WTF?!? Dog-Sized Lizards Are Spreading Across Southern United States

Opossums can't get a break, first Armadillo and now this. I wish we could import Anteaters to get all the fire ants at least we'll get some benefits.
Come on man really? LOL

We got beaver out the ......a lot. So the Game Wardens brought in 'gators to get rid of the beavers. Now we have beavers, neighbors dynamited some dams just the other day, AND gator's, with closed season on gators, which means a lot, but not as much as hogs, which is open.

It seems to work that way every time.

Give a redneck enough time and he'll figure out a way to cook the lizards.

Give a redneck the opportunity and she'll find MULTIPLE ways to cook lizards.

I notice that these lizards have chosen to avoid Mississippi. Guess they saw the need to just bypass us rednecks, altogether. They know it's a no win situation for them here. What the mean gators don't get, the rednecks will. Survival.

I'm wondering if the Tegu will eat the feral hogs?

I'd put my money on the pigs.

We got called for some kind of water monitor lizard thing before I retired. It was almost 6 feet long and had gone up a tree. One of our officers got his 12 GA and blaster it right out of the tree, dead right there. Problem solved.

The PETA types online had a melt down, making it an even better experience.

Not too much can stand against buckshot.

Oh my gawd...save the sea turtles!!!
They eat everything (as if domestic cats, feral hogs, coons, and opossums are comparatively picky?)
Four feet long, and mostly tail.
If the komodos were breeding like flies in FL, yes, I be a mite concerned.
Worry not, the GSM is going to freeze out all the tropicals but the Argentine boas. Those snakes are actually rather cold tolerant. They get BIG too, like the Burmese, but cranky personalities (from what I've seen on line - and those are the domesticated pets).

Happy day.

I saw a monitor at a Fire Base south of Cameron Bay in Vietnam. They are big and will eat man. Got back in to the bush before we could kill it. Did snap a picture but the picture does not do the size of that lizard justice. You are not the top of the food chain.
Now this Tegu's lizard may taste just like chicken. Need a tasting report on the critter.

I spent from late 1970 to early 1972 at Cam Ranh bay.
I was attached to the Keystone Robin group.
Later as a Security Guard, as the Keystone Robin unit fell apart.

Navy Dive unit 1969. We were assigned to guard the Swift Boat docks which Kerry had operated out of that year. Means nothing now and I would not have even given him a second thought back then. Never actually saw the main base. We were located way south in the Bay. Only one long dock and some Cages, few towers around the perimeter.
