Didn't see this one in two searches, so your guess is as good as mine. Still though, worth noting; what do you say NOW, Fausti?

COVID-19 Close To Losing Its Epidemic Status In The US, According To The CDC

Authored by Daniel Payne via JustTheNews.com,

Coronavirus deaths in the country have nearly reached a level where the virus will cease to qualify as an epidemic under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rules, the federal agency reported on Friday.

The CDC qualifies a disease outbreak as an "epidemic" if the number of deaths attributable to the disease exceeds a certain percentage of total deaths per week. That threshold for pneumonia, influenza and COVID-19 fluctuates slightly depending on the time of year, ranging from around 7% at the height of flu season to around 5% during less virulent months.

CDC data indicate that deaths from those ailments began skyrocketing in the country around the second week of March, hitting a peak around early May and then plummeting quickly after that.

The latest data show that the percentage of deaths in the country attributable to those factors had as of the last week in June reached its lowest point since the end of last year, becoming "equal to the [current] epidemic threshold of 5.9%," the CDC said.

The agency notes that the official tally of deaths "will likely change as more death certificates are processed, particularly for recent weeks." Yet the number of deaths attributable to COVID-19, pneumonia and influenza have been declining for 10 straight weeks, the agency said on its website, suggesting COVID-19 may cease to qualify as an epidemic in the next few weeks.

[ZH: President Trump continues to battle the mainstream fearmongering with some facts: ]

As the chart below shows...

The welcome news comes as fear over a "second wave" of the virus has gripped the U.S., with some states experiencing fresh surges of COVID-19 along with increased hospitalizations.

Though infections are significantly up in some places, deaths throughout the country have remained flat, due likely to several factors including a younger cohort of infections as well as improved treatment methods.

Of course you won't see it in the news or search engines. They've also made it next to impossible to find the disclaimer labels (in English) on surgical masks in search engine searches despite me finding them in the real world on every package.

Anything ... I mean anything ... that takes away from their agenda is blocked and/or blacked out like it has never existed.

You mean...like IT JUST DISAPPEARED???

Like Trump was saying it would all along? Well goh-leeee Sergeant Carter.

Naw. Just in time for the next China-fluflu to start up this season. Lastest "scare tactic" is the Swine flu variant they are seeing in China. It's gonna kill all of us and turn us into Lib Zombies with or without our permission.

If this is true, why is the Europe still banning American travelers? A lot of places need American tourist dollars to keep their economies afloat, so they have a vested interest in not restricting travel, yet Americans are still banned as of this morning.

Canadians are not banned.

I'll be watching this situation.

Optics? The deep state's European branch trying frantically to keep up the narrative?

Or maybe they didn't get the memo from the CDC that says, as deaths go, this is increasingly a nothingburger.

If it isn't doing this already, it may at some point. I think I saw that NY is already starting its third phase for reopening. Hot spots are shifting, but eventually they will all cool down.

Unless we get that dreaded "second wave"...

What is the average number of days from diagnosis to death? (For those that do die, that is)

Have the "experts" even calculated that yet?

Because the EU is a political body and they are highly irritated at Trump for supporting their loss of revenue from the UK, among other things. The EU is every bit as bad as China is in some respects. Look how they've destroyed their member nations with forced refugee transplantations.

Refresh this, then click on "Daily Cases" in the lower right corner.

THEN if you happen to come across the daily deaths graph (which I have SEEN but never found on the Johns Hopkins site) feel free to share THAT graph.

an invasion of the extremely dangerous Squirrel-Spiders, believed to have escaped from the HanWu lab in china. reports already coming in from NYC, LA,m Seattle, Portland , St Louis of huge infestations. The CDC suggested wearing masks but then changed its mind when someone explained which 'nuts' were being targeted.

Nope, the CDC will move the goalposts on the definition of an "epidemic" to keep the "epidemic" always on everyone's mind, but, if Biden wins suddenly the "epidemic" will disappear on Jan. 20, 2021 and all it took was the Biden win to save us all from this plague. VOTE BIDEN!!

