as a toxic load in your body which can be detrimental health wise, I really don't understand why few people make much of an effort to lessen the load. Those that do often just get a Britta or similar and call it good since it gets rid of or lessens the chlorine taste. Most bottled water isn't so great either.

I originally was collecting rain water for drinking and set up a system to purify it. When I realized that we are being doused with nano particles frequently, I managed to drill (by hand) a low producing fairly shallow well about fifty feet, (deeper water is terrible water in this area) to provide for the more critical water and use rain water for toilets and washing machine and or creek water for irrigation.

Over a year ago I installed The MR5 whole house system by JMCC water systems (I referred to it and gave a link in post 35) and love it. Since my well is shallow and comes from a clay layer then is pumped into a daily ozoned 1500 gal tank. I use an inexpensive carbon filter as a pre-filter to the MR5 system as they don't want too large of particles entering it. I change it every month or two. Seems like part of the year it needs it more then the rest. It's nice to shower in and drink good water. Sorry this got long, I like to go too much into detail sometimes.:apc:

So are my earrings considered pesticides now too?

Well….that could be a handy feature for a young girl (or not so young) fighting her way through the dating process.

You know, earrings that would only do in the pests….

:hmm:

If something is good for you, the .gov is against it. Look at what the FDA is trying to do to supplements/vitamins and their manufacturers. Again, it's all about control and controlling our lives because like piglosi said, "we know what is best for you".

Living in Florida, I'm completely ignorant of your laws, but isn't it possible to buy it elsewhere and have it shipped?

Back when I bought my Berkey (second hand) retailers would not sell & ship to two states. Kalifornistan was one....and I think the other was Iowa? (not sure if it was Iowa) Because these States would not certify or authorize them for common domestic use. Basically, Berkey wouldn't pay the state to clear if for domestic use....I.E. BRIBE!! However, get this. You could buy and have shipped in the PLASTIC camping Berkey....because it was for camping?!?!?!?!

Sort of how the Left Coast today won't certify a whole slew of new pistols for sale in this state. It's PURE BULLSHIITE, but that's how this place operates. Can you say CORRUPT!!

So I bought my Big Berkey on Ebay second hand and had it shipped in privately. Don't know if "THEY" are still playing this game or not. Now you could always buy the "candles" for the Berkey and the plastic Berkey, just not the stainless steel ones. SOOOOO VERY STUPID!! :bhd:

So if i have a 2-gallon berkey knockoff, should i put a pure silver coin in the top section where the water is before the filters, or in the bottom section after the water has been thru the filters? Just as a redundant way to purify my off grid drinking water. Thanks in advance
I have an AlexaPure filter. 2 cartridges, works well.
$1.00 of silver dimes in the bottom canister at all times.

southside, dimes ain't EXACTLY the best way to work silver for water safety (considering they are 90% (or 90.00) silver)

Spend the 30 bux (covers the premium) and grab a 99.999 or 99.99 silver bar or "coin" and use the good stuff.

Actually "Purewater products, LLC at Water Filtration Products Catalog – Pure Water Products, LLC
Same Royal Doulton filters cheaper.

Repeating for the hard of reading.
A direct link for gravity-drip (berkey) type filter candles. Pure Water Products sells a variety of home type water filters.

If this all seems familiar, these have been discussed with the "emergency water filter" in the past from the same company and are certainly worth linking again. I have one for every member of the immediate family.

When I saw the prices of the Berkey's and their filters, I knew that was out of my pocketbook range, even though I know they're the best.
I bought 2 filters but passed on the container. I bought two, large pots and DH cut a hole for the tap and two holes for the filters. I ordered a tap from Amazon, which was better quality than the berkey tap that has plastic parts.

Why don't they do the required testing and put all this garbage to rest? They are leaving the door open by not complying. What's the big deal it seems it would be a part of doing business.

Is the EPA going after any other filter manufacturers?
No they are not…just Berkey.

Not surprised the SJW Marxists have made Berkey a target - their products appeal to those pesky folk who like to prepare for ugly possibilities.

You know, like the forced Marxist conversion of a nation against the will of a substantial part of the population.

I just went to the Berkey website. Black filters are out of stock. I was able to purchase from Pleasant Hill for the same price that Berkey sells them and according to PH, they aren’t sure they will be able to order more once their inventory runs out.

Thanks for the reco. I just placed an order for the black filters. Supposedly only 3 pairs left in stock when I ordered.

So true. I have a Berkey and Zero water pitcher.

The Berkey only lasts about a year as we have a lot of lime in the water.
You can boil a small amount of water in the bottom of a dark pot and by the time it's boiled dry, there will be noticeable white residue at the bottom. So imagine drinking a lot of that without filtering.
People around here have a lot of kidney stones because they don't filter their water.

I wonder how soon the Chinese will start putting Fentanyl into the water sources. Wonder if it is filterable.
I have an undersink cheap filtration system that I take out the particulates and chlorine before I run it thru my Berkey to conserve my filter elements. Just a thought. You can get the filtering elements from Walmart or Amazon. Easy to install.

I just ordered another set of spare authentic Berkey black elements. $144 w/free ship.
I might as well stock up if this crap is going on by beating the rush now that the word is getting out. I hope Berkey beats the EPA with this lawsuit.

What about those ultraviolet blue light filtration systems? They're good for bacteria.
I also wonder if that would take out drugs like Fentanyl, not just bacteria.

Ultra-Violet/blue-light systems will have NO EFFECT on anything that is any kind of mineral or chemical.
Works WELL on bacteriological targets but not on inert materials.

Correct. Carbon filters would likely be the only thing that would work/help, short of reverse osmosis.
