CATS releases surveillance video of deadly light rail stabbing

CHARLOTTE, NC — A shocking murder that rocked South End. Video released by cats on Friday shows Iryna Zarutska walk on the train and sit down in front of her accused killer, Decarlos Brown, on August 22nd.

The 23-year-old from Ukraine had her headphones on, looking at her phone the entire four minutes leading up to the attack.

Video shows Brown look at Zarutska. He eventually pulls a pocket-knife out of his hoodie and flips it up.

Seconds later, Brown lunges at her using his left hand to hold her head as he stabs her three times in the neck. After it happens, Zarutska looks up at Brown scared and confused. About 30 seconds later she fell over.

Passengers on the train react to the attack yet, no one stops brown or helps Zarutska as she is laying in a puddle of blood.

Several passengers seated behind her look on but don’t come to her aid. A passenger seated next to zarutska stands up appearing to be frozen in fear. Her left hand feverishly shaking. eventually one man runs through the train to come to Zarutska’s aid.

Others eventually help as well. Brown can be seen on the opposite end of the car taking off his hoodie to cover the blood falling from his hand before getting off the train about two minutes after the murder.

Brown remains in jail on a first degree murder charge.

Three stab wounds to the neck? Probably, not much anyone could have done for her. Whenever I leave the house I have in my right pocket a combat/military grade tourniquet, which won't do much for neck wounds, and two 15 gram packets of Celox, which MAY have helped, but how many people have that readily at hand?

Unless the perp was neutralized within seconds, you probably wouldn’t have had the opportunity to administer live saving measures to her in time with those kind of wounds. In my opinion, the determination to inflict wounds that severe makes the act more heinous.

Also adding: Am I the only one surprised Charlotte, NC has a subway?

No! I did a double-take when I read that. Who knew? I sure didn't.
I think somewhere in the news report it was mentioned that it was a light rail line. Usually overhead wire powered as opposed to third rail and above ground instead of below ground. Unfortunately these days you take your life in your hands riding them because of all of the feral animals like this worthless scumbag. The sad thing is,if someone had put a round in his head while this was happening, or right afterwards, that person would be the one in trouble and not this POS.

Take him out, tie him by his balls to the overhead wire and then turn on the juice.

It’s Charlotte…completely blue and deranged. He’ll probably get off with a slap on the wrist. And yes they consider it a light rail. I’ve ridden it once but lately they’re saying it’s gotten rather unsafe. I know that at several of the stops there’s a large population of homeless that hang around.

Low impulse control is genetic. Always remember that. For the love of god folks, pay attention to your surroundings. This is a reminder of that. I can’t tell you how many women I see walking in parking lots texting totally oblivious to their environment. Yes I see men also but usually they are a riskier target.

Is it racist to notice butterflies don’t sting?
