…… Could sure use some advice on a well pump...

Hometown

No place like home
Of all times my pump went out. Its about nine years old. Its a Shur dri. Can't find another one so I was looking at a Flotech but that one is out of stock everywhere. Found a Simer at Menards. An American company, three year warranty. It says it has to be set vertical but my system is custom and is set horizontal. I have a spring 500ft down hill from the house and a concrete holding tank, the old pump lasted nine years horizontally pumping up hill. Its a 3/4hp, 2wire, 230v. So what would be a good name pump? I was about to add them to the shortage list. And the opinion running it horizontal. Water problems are no fun. I started here with no water and then set up a system hauling water then was uptown when I found my own spring. I think I'm going to buy two pumps if I can find them. Be prepared for the next breakdown.

Myer...I grew up with one, and other than replacing the impeller after 45 years (yes, they still had the parts available) it has been absolutely reliable...that repair was fifteen years ago, btw.
Got rid of the disposable Flotec here after less than five years...replaced it with another Myers...no problems!
ETA: designed to be mounted horizontally.
This is what we got... Hj75s 3/4hp Shallow Well Pump - Sump Pump Accessories - Amazon.com

You might see if there are any commercial pump suppliers in your area. If your near a big city might get a broader selection of pumps.

For this application don’t try for the cheapest would be my suggestion.

In my older days for some industrial water pump applications we used some Grundfos pumps. I think they are German but at the time and years ago they were reliable.

I just installed a Simer 2873G13 3/4 hp, 230 V 3wire 10gpm. I purchased it from Menards four years
ago. It was easy to install, except I had my son in law help with pulling and re-installing it. My well
is 125' deep. I have since built a rig to pull it myself.

Don't know about the horizontal installation. I purchased a second pump and have it in storage.
Since these pumps come complete with the water and anti-freeze all ready installed inside the
electric motor, they have be stored vertically. On the extra pump, i taped the two holes on the bottom
of the unit, wrapped the pump in a heavy duty trash bag and then duct taped the entire unit.

I wonder if these pumps have to be mounted vertically because the pump and motor are floating inside the
water when the unit is running??? Maybe a balance thing?? But I don't know, just guessing on that.

I would imagine an internet search might give you an answer on which pump will run horizontally.

Good luck........
