I'm not making this up...

The California Statewide Ebony Alert Program was introduced through Senate Bill 673 and became law in 2024 by adding Section 8594.14 to the California Government Code. An Ebony Alert is a resource available to law enforcement agencies investigating the suspicious or unexplainable disappearance of a black woman or black person

Maybe we need a "pillbilly" alert here in Appalachia. That's when your old lady runs off with the newest fully disabled coal miner. (They get good drugs)

Or a gold-digger alert in FL. Those old retired men love young nubile companionship.

My examples are no more disgusting than California's crude attempt to insert race into the missing person crisis.

Instead of "Amber" how about "Amberniqua"?

What about the "dot not feather" women?

The state deserves more ridicule than I have energy.

Blacks who caused this were offended by "Amber", which they stupidly thought was a color and not the name of the missing child it was named after, so they wanted their own, exclusive Ebony alert.

It's ultra comically insulting to anyone with a mind that this became a legitimate "alert"..
You are excepting way too much from a certain demographic.

I saw that this morning and thought " huh"? So what are they calling Hispanic missing children now? And what about Native Americans? Long Beach has a rather large population of them. Are just whites amber? This place gets crazier all the time.

The Amber alert was created in reference to Amber Rene Hagerman, who was abducted and later found murdered in 1996. Alternative regional alert names were once used; in Georgia, "Levi's Call" (in memory of Levi Frady); in Hawaii, "Maile Amber Alert" (in memory of Maile Gilbert); in Arkansas, "Morgan Nick Amber Alert" (in memory of Morgan Nick); in Utah, it is called "Rachael Alert" (in memory of Rachael Runyan), and "Monkey's Law" in Idaho (in memory of Michael Joseph Vaughan.)
Amber Alert has been morphed into a racist signal through Ebonics.

I taught for decades in a reservation in California. One young male teen and two young females teens were rescued from human traffickers by long haul truckers hundreds of miles from the reservation. The three were lured by online predators and were separate instances of kidnapping. I have no problem with Silver alerts (elders), nor Amber, Feather or Ebony. All give a specific identifier.

**** California.
I have come to believe that they are breeding for one single brain cell shared between them. Of course, not everyone falls into that group, but dang. The people I know/met from there can be extremely idiotic. Sorry, just an opinion. Nothing more.

That is what the "Feather Alert" is for. You know... Because Native Americans all wear feathers?

Seems more racist to me than naming a football team "Redskins".

Does anyone use "high yellow" anymore?

I don't advocate for racial perjoratives. I guess these days I'm a minority.

I suspect that California is making an attempt to give out more focused info at the start.

Here's an example, when a vehicle register is run, the dispatcher almost always gives the
color of the vehicle first. This is important info and the beginning of the observing process.
It cuts to the chase faster.

True some vehicles would have been recently repainted, but that would be rare.
Hope that makes sense?

I should add, this will probably be adopted by other states.

Yes, it makes sense.

Buuuut, we're seeing less descriptions when someone does a drive-by shooting or a robbery but they want more accurate descriptions for the missing.

Time for me to be quiet. Not sure why this thread aggravated me so bad.

It think that many of us feel one race will be slighted in the end.
It's becoming a common theme.
How do we stop this out of control train?????
At some point that out of control train will run out of track.

Just another way that the powers in control separate and alienate us from one another.

Missing person. Would work just fine.

Missing minor would too.
Another human being is missing, why the f does it matter what the skin color is or their creed?
Really?
But really?
Feather alert...feathers or dot.
Ebony alert...dark or light.

Crazy assed humans reinventing everything into garbage.
