EQ Earthquake East Coast NC Mountains

Something shook the house for about 5 secs. I'm about 15mins NW from Greensboro NC

I’m in the mountains. I think it tends to shake more. Sparta is up in the mountains on the VA/NC border

Breaking: a shallow magnitude 5.1 #earthquake was just felt in the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee. It was preceded by a minor foreshock yesterday. Earthquakes travel farther in the eastern U.S. because of the structure of the crust and the fewer faults that break it up.

we're at the NC/TN Madison/Haywood cty line and we did not feel it but the dogs went nutz. this was up near Dozdoats AO so it will be interesting to see what he's got to say. have friends in Canton and near Lake Junaluska that felt it.
