cheap dog treats

:chkn: My dogs gave me an idea for a cheap alternative to store bought dog bisquits tonight. Whenever they (3 of them!) go outside and do their business, we give them a treat when they come back in. Store bought treats get rather expensive when you have to buy for 3, so I usually buy the Dollar Store kind. We had spaghetti with garlic bread tonight and the dogs kept coaxing for the bread, they love the garlic. Well, I have a half of a loaf of bread going to waste because the mice chewed the end of it when it was in the cupboard, and nobody will eat it. Tomorrow I'm going to spread some butter on it, sprinkle on garlic powder, cut it into strips, and bake it until it's a little crisp. The pooches will be thrilled, and I won't be wasting the bread! I'll have to start saving all the heels and stale slices in the freezer till I have enough to make another batch. It might not be the healthiest treat, but I doubt if the store bought is all that great either!

Dinghy, Garlic is an excellent flea and tick repellant for dogs and cats. I sprinkle it (1/4 teaspoon about) on their food daily and have not seen a flea or tick for over 20 years living in 2 different areas of the country.
