CORONA Cheap hair lice drug may cut risk of COVID-19 death by 80 percent

A simple treatment for COVID-19 could be cheaper than 20 bucks — and familiar to most grade school nurses.

Head lice drug ivermectin is being explored as a potential treatment for the coronavirus following a promising new study that showed an 80% reduction in hospitalized COVID-19 patient deaths.

Just 8 out of 573 patients who received ivermectin passed away, compared to the 44 individuals out of 510 who died after being given a placebo.

An earlier study of the antiparasitic prescription drug, which costs between $17 and $43 for a course of treatment, according to GoodRx, revealed promising results in April — by removing all viral RNA within 48 hours of a single dose.

Liverpool University virologist Andrew Hill has called the new study “transformational” in the search for a coronavirus therapy. His findings, based on data from over 1,400 patients, were made public in a video posted to YouTube in which Hill discusses his results in a previously aired livestream. The research currently awaits peer review prior to publishing.

“If we see these same trends observed consistently across more studies, then this really is going to be a transformational treatment,” said Hill.

However, critics have called Hill’s study conclusion premature, urging further research before declaring ivermectin an effective treatment — citing other buzzed-about methods that ultimately failed to deliver, such as hydroxychloroquine and tocilizumab.

“All we have are observational studies and clinicians’ opinions,” said University of Sydney professor Andrew McLachlan, the Daily Mail reported.

“Many of the current studies have low numbers of participants, weak study designs, and inconsistent (and relatively low) ivermectin dosing regimes, with ivermectin frequently given in combination with other drugs.”

I regret jumping on someone a while back suggesting Ivermectin. Just didn’t want folks to do crazy things not knowing the dosages, etc. Wish I still had my Ivomec bottle for just such use. Tossed it when our Lab passed. Was out of date a bit, but would probably have worked just fine. Sorry to the member here I jumped on.

"However, critics have called Hill’s study conclusion premature, urging further research before declaring ivermectin an effective treatment ." How about a proper amount of study and research on the vaccines? Oh wait, the people are the lab rats and we'll see how they do in a year, 5-years, and 10-years. Yeah, that's how it goes in this brave new world we're sliding down into.

Talk is cheap
I didn't know that ivermectin is used for this, too.

Wow, the people at WHO, the NIH, and the CDC need to have Ivermectin sprayed on them!

Yep. It'll get buried. Even I can afford this:
Sure you can, but you can get tablets at ADC or horse paste and a course of treatment will cost you a buck or less! (I've always been able to find generic (but effective) paste wormer tubes for $2-3 each on sale.

I do think a gram scale and a bit of basic math (the paste worker is 1.7% ivermectin) is the absolute safest way to dose the paste. It has a wide margin of safety in most people (those with liver issues need to be very careful, and anyone who is taking meds needs to do their own due diligence) but it is only rarely prescribed for anything but infrequent and intermittent use.

Now I'll have to get head lice to see if Ivermectin works on that, too!

:lkick:
Nope you don't want it! Two years ago i had beautiful long thick dreads i had for 5 yrs. I went to Salvation Army and bought a real nice warm wool hat. It was super thick so i didn't wash it where i normally wash everything i get from there. After awhile i was going crazy with my head itching real bad. SO bad that i got sores and scabs. I felt a crawling sensation all over my head. I thought i had some kind of nerve disease. One day i took off the hat and saw BIG bugs on it, and i mean UGLY big brown bugs long with white stripes!. I was in total shock. I never knew. I ran and got the scissors and cut all my hair off down to an inch. threw the hair and hat in a plastic bag and outside in the trash. It was nite time and i didn't have any bug medicine. I washed with tea tree oil and something else i can't remember. Next day i bought special medicine and kept washing what was left of my hair. I used a bug comb too. I didn't find any bugs or baby eggs. I kept washing my hair every day. I was really freaked out. My hair is still short. I will never again buy any used hats!!

The one good thing i read is that the hair bugs cannot live more than 24 hrs OFF the head, so if they were on some clothing they would die in 24 hrs. They only live on the head and they don't jump or fly. There must have been eggs in the hat. Gave me the Heebie Jeebies for the longest time!

Now you know why they got rid of that nice warm hat.

If ivermectin is antiparasitic isn't DE the same thing?
No! Not even close!
DE mechanically dehydrates insects and other creatures with a hard exoskeleton. Ivermectin kills them chemically by shutting down their central nervous system. There's NO way to substitute DE to treat COVID.

The end times are here.
That's easy, just go into any shop that sells hats and try every hat on.

You'll most likely end up with head lice! Lol! V
You're probably right!
I tried a pair of binoculars at Foley's in Houston once. A day or so later I had the worst skin problem around both eyes! Someone with an unpronounceable disease apparently tried them right before me! Ack!
I did however get over whatever it was.

Now you know why they got rid of that nice warm hat.
Yeah i guess so. See normally i wash everything, but i don't have a washer. I just have an old dryer. I've been extremely broke lately and can't even afford to take clothing to the laundrymat to wash so they are piling up. I used to wash small things in the tub after i took a bath, but my bathroom is very cold now and i take less baths and so no more washing things. The hat was very thick. I wasn't even thinking of bugs. I never had them in my life. These were huge suckers like bigger than those big black carpenter ants. They had a long flat brown body with white stripes.

I didn't know bugs were that big. I thought they were tiny things. Don't even know what these things were. I wonder if they came from some people from the middle east or something cuz i never heard of large brown bugs. Maybe i will do a search but it still gives me the heebie jeebies thinking about it. My head would itch like crazy. Many yrs ago i got poisoned from insecticide flea spray and it affected my periphial nerves so that now and then i would feel crawling sensations on my back. I thought i got poisoned again. Never in a million years did i think of bugs.