Add this to the comments in the Shelter and THIS simply ain't happening in anything LIKE the near future.

When cities start activating EOC's things ain't trending toward the NICE side of the equation.

I expect the open announcement this afternoon.

Wait two weeks for the full (if any) "fall-out" from all those huge demonstrations, riots, beach parties, patriotic parades, and pub crawls.

Things may be just fine (I hope so) or this article may end up in the dustbin of "gee that didn't age well," it all depends on what the virus is doing (or not doing).

Yes, and have you seen the stats from Texas today (just one example)?

Also, we know that studies are showing that while 14 days/2 weeks is the usual time for transmission it can take longer.

Traditionally disease outbreaks are treated by closing down AFFECTED areas for a few weeks, then opening-up again when serious danger passes.

The problem this time maybe that the world is now so connected that there's always "someone" traveling and exposing or re-exposing any given population.

I do HOPE this really goes away, but the information I'm seeing suggests that it is becoming MORE (not less) widespread but it MAY be becoming more survivable (even severe cases) as doctors learn to treat it.

There is also disturbing information on people suffering long-term health issues, many of them of the permanent disability variety, even if people who didn't get that sick in the first place.

Igorning this won't make things go away, on the other hand hysterical over-reactions don't help much either.

The problem now is the people at the levers of power are at high risk. If it was young 20-30 year olds at risk you would all be saying get back to work! !!!

It's the coddle generation striking again. F'n boomers.

What? You think that some of us are not horrified that this disease seems to be morphing and hitting younger people (giving some of the strokes, destroyed lungs, and permanent disabilities - including some that were totally healthy previously?)

I mean like we "boomers," think it is a "great idea" for the hope of the future, the young people who under normal conditions are the ones that not only the backbone of any economy but also the hope for the next generation of humans?

I hate to break it to you but SOME of these new mutations ARE affecting younger people (no one knows why) AND is showing some seriously potentially long-term health destruction (to the point of life-long disability in some cases) even young people with MILD forms of the disease.

Personally I find that really worrying, like everyone else I WANT this monster to be GONE, but I also know that if it really is NOT willing to go away yet, ignoring it to just "get on with things" doesn't work very well, it didn't in 1348 and it didn't in 1918 or 1955 either.

Long term, this disease will probably either go away, there will be treatments that work and/or it will mutate to become more chronic but less lethal (or come in waves every few decades) that is just how diseases work, especially airborne ones.

your more likely to get hit by lightning than die of Covid if your under 70 years old.

It's not morphing...

This is the current death rate chart.

Yes, I see the Texas stats. I live here. The cases reported are up, as also the number of tests are also up. The huge number of tests are squeezing out a residue of positives because it digs deeper into the population. Here's Texas' graph of that data:

Texas PosNeg Tests.png
That ^^^ is the law of diminishing returns in action.

At the same time, death rates both at the national level and at the Texas level are trending down... and have been doing so for more than two weeks.

Two Weeks. A new "syndrome" is discovered - two weeks. An event of importance occurs - another two weeks. If an event stretches on for quite some time, like BLM riots - wait until that event is over, then start counting the two weeks from there. There will always be something that resets the clock to another two weeks.

Of course, with things like having the lockdowns, there have been realizations like lady politicians going to the salon for beauty treatments, or Governor Newsom's winery staying open for business while he mandated others stay closed...

Yes, Covid-19 is real, and some people die from it. Some people are reported to have long-term issues after recovery. However, it is not the first virus to do either or both, and is turning out to not be as effective in its assault as feared, and that's a good thing.

The bad thing, the really bad thing, is that we're also caught up in an Orwellian loop.

I'm ignoring nothing, ma'am.

Thanks for the reply, I have been unable to speak to my FIL for several days (weather and phone issues) but he mentioned that Texas was getting bad (hospitals, etc) and he's a retired physician and VA administrator.

I will report in the bomb shelter when/if I get more direct information from him on this.
