This is what a global fuel crisis actually looks like.

EU: Subsidizing fuel/fertilizer sectors up to 70%. Emergency measures across all member states.

Sri Lanka: Hard rationing. Cars get 15 liters a week. Motorbikes get 5.

Myanmar: Odd/even driving days. QR codes to track every single fuel purchase.

Philippines: National energy emergency declared. 4-day government work week. Stockpiling 2 million extra barrels.

Vietnam: Fuel taxes suspended. Citizens told to bike, carpool, or stay home.

Bangladesh: Fuel rationing for most vehicles. Markets shut at 6pm. More blackouts planned.

Indonesia: LPG import duties scrapped for 6 months. 50 liter per day cap per vehicle.

India: Petrol and diesel taxes slashed. Cost: ₹70 billion every two weeks.

Japan: Burning through emergency reserves just to stabilize prices. Bill hitting ¥300 billion a month.

China: Banned fuel exports. Sitting on reserves but airlines are already cutting flights.

Egypt: Restaurants shut at 9pm. Government vehicle fuel allowances cut by a third.

Kenya: Fuel protests erupted. Petrol VAT cut from 16% to 8%.

Zimbabwe: Fuel import taxes scrapped. Ethanol blend in petrol raised from 5% to 20%.

60 countries, nearly 200 emergency policies, in two months.

The IEA called it the largest supply disruption in the history of the global oil market. It's getting worse . . .

Here in the USA, explosive gas price jumps in the last week - biggest jumps in average price:

Indiana up $1.09/gal

Ohio up 94c/gal

Michigan up 88c/gal

Illinois up 56c/gal

Colorado up 47c/gal

Kansas up 39c/gal

Kentucky up 36c/gal

Florida up 34c/gal

Wyoming up 34c/gal

Wisconsin up 33c/gal

It doesn't seem like its bombs-a-droppin that is destroying energy markets. Its been going on a month since his last doomstay post/market selloff/insider trading/peace plan.

Its that Donald can't force a rag-tag Iran to stop oil flowing through Hormuz. What agreement? He unilaterally terminated hostilities. Which in most circles would be a "surrender"


Better get more supplies flown over there to those carriers. Probably going to be there a while.

As of May 2026, oil delivered to Asia is seeing significantly high premiums, with WTI Midland crude delivering at premiums of $30 to $40 a barrel above benchmark quotes, reflecting high transportation costs and strong demand. Brent crude is trading around $120-$124 a barrel, so when including delivery premiums and other, many areas are actually paying over $150 per barrel now.

Surely you realize the difference between spot price and delivery price?

For a spot price of $104 (Dubai/Oman benchmark) add:
Asia physical delivery premium $9-$17/barrel
VLCC Freight and insurance to East Asia $6-12/barrel

puts it at $133/barrel, not counting any additional premiums.

Whose economy? It is having a large impact on many nations' economies now as shown above.
"Wealthier" nations can absorb increases longer than poorer nations, and the same for nations who have larger national oil production than those who have little to none.

Similarly even in the U.S, if you are working for low to minimum wages, your economy is already being heavily impacted, and if you operate or work for a business that is heavy fuel dependent, i.e. Spirit Airlines, impacts are heavy now.

I should have specified America.

Obviously, poorer countries will be effected first and harder.

I have seen some crazy, scary forecasts for diesel which if it comes true will crash the economy.

$8.00 diesel?

Got gas yesterday exit 31 I-24NW of Nashville.
$3.99 / gal.
4 of 8 pumps out of service. Waited 10 minutes. Damn sure wasn’t doing without.

A really scary tipping point will be when the public decides that fuel prices are only increasing and decides to top off their tanks before prices rise.

A huge surge in demand.

And it is summer when many go on road trips which will cost substantially more this year.
The main issue is summer when all the farming is done and this that diesel will be costly a Lot more.

Diesel in Helena MT yesterday was 5.29-5.38
I have a lot of dirt work to do, for myself, this summer so I will have to pay the prices but at least it will be off road diesel, no road tax.
It’s hard to tell if my flights have actually gone up since it’s terrorist, I mean tourist, season. You always take it in the shorts during the summer travel season war or no war. I think a lot of businesses use this war as a excuse to charge a bit more than what’s needed to actually cover the increase. It’s the American way, greed. Stick it to thy neighbor as they would stick it to you.
I am seeing it in the local beef prices. I will be able to buy a 17 cubic foot freezer, take an over night trip, freezer in the truck, to a grass fed grass finished ranch 600 miles from us and still save money after buying the whole beef. Local is 10.75 lb overnight away $5 a lb. Both cut and wrapped.
For some reason the grass fed beef in Western Montana has shot way up.

Most of us did … Remember this. It’s past that in MI. Regardless … it’s terrible. I saw NYS steaks at the butcher the other day at $30. It’s going to snowball.

Republicans aren’t going to win a narrative battle over gas prices by arguing they were higher under Biden in 2021.

They have to come down. That’s it. That’s the only political solution.

Exactly!!! And the rise during the Biden time period was for almost a full year.

Now, we've been paying higher prices for only a month or so, now.... and people are crying...

Funny thing, the "sheep" are crying now, because the media is telling them to.... the true change to their monthly budget is only like a 1% increase, at about $10 a week, on average.

I just came back from a 3000 mile RV trip, through multiple states, getting 7 - 8 mpg in the rig. Wanna guess what I paid for gas at that rate?

Anyone want to swap gas bills for the month?

Maybe.

Back in the 70s, with the USA's greatest gas shortage caused by topping off, passenger car gas tanks averaged 20 to 22 gallons.

Today, the average passenger car gas tank is 12 to 15 gallons, so there is much less topping off space.
