TECH Can Tb2k be blocked 4 individuals by ISP?

DEPLORABLE ME
Twice in the past month I have suddenly NOT been able to surf on tb2k, while all other websites worked fine. Since I have a Verizon hotspot on my phone, and satellite internet, each time I ended up connecting to the other, and getting right on tb2k just fine.

This time it was Verizon that seemed to be blocking access, and I think but am not sure that it was Verizon last time.
So I just ended up paying for a VPN, to prevent it in the future if that's what it is.

Each time I couldn't get on, there was no outtage reported on tb2k, so it's just me.

Something to think about. Are lefties now blocking access to us? I usually have the forum open, even if I'm not actively looking, I'm online connected to the forum practically all day... this time it just suddenly wouldn't let me see a new page, post, or reply, but everything else on the internet was working for me. I even restarted my tablet, didn't help.

Update: I was able to surf tb2k with and without the vpn on my satellite ISP.
I switched back to Verizon, still couldn't get on tb2k, turned on the VPN and connected right away. So tb2k was definitely being blocked by Verizon, but the VPN gave me a workaround!

The tech wizards can chime in here but at the church I attended, if you were using their wifi/hotspot they had something that checked for keywords on top of specific websites that were blocked. Similar to parental controls at the house.

I use Verizon when I want to watch vids cause Hughesnet throttles my service. I have never been blocked on TB when I do.

I use a phone for wifi hotspot.

Last week, that one was kinda balky about letting the computer through, but my other phone didn't have a problem.

Well, I use the Verizon hotspot a lot, so most of the time it's ok, but like I said, today after about 6 hours of being connected to tb2k it started blocking me. Maybe it depends on who is on what shift. Someone who doesn't like tb2k.

Without VPN, can't connect, with VPN, no problem.

And again, nothing else was blocked, I could freely surf the internet, just not tb2k....

I'm going to follow this thread bbbuddy. I've been having similar issues with ATT. But for the most part I believe it's a tower issue. However, there have been enough "random oddities" that seem very much like what you're describing. Second month of dealing with this.

Between 10 pm & 10 am, is my best connectivity times. However I'm not usually a nightowl.

The issue MAY be being caused by Verizon DNS issues - what DNS, when accessing Verizon, does your machine point to, in order to resolve www.timebomb2000.com to an actual IP number? Have you tried utilizing non-Verizon DNSs? (8.8.8.8, for example - Google public DNS).

Or, you could simply type in the correct IP number address for TB2K (don't have it handy, at the moment - Dennis can chime in), bypassing the need for your browser to call out to any DNS for website address resolution.

Could also be a browser cache issue - try flushing/dumping the browser caches to see if this clears things up.
