I realized I needed more lids and started looking online. The ones I bought earlier this year on amazon have now doubled in price and so has walmart. I looked at Target though and found them for 2.29 with a $25 order and free shipping. I don't normally shop Target but they have the best price right now on these.

I just ordered some as well. For everyone else who might be interested, this is for regular lids. The wide mouth lids are not as reasonably priced.

Does anyone else remember the canning lid shortage of 1975? Azure Standard has been out of stock on lids for my last three orders and local stores keep selling out. Might be good to get lids now instead of waiting for canning season.

I remember! That's why I bought a case of lids in February, even though it took a pretty good bite out of my emergency fund...

fillmorecontainer.com has 70mm lids in stock; in both gold and silver. Silver lids in 155 ct sleeve is $23.25 plus shipping; gold lids in 348 ct sleeve is $68.21 plus shipping; larger quantities available.

If you have a Dollar General nearby, you might want to check and see if they have their lids out yet; I've been using them for a few years and they work well. If I make a purchase earlier in the week, or use the Dollar General app I usually get a $5 off $25 purchase good on Saturday only; that helps bring down the cost a bit.

Regular (small mouth). They also have the wide mouth lids (86mm), also bands for both. It is cheaper to buy by the case - I vac seal them when I do so. As far as shipping goes, if you live out in the sticks like we do, the shipping can be pretty high - we got around that by having them shipped to where Hubby works; could have also had them shipped to his Mama who lives in town, but she couldn't have moved them off the porch by herself.

I'm finding a few at the hardware store; but limited to 3 boxes of regular lids; no large ones in sight. Have seen lids at Wal-Mart a couple of times. When I ordered from Amazon; the were not available; when I order from Wal-Mart; they weren't available. So, I will keep looking when I go there again....and check out the local grocery stores as well. I knot know if you can ever have 'too many lids.' :)

Yes, I remember that. Also around that time, Kerr put out a batch of bad lids. There were a lot of angry people that had used the Kerr lids. We all knew about it and that was before the internet days. Word traveled fast about bad lids.

If you are looking for lids you might try Lehman's. They are currently out of stock but reordering.

There is also Tattler Reuseable Lids, but they require a different technique, which they explain in detail, than metal canning lids to ensure a seal.

SOME Farm & Fleets still have wide mouth lids WITH rings for $4.99 and Tattler Lids both sizes, but the quantities on hand are small and it can be just luck to find them in stock.

Rural King still shows in stock and to ship in both regular and wide mouth lids (Regular $2.99 - large mouth $3.99) and one of the local stores in my AO has them in stock but the quantity is limited. Also have jars in some sizes but they are awfully proud of them based upon the prices. Don't have a clue what the shipping costs would be, but I guessing it isn't cheap.

IMHO if you need jars and lids it is going to be a few here and a few there kind of thing.
