Misc Constantly sick kids

Hi, I have a question, just looking for opinions here.
I have 5 kids, we lived in Idaho for 10 years. We were off grid. They never got their vaccines, were rarely sick. I wasn't sick for a good nine years, and my allergies went away.
My husband and I separated and I moved back to the East coast. I had to put my kids in school seeing I needed to go back to work full time. I decided to start getting my kids their immunizations. Soon after it seemed they were sick constantly. I understand being so far out, they weren't exposed to much so they had to catch up. But I believe it lowered their immune system making them more vulnerable to the bugs going around too. Anyway, it's been a hell ride, I'm exhausted, been sick alot too. Didn't catch anything for over a year after coming back, but slowly my allergies came back, and I'm catching all their crap. I have then on supplements. Any ideas to help would be greatly appreciated...Thank You

Do you use elderberry? (Yes, I sell it, but I also gave the recipe away for free on here years ago... the stuff just works)

My grown kids all work in areas with tons of public contact (school teachers, public safety, college administration, engineering). They all swear by elderberry... they take it morning and night ftom fall to spring, and say everyone around them can be hacking, coughing and then out sick for a week... and they never get it.

Your kids are in a petri dish 9 months out of the year. Better be glad they have their vaccinations these days given how many immigrants - both legal and illegal - are in the public school system. Some school districts are rampant with crappola because of it.

And then they bring it home to you.

Stress of the move and changing relations combined with financial stress and stress of repeated illnesses are taking their toll. When I was growing up I used to have to get a shot of some type of cillin every couple of years … I was prone to pneumonia and strep as a kid … and I really didn't end the cycle of illness until I was 21 and out of college.

Supplements are no substitute for a diet of real foods focused on the immune system. And I'm saying that based on personal experience. And make sure they are super careful with their contacts and hygiene practices.

At least you didn't relocate to the smog capital of the world - California. Altho the East Coast is pretty bad too.

Heard Colorado is now 4th on the dirty air list, so it's no fun here either.

Yes, pretty much everything changed when we moved. We went from natural everything just about. All home made to living in close proximity to a giant shell plant, just building it. Plus I work alot, and they are always hungry, have to have sandwich stuff on hand all the time. I'm trying to get back to a place where I can have more time , but it's not working right now

Several things might help:

1. Do a major "deep cleaning" of your house: disinfect everything with Lysol. Wipe the door knobs! Change your furnace filters. If appropriate, have the heat vents cleaned. Empty the vac bags regularly. Haul out garbage regularly.

(Hire someone to help you and work alongside them! I do this. It's amazing what we can get done in two hours)

2. If you are using a dishwasher, make sure the water is hot enough. If you are doing dishes by hand, wear rubber gloves and use a teaspoon full of Clorox in the wash water (along with Dawn or detergent of choice). Pour boiling water over the dishes and silverware as the last step.

3. Give everyone a new toothbrush and keep those toothbrushes soaking in separate cups in peroxide. Remember to rinse off the toothbrush before using! (Old toothbrushes can keep reinfecting you!)

4. Discuss social distancing and hand washing, especially during the school day. Make sure the children understand not to touch their eyes or faces unless they have just washed their hands (hard to teach!)

5. If you have electronics, wipe those down with appropriate wipes (check manufacture's info).

What this will do is rid your house of germs that are hanging around reinfecting people.

Once you get stuff deep cleaned, you'll need to disinfect surfaces kitchen and bathroom surfaces on a regular basis, but it won't be as labor-intensive.

Added: if you use "natural" cleaners, use diluted bleach or Lysol for the deep cleaning. You need to make sure the germs are dead!

I second Lysol. I keep a dozen bottles of the liquid concentrate on hand at all times. I also use the Lysol spray on the mattresses and pillows every week when I change sheets. Also wipe down light switches and phone mouth pieces. Computer keyboards and toilet handles.

If they have stuffed animals spray them with Lysol. If their toys have hard surfaces you can wipe them down with liquid Lysol.

3. Give everyone a new toothbrush and keep those toothbrushes soaking in separate cups in peroxide. Remember to rinse off the toothbrush before using! (Old toothbrushes can keep reinfecting you!)

Toothbrushes should be changed at every illness. Crap gets down in the holes that the bristles come out of and lives there and can create issues. Don't let them use their teeth to break the floss from the spool. If they have water bottles with those straws in them make sure everything gets taken apart and sanitized at least weekly.

I know that this sounds like a lot of work - and it is - but you need to break the cycle of infection.

Um, if it helps!
When I go to a new country to live meaning Korea and China I get sick all the time for 6 to 12 months until I settle in and get a local immunity.

Secret if you want to catch on to colds for a shorter period then all of you go vegetarian until you have settled in.

Bugs get cultured on eggs for making vaccines. They like protein.
