PREP CERT training free materials

This is good material. I studied it a few years ago. My county doesn’t have a CERT program but I have encouraged a few friends to read the lessons. It is fairly basic but a great starting point.

We country folks tend to show up with chain saws, tool and tractors when bad things happen. There were concerns a CERT program would attract “wanna be cops “ and become a problem.

I'm a member of the local CERT Team,
The free hands on training is priceless.

In person modules include search and rescue, fire fighting/hazmat, first aid, traffic/crowd control. Just about anyone can sit at a desk and run a shelter or warming/cooling station.

We're currently at an all day k9 search seminar....Learning how they track you is worthwhile.

Having some of our folks in the 911 center answering phones has it's own uses too.

Did I mention all courses are free..

Why not mention the FBI /FED deep dive background check - including fingerprinting - just for being able to enroll?

Some agencies that deal with children (Red Cross and Scouts come to mind) do require a criminal background check with fingerprints. My county Red Cross did ( I've been out of it a while, so don't know current policy). Most agencies make their own rules unless they are part of a FEMA organization.
I took the online training with nothing other than a SSN, and that was optional. Of course, in today's world...
