BoB's Doing a complete shake out of BOB's

Ok so the effluent hasn't hit the oscillating device quite yet. So grabbed the ol' BOB and nearly renched my arm. Must be something with that global warming affecting the gravity 'cause the bag's way heavier than I remember.

Food:
Hit Walmart, skipped the Mountain House and went for the convenience foods in a pouch. Picked up:
Powdered gravy mix (this stuff can almost make shredded cardboard taste good!)
Knorr side dishes
chicken (to add protein to the sides for a more complete meal)
Flavored mashed potatoes
Flavored Oatmeal in single serving pouches
Dried fruit

Also have a container of NIDO milk powder I intend to breakdown in to smaller servings. You don't want to deal with the mare before morning coffee.

Clothes:
I also took stock of the wardrobe. No hiking boots. Need to fix that ASAP. Socks? on the list. Hiking clothes for most likely scenario - also on list.

Drugs/scripts:
Bag's OTC and First aid kit needs work and updating as well.
Add three days worth of current scripts. Most recent glasses count as a script as well.
Multivitamins, supplements and probiotics fall into this category

Gear:
Sleeping bags can last almost forever. Forever has come.
Added a water filter

Goals:
Run taste test of new BOB foods
Get base weight of pack down to an acceptable amount.
Update foods, OTC drugs, First Aid kit, clothes and boots
Add scripts
Double check current gear
Make sure Bag contents can handle three days without or with minimal additional support

Wow, prescriptions... totally forgot about that. I went through mine back around Thanksgiving. Had to do normal stuff like replace the leaking batteries. (why are they all crap now?? //sigh//). But I recently went from no meds at all to a few every day and didn't even think about adding those in there. Thanks!

We need to review our Bobs once again. I actually have too much in the bag right now. I can carry it, but not much food is in it. I am going to move it to hold less and go with dehydrated food more so.

Having for my primary purpose a GHB (get-home bag), I have slightly different priorities but it's still a good thing to unpack, check and re-pack on a regular basis. If nothing else, I either forget what I've put in it or else I discover something and wonder why in the world I put that in there.

I'm not leaving the possibility of having to leave the place, but there seem to exist several levels of leaving which are largely dependent on the amount of time given from the intel received and so forth.

The possibilities (in my thinking, anyway, warped as it usually is) range from getting out with whatever we can carry (which is a pre-packed BOB BTW) to a couple of game carts with battle belts attached (so they can be towed hands-free and also released quickly) which are loaded with mostly food (mostly freeze-dried) and other necessary gear, to UTV on upwards to a fully-loaded gooseneck towed by tractor and other vehicles with trailers (excellent guidance on loading trailers on Suidlands' website in South Africa).

Started by emptying the bag.
Put two open medium sized trash bags inside. Hope this will protect contents from the wet if need be.
Checking dates and contents.
Having a lot of OMG how did I miss this moments.
Revamping priorities and realistic pack weight is harder than I thought it would be.
