Update

So a couple days ago they did the roto rooter thing on the two arteries to the left of his heart and one of the two on the right. The one on the back and the other half of the branch artery are pretty much blocked off still. They said this surgery was extremely risky due to his condition. Things went very well. However he was intubated and is still. They hope to remove the tube soon but he has limited lung function after the 60% cancer in his lungs about 6 or 7 years ago. He is now cancer free by the way but his lungs due suffer as a result.

He also has both main arteries going down both legs blocked. He actually grew new arteries around them but they supply a much lesser amount of blood. Eventually they will attempt to open his legs up and the remaining two arteries at his heart. I am guessing they are gong to let him recover from what they have done here recently before any further operations.

This man has cheated death a few times in his life. Having being given only a couple months to live when he had cancer for example. Looks like he will cheat death again.

Fingers crossed an praying.

In his favor is that addressing the femoral arteries (legs) is much easier than the cardiac (heart) arteries. Suffice to say that even is stents are placed - likely from what you describe the condition to be - it is an outpatient procedure. IOW well practiced, low risk. That said there 'are no stents in me.' Kudos to anyone who can make the connection.

UPDATE

Figured I would give an update.

Dogmanan has made it through the first stage of operations. The stents seem to be helping and the breathing tube was removed but he is weak and not able to eat yet. They are going to wait for some time before working on his legs. Then he will need the other two arteries worked on as well. I am 750 miles away from him so all my info is second hand and sometimes its a bit scrambled ha ha.

Hes still breathing!!

Thanks for all the support and I will post again some time in the future as he makes any significant progress. I never really thought he would end up dead despite the serious concern by the doctors. He is a tough old cookie and its gonna take a lot to knock him down and out. I guess our day is coming for all of us but I just don't feel his has gotten here yet. Time will tell.

It's been a month. Any updates? I pray all is well.
Yes. Sorry I have been very busy lately. Been trying to get back here and post.

So he was moved to a rehab facility for a while. Then this last Sunday they sent him home. He is still very very weak and in need of rebuilding basically his entire muscle system. He lost a lot in the hospital early on.

He is not able to walk without support as of yet.

I found out that at one point they gave up on him and then decided to try and bring him back and luckily they were able to revive him. Doc said he was very lucky to be alive.

He is going to need a triple bypass and his legs will need cleaning out as well. Badly clogged. His only blood flow to his legs is through lateral arteries he grew as this problem developed but they are tiny and he has no endurance due to lack of blood flow. None of this can be done until he gets stronger. Gonna be a hard long road but it will happen I am sure.

Pretty sure he is here lurking as usual so if anyone has anything to say he will surely see it here. :D
