See Which States Are Reopening and Which Are Still Shut Down
By Sarah Mervosh, Jasmine C. Lee, Lazaro Gamio and Nadja PopovichUpdated May 15, 2020

Since late April, when the first states began to lift restrictions put in place to curb the coronavirus outbreak, a new pattern has played out across America: The number of new cases of the coronavirus continues to grow, as does the number of people returning to public life.

In Oregon, retail stores are flipping their window signs to “Open.” In Oklahoma, people can go out dancing at nightclubs again. More than half of the states have started to reopen their economies in some meaningful way. Several more are letting certain counties or regions reopen while keeping the areas worst-hit by the virus shut down.

The lifting of restrictions has represented hope in some quarters and deepened fear in others. The nation’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, testified before Congress this week that reopening too soon could trigger a new outbreak and lead to “some suffering and death that could be avoided, but could even set you back on the road to trying to get economic recovery.”

See How All 50 States Are Reopening
By Sarah Mervosh, Jasmine C. Lee, Lazaro Gamio and Nadja PopovichUpdated May 23, 2020

1590380378382.png

The United States has crossed an uneasy threshold, with all 50 states beginning to reopen in some way two months after the coronavirus thrust the country into lockdown. But there are substantial variations in how states are deciding to open up, with some forging far ahead of others.

Life in Georgia, which was among the first states to reopen many businesses in April, feels far different than in Illinois, which is one of three states and Washington, D.C., that are reopening in small ways but are still largely shut down. Several states are removing restrictions on beaches and pools going into Memorial Day weekend.

The lifting restrictions reflect the immense political and social pressures weighing on the nation’s governors to open up, even as epidemiologists remain cautious and warn of the potential for a second wave of cases.

North to the Future
Thank you for the update. I'll have to see if I can find stats for total / current hospitalizations. Earlier today I stated on another thread that Alaska had about a dozen hospitalized statewide as of this morning. That number is down to 3 in the hospital statewide this evening. Our numbers have gone up as expected after being fully opened several weeks back (except for the Canadian border) with people going out again, and with seasonal workers arriving. But it appears to be milder symptoms, thankfully.
