All you members from North Carolina did you feel that earthquake? I am in the foothills and it shook the house for 30 seconds. Happened around 8:08.

When I saw the headline " Did you feel the shaking" of course I thought another one out here in CA. But instead it's me telling you guys to stay safe. And I will not wish falling into the ocean on you all like some on here wish on us in CA.
Earthquakes are no joke and I pray this isnt a fore shock to something larger.

Felt it here in Carroll County, VA. Shook me in my chair and glassware on top of a cabinet. According to USGS, it's a tie for the most severe earthquake in the area. One of my brothers said it woke him up. He's in Orange County, NC.

I didn't feel anything, but talking to a couple of dog walkers this morning, they said they felt a mild tremor.

Felt a little something near Raleigh but just barely... Went online to see if it was a quake because I wasn't sure if I was maybe just my imagination

Officially they had a smaller- 2.1 - quake yesterday, and I have heard as much as 4 very small ones in the past week. So this may have been the last one. I certainly hope, like you, that it isn't a fore shock- 5.1 is bad enough.

Starting to see pictures on local social media now, a fair amount of damage in the Sparta NC area, and a lot of shaking reported all around.117385594_10219896129768329_5176651352613372884_o.jpg117433136_10157208722685896_7887432683721831464_n.jpg117527692_10219896130768354_9110356828728484724_o.jpg117672818_10219896130568349_7564016243521805145_o.jpg

I felt It here just south of Roanoke. First a small tremor then about 4 seconds later the main event. No damage here. As this was the fourth one in the Sparta area in the last 48 hours, I hope this was the last one for awhile.

The eastern seaboard is moving westward as it has been doing for many hundreds of thousands of years that's how we come to have the appellation mountain range all that land is folded and buckled up from being pushed from the sea floor and moving in a westerly direction slowly for eons.

Well, the Whittier Quake was only 5.9 and lasted less than 30 seconds. Killed 8 or 10, damaged 1000's of buildings including our warehouse. I was picking up welding rod and abrasives for a month.
