CHAT Closed Nail Salon Observation

Yesterday afternoon I was sitting in the truck while DH picked up dinner. We were parked near a closed nail salon. They had more than one sign saying Temporarily Closed due to Covid. Anyway, no big deal but their door was unlocked and I watched 2 women go into business. It got me to wondering just how many of these small businesses are defying the lockdown orders?

My gym, "We are NOT closing down again. Ever. We have a deal with the local PD." Meaning they are now where the local PDs are working out. (MILES better than a lil' room in the basement of the PD.)

I agree. They have gone nuts out here in CA. We mostly choose to isolate and wear a mask because of our age and health. But this whole deal should be a free choice not mandatory. More power to them! I don't see a business has much to lose. They are going broke anyway.

When I read this I thought about all the bars open during probation. This time, people have to hide going to work from the government.

There is a beauty salon behind my store that never closed. They painted the windows black so no one could see in and continued to operate the whole time and never shut down. The front door was locked in case an inspector showed up, but let appointments in.

The barbershop I frequent is run by two ladies who have let people know that masks are only required before 5pm. That's because the health department spies only work till 5pm. But they're open late and on weekends, so I get my haircuts at those times.

...your gym is now a speakeasy.

I don't know whether that's hilarious or sad.

A few moths into this crap my parents went down to their house in SC.
The next door neighbor saw my moms hair and offered up "her" hair women's phone number shes just down the street yadayada.
My mother started to notice hair being cut on porches everywhere down there.
So forcing salons to close did nothing except make them work from home.

My barber long ago moved her chair into a sunroom in her suburban Dallas house.
While she did shut down early on, as the anxiety about the unknown was fairly high, she quickly decided to service her reasonable customers that were not afraid.

Yes this place had their windows blacked out also . I would imagine their door was locked too and the ladies called from their car.

A lot of those types of businesses opened back up early to regular clients. Right now, only the bars in two counties are shut down. Everything else is open, with some restrictions. Word on the street is that no one is going to shut down for any reason, again. Business owners will band together and file lawsuits.

Our governor has been good about keeping businesses open, for the most part.

I've had two haircuts done by others since March. Both were done in parking lots by salons that had moved outside and were giving free or nearly free cuts to all ($5 - $10 donation suggested). Otherwise, I've been trimming my own. Yes, I'm a tad paranoid. I know these little salons can't afford good air filters, so unless they are working outside, it's a no-go for me, like eating in restaurants right now.

Neither here nor there.
Not a nail salon, but I haven't had a haircut since February. Since I can't stand hair over my ears and cut that short, I have a great mullet going. Starting to look like Eugene from TWD.

That's freaking hilarious. I haven't had my hair cut since last Thanksgiving. I was supposed to get it cut at spring break in March but my appointment was two days after they shut the state down. OC managed to get his cut the saturday before the shut down.

Had the damned college students complied with social distancing and not hosting a 4K strong party in Dawg Town she wouldn't have had to make that mandate. Our city has it now that we have to wear masks everywhere for god only knows how long because of the limp wristed pussies complaining about not wearing masks. And again it's those limp wristed pussies that don't know how to ****ing social distance!

I know. I haven't been up there to shop because of that. I go to Grimes and N. Urbandale because of the lack of students.

I'll be in Ankeny and Des Moines tomorrow, am so happy to not have to deal with the naked apes here when shopping tomorrow! I'm hoping the Aldi on Douglas AOS is well stocked! AOS is aisle of stuff/shame on the Aldi Nerd Group. It's german week and I'm hoping they have the mustard I'm wanting, the sweet mustard. If they do and there's no limits I plan to get several bottles. The last time I saw the german mustards in our store, for german week, was well over ten years ago now. I swear someone waits for the stuff to hit the shelf and buys it all up.

LOL. Where I live, mostly rural, there were quite a few who operated, no open sign, no parking in the front. Only serving “fish fries”.

I've got a buddy in NYC in his mid 70's. I asked him about getting his hair cut. He said he's never had a problem, his barber never shut down. He just blacked out his store front and let his regulars in. He had no choice, he had to eat and pay bills.
