I have a regular presto canner, a water bath and steam canner, I was wondering if anyone here uses an electric canner and what is your opinion. Was wondering if it is any easier or convenient?

The Carey/Nesco canner is an electric canner with the pressure weight so there are different ones used depending on your elevation. I LOVE mine, it is so much simpler. It is a CANNER and the only one on the market at present that I am aware of that has all the USDA parameters. Does 5 pints or 4 quarts.

I've yet to see any that have been approved by the USDA for pressure canning, do you have a link for that?

It is a canner and NOT a pressure cooker. It uses electricity just like an electric stove does. You plug it in vs putting the canner onto a stove top. It doesnt need any more approval than other pressure canners. It is a weighted canner. I actually cannot find ANY list of approved pressure canners.

Yes I am. I got it mostly to do meat and soups. Anything you can in a stovetop canner you may can in the carey/nesco. (nesco recently bought them). It has different weights you can use depending on your altitude. I find it really easy to use. Its also not super heavy. It holds 5 pints or 4 quarts.
