Fair use cited so on and so forth.

Connecticut Man Charged With Decapitating His Landlord With A Samurai Sword

Jerry David Thompson was arraigned on Tuesday in Superior Court in Hartford, charged with "using a samurai sword to decapitate his landlord" this weekend. He was ordered to be held in lieu of $2 million in bail.

Thompson is refusing to speak with police and is claiming he is a sovereign citizen, according to the Hartford Courant. He has also reportedly refused to speak with a public defender and is not being represented by an attorney. His case was continued to August 18 by presiding Judge Ann Lynch.

Thompson

Thompson was identified as a suspect by friends of victim Victor King, who had rented him a room. The two were said to have had a dispute about Thompson not paying his rent when Thompson threatened King with the sword.

King went to Hartford Police on Saturday about the threats, one day before he was killed. He told police Thompson had been "waving the sword" at him.

On Sunday, King's friends called the police when they couldn't reach him. Sunday afternoon, police forced their way into King's home, only to find "a lot of blood and King’s badly slashed body covered in bedding."

Thompson was quickly tracked by police to the city's North End, where he was apprehended and brought to the police station. Once in custody, he refused to say anything. He wrote on a sheet of paper “paper in glove compart in Jeep is all you need.”

The paperwork suggested that Thompson viewed himself as a sovereign citizen and not subject to the law.

King

King was a retiree who previously worked for Travelers and was "an accomplished bridge player". “He was very good at it. Very good at teaching others to play it. Just a kind and gentle person whose first love was bridge,” the victim’s cousin said.

Paul Linxwiler, executive editor of the Bridge Bulletin, called King a Grand Life Master, “which is our highest rank,” according to the NY Post. To get to that rank, "you have to play a lot…and you have to be good, too," he said. “He was known as a top player from New England.”

Thompson has had previous convictions for assault and robbery.

The Sovereign Citizen Movement

Sovereign citizens are anti-government extremists who believe that even though they physically reside in this country, they are separate or “sovereign” from the United States. As a result, they believe they don’t have to answer to any government authority, including courts, taxing entities, motor vehicle departments, or law enforcement.

A little history might help. Some folks believe there is a corporate structure overlaid on the historical united States as it existed before the mid -1800s.

Not saying I any more believe this murderer was an actual sovereign citizen than I believe he was a chicken however....

MOORISH SOVEREIGN CITIZENS
The Moorish sovereign citizen movement is a collection of independent organizations and lone individuals that emerged in the early 1990s as an offshoot of the antigovernment sovereign citizens movement, which believes that individual citizens hold sovereignty over, and are independent of, the authority of federal and state governments.

Always entertaining. The capital letters were required by early computer limitations. The sovereign citizen movement doesn't know how big iron worked, so they think it's legal magic. It's sort of like savages stabbing transistor radios with spears.

Claiming you are a sovereign citizen may excuse your driving without a license or maybe even not having a fishing license but the claim is no good on a murder one charge.

Actually, claiming to be a sovereign citizen will not excuse having no driving or fishing license any more than it will absolve you of murder. The sovereign citizen movement makes some good points, but we have to live in the real world where none of it applies. Sad but true.

But was it a real Samurai sword, or a replica sword? Inquiring minds want to know. My son was given a replica by a friend. Dang if it isn’t pretty sharp anyway.

Not really. Try driving in Europe without an international driver's license. And fish and wildlife don't give a flying kitten whether you are a US citizen or not ... hunting laws apply to those using the land whether they are a citizen of that state, this country, or a non-citizen in the country with or without a visa to be here.

COOL!!!

Someone can put 220 grains of justice between his eyes and not be subject to the law?

You are a hoot MIllwright. This was nearly the exact statement my husband made when I told him about this story. But for the record my husband and I carry at all times on the job and usually simply at all times. I also carry my "baton" and have had to use it a couple of times. Most people are smart enough not to make the first move these days.

My husband's international job is based in the Netherlands. They've had 2 basic zoom meeting in order to teach their employees about "diversity/priviledge!" Which he said he refuses to attend. He said he was old enough to know how to treat others.' One of his co-workers was enlightening him RE: the last class! They do questions and you add up how many points you write down, to prove to yourself -"How PRIVILEDGED you are. If your parents are still married +1. If you are a CHRISTIAN +1! If you are Jewish -1 that sort of horse crap! Not one single sheep said anything about being singled out by their religion! We were astounded! He said. he would've been fired over that quiz, so I'm glad he stayed away!

Now I'm picturing you in the middle of a Zombie swarm, bashing in skulls with a club, and it somehow seems perfectly normal...

It is a telescoping humdinger of a thing. I love when it makes that ratcheting sound when I deploy it. Almost sounds like chambering a round in a shotgun.

In all seriousness, it isn't a toy and I don't treat it that way. But I will say I was glad to have it when I needed it. It will clear your personal space that's for sure.

He looks really “out there” in the picture. Wonder why he wasn’t arrested the day before when the victim went to the police

Skin Tone is my guess. Living in Liberal La La land the police become afraid of their own shadow since it is dark. Shadow might file abuse charges against them. Best stay out of other peoples business and stay safe where the Governor wants you.
They are under very strict scrutiny right now.

That's what it is. Not great with words at the moment. First of the month is coming and my brain is already on overload.

But I love the way it sounds. Got it at a gunshow as a present from Hubby.
