Cincinnati Pastor Posts Parody Video Reminding Christians Not to Freak Out About Coronavirus
By Tré Goins-Phillips, Editor, March 10, 2020

One Cincinnati megachurch pastor posted a parody video this week, reminding Christians they have nothing to fear regarding the novel coronavirus.

Crossroads Church’s Brian Tome said the virus, COVID-19, “has got us utterly freaked out.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, there are 423 cases of the virus in the U.S. There have been 26 deaths to date and several lawmakers (and pastors) have self-quarantined themselves over fear of exposure to the illness.
Coronavirus is the latest thing in culture that has us paralyzed with fear. As @BrianTome explains, we are commanded not to fear, but to keep moving. #coronavirus pic.twitter.com/ADBYBh3q5H

Tome noted that the majority of people dying from COVID-19 are the elderly or those who are immuno-compromised in some way. His words echoed those of Larry Burchett, an ER doctor and board-certified family physician who told The Washington Post that there is little to no risk of fatality for young, healthy people.
“I just want to say you’re going to be OK,” Tome said. “Jesus said, ‘Don’t worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will worry about itself.’ … This is critical, friends. We can’t overreact to things that are going wrong in our world today.”
“America is not the land of the free,” he continued. “We’re the land of the fear. We just fear thing, after thing, after thing, after thing. Folks, the world is not coming to an end. You are going to be fine. Your life is gonna go on as expected. The Dow Jones is going to rebound eventually.”

At the beginning of the video, the pastor joked about the 38% of Americans who, confused about the origin of the novel coronavirus, which was in Wuhan, China, declared they wouldn’t buy Corona beer until the outbreak passed.
When the video concluded, a man decked out in a hazmat suit handed Tome a bottle of Corona beer. After taking a sip, the pastor said, “We all just need to calm down, have a Corona beer, and say to yourself and everyone else, ‘I’m going to be fine,’ because you will be.”

Read your Bible again, "pastor".

Matthew 4:6-7

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

In Bible Gateway I get 71 hits for "fear not" from the KJB. Some of those are from Jesus himself. I take "fear not" as a command. Now, I've a long way to go in obeying that command. But I know what is right. I pray for us all.

There's a difference between cowardice and prudence, though many confuse the two.

Pride comes before the fall.....Pride month ended.
The Prudent man percieves the danger ahead and takes precautions.
The Simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

This pastor just smacked the Good Lord indirectly, leading his sheep amiss...... I'd watch what comes of this.
He obviously is clueless to the back end of that Bible and what is being set upon the world in real time.

Rainbows and unicorns........all is well, see you Sunday.

My mother taught me that worry and fear are a waste. Concern on the other hand is rooted in thinking and taking precautions or actions, or inactions based on knowledge. Not emotions. Fear is an emotion, often roote in knowledge. But there is no benefit, unless it triggers the run reaction and it saves your butt. Perhaps more examples exist.

I speak of our plight with great concern, but no fear, as the peace of God keeps such at bay.

Mega church = cash cow. No attendance means no money. The spice must flow.
Speaking of Cincinnati, a funny radio guy there named Gary Burbank used to do a preacher spoof with the catchline of "reach into those jeans and pull out those greens" funny dude I miss his schtick.
