CHAT Chrome requires new agreement. What does that mean?

Today is the last day to use chrome under the old agreement which I never knew existed. Tried to read what they sent me and couldn't figure out what they were talking about. Not that savy with this stuff so maybe someone can enlighten me as to what it means. This could have been posted and I missed it in all the CV19 haze.

You want US to tell you what’s in a EULA? Puhleeeeeaaaaase.

Your choice is simple. Agree to the terms or stop using the product. There is no “negotiating” with them on which terms you want to be excluded from.

Agree or remove the software

There, I just saved you a buttload of reading.

You’re welcome.

Appreciate all your reply's. It is what i figured. Just hope they don't block our access to TB2k. That would really piss me off.

Schools are buying up cheap ChromeBooks and passing them out to student's parents. In my area a local School had a drive-through set up for parents to come and pick-up a Chromebook. Street signs directing traffic specifically said "Chromebook" noticed as I drove to the Grocery store for my weekly trip.

This is a job for...Richard Dreyfuss!

Richard Dreyfuss Reads the iTunes EULA

Of course the Android store overrode it. Brave is Chrome without the data-mining plugins that Alphabet wants. I’m not an Android guy, so I don’t know how to help you. Someone else probably can though.

You need to add to your OP that you’re on the Android o/s and the Google store isn’t letting you get Brave.

I read some of the Crome update eula. When I read the part that said they will record and save all my conversations I didn't install. Will look into Brave - Thank you for that Dennis.

Just so you know, all Chrome plugins work in Brave. So if you have some favorites, you can keep them.

I've heard Tor is the dark web which is dangerous and has all sorts of illegal, disgusting things. Stay away!

The Tor Browser is a web browser. It does not have, "all sorts of illegal, disgusting things." It may be used to access the Dark Web, but then again - so can Terminal if you know how to use it, and that doesn't make Terminal something to "stay away" from.

I visit a lot of political sites, and I prefer to do so anonymously whenever I can. Tor helps me do that, along with other tools I use.

Ye Old Miranda should be modified to read, "Anything you see online can and will be used against you..."

It's up to you to protect yourselves. No one else is going to do it for you.

Case in point:

You want US to tell you what’s in a EULA? Puhleeeeeaaaaase.

Just installed Brave on my Android phone, took all of 2 minutes.
I searched for Brave using Startpage.com, selected Brave.com, chose option to install, it opened G Play, and it downloaded.
Asked a couple set up questions, voila!

Took me to G Play and I stopped. I am trying to download on the main puter now but it is taking forever. I think my problem is Hughesnet. Not enough band and to far out in the boonies. More than just fly over.

Finally got it on the main. Haven't figured out how to use it. Right now it is a fast train to nowhere for me. Can my Chrome favorites be moved to Brave? This and other mysteries haunt me.

I have to question why anyone who uses Chrome would be on this forum (of all places). EVERYONE knows that Chrome collects data for both Alphabet Inc as well as the government. Seriously, what’s wrong with you people?

I use it because it works great without lots of problems.

If I was so concerned about "privacy" I wouldn't be on the internet at all. They can't collect any thing I don't put in the computer.

If you think any other browsers are better, I suspect you're only fooling yourself.

Nothing at all.
Not everyone has to agree.
It's called "freedom".

Can’t figure out the chrome users either. When DW got a new laptop, I told her not to install chrome. I told her to notice how smooth it was with no chrome.
She didn’t listen and put it on first thing. She blames Windows, but I told her she hadn’t done anything yet to cause Windows functionality issues except install Chrome. I try to explain all the spyware running rampant now and how that is the problem.
I had to tough love her since we’ve been down this road. She asked what other options she had and I said I couldn’t help her since even if she uninstalls, there’s a bunch of spyware with it’s hooks in.

Like many, I like the Brave browser, seems pretty private for a mass distro browser. One thing I learned about Google... youngest granddaughter (17) has a Chromebook from school. I tried to download Brave to it.... no go.

It makes a difference whether you lock the door and they break in, or you invite them in with open arms.

I had 2 computers die at nearly the same time so a chrome book was an inexpensive choice till I could a new computer.
