Went up here today. Right around $4.50, give or take a few cents.
Didn't used to be that way when I was a kid. This area had a refinery. Gas was always cheaper when we went to visit the Grandparents. I remember Mom asking why it was so much cheaper in this area and I remember Dad's answer.
Ironically I moved here about 30 years after my Grandparents passed. It wasn't intentional. This is just where God has me for now.
Haven't checked to see if the refinery is gone, but I bet it is. It was ancient and I bet they just closed it down.
Oh well, ya win some and you lose some.
It usually is best to buy it on Mondays and Tuesdays here, for the most part. Every once-in-a-while the money grubbers will throw in a lower price on other days. Just so they don't get accused of price fixing. It's a racket, I tell ya.

Yesterday high dollar place was 3.79.
Low ball was 3.28. Couldn't move cars with a stick, and one guy ran out and was pushed out of the way so others could get to the pumps. Reminded me of the good old days, when gas was 0.70 and cars went down the block with the correct license plate number.
He got pushed out of the way cuz he wasn't even close to a pump, way back in line. He went into walmart and bought a gas can and bought one gallon to put gas in and get back in line.
Saw all this while waiting on the stupid train at Cross Town, that was 100 cars long and traffic backed up for blocks.
People been complaining about that stupid train for 100 years. It cuts through the busiest intersection in Tupelo.

Bought gas today here in my part of mid-Missouri for $3.699 a gallon. Previous time I got gas was four weeks ago, at $4.099 per gallon. So the price here has come down 40 cents per gallon in the past month.

National Gas Average Drops Nearly 20 Cents in One Week
WASHINGTON, DC (June 4, 2026) – The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is down 18 cents since last week to $4.24. This marks the second straight week of decline. Pump prices are cooling off as the price of crude oil remains below $100 per barrel. Drivers will take all the relief they can get as they embark on summer road trips. But uncertainty lingers over when the Strait of Hormuz will fully reopen and resume traffic. That unknown means oil prices will likely not decrease dramatically as summertime gasoline demand starts going up.

One Month Ago: $4.457
One Year Ago: $3.144
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand decreased last week from 9.25 million b/d to 8.59 million. Total domestic gasoline supply increased from 211.6 million barrels to 215 million. Gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.4 million barrels per day.

At my local very small town stations, it's now at $3.59. Down .40 from its high of $3.99 during the active Iran dustup be back in March/April.

In another town NOT Tupelo, the cheapest gas was 3.48 with the high 3.59 and a competitor at 3.58
With oil going down daily......
A couple of months ago people would go gas up at 3/4 tank BEFORE it went up again.
And now people are waiting to get to 1/4 tank to get the gas as it goes down from day to day. LOL
Let's all wait on 0.70 a gallon......again.

Veteran political strategist Dick Morris said the sharp drop in gasoline prices following the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding will reshape the 2026 midterm landscape and help Republicans keep the House and the Senate.Speaking on Newsmax TV's "Saturday Report," Morris, a Newsmax contributor and former adviser to President Bill Clinton, framed the pump price as the single economic indicator voters track most closely.
The national average for regular gasoline fell to $3.99 a gallon Thursday, down from $4.51 a month earlier, after the U.S. and Iran signed an agreement that calls for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
"Well, it's a huge impact," Morris said. "I think the one economic statistic that everybody knows is how much they paid for gas yesterday. And as that has dropped so enormously and will continue to drop so visibly and so quickly, I think it's having a huge impact."
